Ximba, being older and more experienced, spoke and acted with a level of sophistication that Mu Sa lacked. He couldn't quite grasp the meaning behind Shi Tian's words.
After glancing at the two, Shi Tian launched into his persuasive pitch: "You know how much soy sauce from Super City costs per pound, right? One pound of beans can produce at least three to four pounds of soy sauce. If you buy dozens of jars and brew thousands of pounds at once, how much profit could you make?"
"The technique for brewing soy sauce is a gift I’m giving you, but having more people know this technique isn’t necessarily better. If everyone in your tribe starts brewing soy sauce to sell, the price will drop due to competition, making it worthless. However, if only you know how to brew it, that changes everything. You could hire them to help you brew soy sauce and pay them wages. They earn money, you make a profit, and you can invest in more equipment to produce even more."
Neither of them was foolish, especially Ximba, who was nearly confirmed as the next Chieftain. Once Shi Tian laid out his argument, he understood. While they might be grateful for the technique initially, if they wanted to earn their share of the profits, they would need to support themselves.
Ximba arranged for two new bodyguards over the next two days. Dashi's people were not an option; they were familiar with this area. If they stayed behind to guard the place, by the time they returned, there would likely be nothing left but the front gate. It had to be someone from the Maasai Tribe for peace of mind.
During these two days, Old An would come to collect their ordered rods and handle some paperwork for entering the original Maasai Tribe while procuring a large amount of supplies—even bringing along a gas stove.
With the new bodyguards settled in and A Heng’s bodyguard watching over things, A Heng joined them as four set off before dawn. Looking at the navigation towards Lu Fu River Bridge, Shi Tian decisively chose to take a detour of several dozen kilometers.
His vehicle was too conspicuous; after just dropping that group off, if someone spotted them and decided to pursue for revenge on the road, it would be troublesome.
With a full tank of gas and having driven less than two hundred kilometers, Shi Tian felt uneasy—he was in a complete no-man's land! "Heng Ge, is it still possible for me to turn back now?" Once they entered the original jungle, Shi Tian truly understood what it meant to be in a remote village with murky rivers inhabited by crocodiles.
Scattered acacia trees dotted the landscape above which thunder rumbled ominously. After crossing a small bridge and gazing down at the muddy river below, A Heng proudly pointed out that there were crocodiles in that river and asked if he wanted to throw in a couple of lines.
Shi Tian was indeed interested in fishing and felt confident with his American gill net at his waist. But was this thunderstorm really suitable for fishing? He certainly didn’t want to risk being struck by lightning.
"Xiao Tian, do you want to stop for a bathroom break?" He turned to Shi Tian with a glance that made A Heng's corner of his mouth twitch.
"You want to stop? Are you kidding? If you stop now, my job is ruined!" Shi Ye had given him strict orders to keep an eye on Shi Tian and prevent him from causing trouble here.
"No way! Let’s keep moving! We need to reach our destination before the heavy rain hits; we still have about a hundred kilometers left—at most three hours." With dark clouds looming overhead, Shi Tian firmly refused. He had caused enough trouble before; he didn’t want to tempt fate!
Despite being only two lanes wide, the road was relatively smooth—at least there were no potholes or steep slopes. For over three hundred kilometers of road ahead, Shi Tian couldn’t understand why they had set off before dawn.
He didn’t mention turning back again and calculated they could make it in three hours; A Heng finally felt somewhat reassured. However, they couldn’t afford to be careless; caution was still necessary.
"I think we should stop for a moment; otherwise, if it starts raining later and we need to go then, we’ll get soaked." He suggested stopping briefly so they could take turns driving since they still had a long way ahead.
As soon as A Heng offered to help drive, Shi Tian immediately slowed down—if he had known earlier that there was an opportunity like this, he would have asked someone to take over long ago!
