"Doctor! Doctor, hurry!"
Mother Jiang screamed.
"If anything happens to my daughter, I won't let you get away with it!"
"None of you from the Shen Family are good for anything!"
Doctors and nurses rushed in, creating chaos in the ward.
Shen Xingyue stood in the corner, her heart swirling with emotions.
She looked at Mother Jiang and then at her parents, realizing they held completely different values.
Suddenly, she understood that this situation might truly be beyond explanation.
Just as Shen Xingyue's thoughts were in turmoil, the door to the ward was pushed open.
Her brother, Shen Yang, stepped out.
His face was pale, brows furrowed, and his gaze evasive.
His footsteps were hesitant.
"Dad, Mom, Xiao Yue," Shen Yang's voice was low, tinged with an almost imperceptible tension.
Shen Xingyue looked at him, and her sense of foreboding intensified.
"Brother, how is Sister-in-law?"
Shen Xingyue tried to keep her tone calm.
Shen Yang glanced at Shen Xingyue, then at their parents.
He hesitated, words caught in his throat.
Finally, he took a deep breath, as if he had made a significant decision.
“Dad, Mom, there’s something… I want to discuss with you.”
Father Shen waved his hand impatiently.
“Just say it! Stop beating around the bush!”
Shen Yang lowered his head even further.
“Well… Junlian is pregnant now, and her health isn’t good…”
He paused, carefully observing his parents' reactions.
“Could you… could you please hold off on buying a house for Xiao Yue for now?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the air seemed to freeze.
Shen Xingyue's eyes widened in disbelief; she could hardly believe her ears.
The expressions on their parents' faces darkened instantly.
Father Shen's anger erupted like a volcano.
“Shen Yang! Say that again!”
His voice thundered.
The sound reverberated in my ears.
"Have you forgotten who bought you the house when you got married?" Father Shen pointed an accusing finger at Shen Yang.
"Now that your sister wants to buy a house, you're turning your back on us!"
"Do you even have a conscience?"
Mother Shen trembled with anger as she took over the conversation, her voice sharp and agitated.
"Shen Yang, how have we treated you all these years?"
"What have we not given you?"
"What has your wife wanted that we haven't tried to fulfill?"
"Now that your sister wants to buy a house, it's our duty as parents to help!"
"What right do you have to oppose this?"
The more Mother Shen spoke, the more agitated she became, her eyes reddening.
"You've truly disappointed me!"
Shen Yang was bombarded by his parents' scolding. He lowered his head even further, like a child caught in wrongdoing. His tone softened.
"Mom, Dad, that's not what I meant..."
He tried to explain, but his voice grew quieter.
"I just... I just feel that Junlian's situation is special right now..."
"You all saw it; she just fell down..."
He lifted his head, looking at his parents with an almost pleading expression.
Father Shen snorted coldly, interrupting him without mercy.
"Shen Yang, listen to me!"
"Your wife is your wife, and your sister is your sister!"
"You handle your wife's matters yourself!"
"Don't even think about putting ideas in your sister's head!"
Father Shen waved his hand, his tone resolute.
"You go back now and take good care of your wife!"
"Stop bothering us!"
Shen Yang's face shifted between shades of pale and flushed.
He opened his mouth as if wanting to say something more, and after a long pause, he finally managed to squeeze out a sentence.
"Then can we... can we let her stay at home for a few days to take care of the baby?"
