Father Shen thought for a moment and finally agreed. 0

"Once you're discharged, you can bring her over. You both can stay here for a couple of days." 0

Shen Xingyue watched this farce unfold, observing her brother's retreating figure, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within her. 0

She knew that her brother was being encouraged by his wife. 0

Yet, his weakness and selfishness still left Shen Xingyue feeling disappointed. 0

At that moment, she suddenly felt as if her brother had completely transformed into someone else. 0

A deep sense of helplessness washed over her. 0

Shen Xingyue turned her gaze out the window. 0

The night had fallen over the city. 0

The lights were dazzling, yet they could not illuminate the confusion within Shen Xingyue's heart. 0

She understood. 0

This family storm would not end so simply. 0

Several hours later, the doctor finally emerged to announce that Jiang Junlian was not seriously injured; she had merely been frightened and needed a few days of rest. 0

Father Shen and the others felt exhausted and decided to head home, leaving Shen Yang to continue caring for his wife. 0

That evening, Mother Jiang took over the shift, and Shen Yang returned home tired and ready for dinner. 0

“Dad, Mom,” he greeted. 0

"Then... can Junlian stay in Xiao Yue's room?" 0

Shen Yang asked cautiously. 0

"Her room is more spacious and has better lighting, making it more suitable for nurturing a baby." 0

Shen Xingyue suddenly looked up, staring at her brother in disbelief. 0

"On what grounds?" she blurted out instinctively. 0

"Xiao Yue!" Shen Yang frowned, "Your sister-in-law is not well right now; just endure it for a few days." 0

Father Shen and Mother Shen thought for a moment and reluctantly agreed to the request. 0

Seeing this, Shen Xingyue could only bite her lip and nod, suppressing her anger. 0

Back home, Shen Xingyue looked at the room that had been "taken over," feeling a mix of emotions. 0

She silently packed her things and moved into the cramped guest room. 0

"Xiao Yue," Jiang Junlian lay weakly on the bed, an apologetic smile on her face, "I'm really sorry for the trouble. Once I'm feeling better, I'll move back." 0

Shen Xingyue forced a smile, "It's fine; you just rest well." 0

As she turned to leave, she didn't notice the smug glint in Jiang Junlian's eyes. 0

Early the next morning, a piercing doorbell jolted Shen Xingyue awake. 0

"Who is it?" she rubbed her sleepy eyes as she opened the door. 0

Standing outside was an imposing middle-aged woman—Mother Jiang. 0

"Is it you, the money-losing fool, who opened the door?" Mother Jiang stormed in, her voice booming. "I came to see how my daughter is being treated by you!" 0

Father Shen and Mother Shen rushed over, their faces pale with anger. 0

"What nonsense are you up to now?" Father Shen snapped. 0

"Nonsense?" Mother Jiang sneered. "I'm just here to check on my daughter and see if you’re still buying her a house." 0

Mother Shen could no longer hold back. "Buying my daughter a house is none of your business! We spend our own money, and it’s not for you to dictate!" 0

"Fine," Mother Jiang's eyes glinted with malice. "If you don't take care of my daughter, I will call the press and let the whole world know how you abuse pregnant women!" 0

With that, she pulled out her phone, ready to dial. 0

"Stop!" Father Shen shouted, snatching the phone from her hands. "If you dare to cause trouble, we will call the police!" 0

Mother Jiang was taken aback but quickly regained her arrogance. "You wouldn't dare! If you call the police, I'll have my daughter go to the hospital and accuse you of abuse!" 0

Shen Xingyue watched this scene unfold, filled with anger and helplessness. 0

Just then, Jiang Junlian's voice came from the room. "Mom, stop making a scene. I'm fine; just go home." 0

Only then did Mother Jiang leave in a huff, casting a fierce glare at Shen Xingyue as she exited. 0
