Adjusting the float, with a single cast, I stood knee-deep in the water, waiting for a big catch to come my way. Once they had something to gain, the fishing spot would surely be theirs!
There were plenty of fish here; the carp being caught weighed at least half a pound, with some even exceeding a pound. However, the Yangsigang Bridge wasn't the best fishing spot due to the strong current.
Using a single hook line setup and fishing with a heavy sinker, this was the only way to fish now. I calculated the water flow and cast a handful of bait upstream. I attached some plastic particles to the hook and let it drift. Shi Tian couldn't help but wiggle his toes; the water was still a bit chilly!
"Sister Lang, are your feet cold?" Holding the rod while standing in the water, Shi Tian moved closer to Sun Lang.
It was bad enough that the water was cold; it was also incredibly slippery. Without using his toes to grip the submerged concrete bridge pier, Shi Tian worried that such strong currents could sweep them away! If he had known it would be this uncomfortable, he would have brought his wading shoes.
"Cold? Not at all! Just hang in there for half an hour! We can definitely catch a big one in that time," Sun Lang replied, though inwardly she was cursing. Who else would come out early in the morning to fish in the river? But since they were already here, they might as well fish! They were already wet anyway.
As soon as the float dipped, I lifted my rod and reeled in a little carp weighing over a pound. This catch wouldn’t impress the fishermen onshore.
After unhooking it, I tossed it back into the river and switched back to plastic particles to continue fishing.
Where did those two skilled anglers come from? Fishing in such cold water? Weren't they cold? The fishermen onshore had already started chatting with them.
Not sure, but judging by their accents, they sounded like northerners!
Northerners? That makes sense! I heard that northerners can swim in ice holes even when it's minus twenty or thirty degrees. With this water temperature, they must find it somewhat warm! If they weren’t catching fish, at least they could have some fun joking around.
Probably! Didn’t you see them stomping their feet in the water? They must be feeling a bit warm!
After catching three carp, Shi Tian considered leaving Sun Lang behind and making a run for it. In such a vast Yangtze River, not even a decent-sized fish had bitten; it was quite ridiculous!
The float bobbed again. Shi Tian closed his eyes and used his customized rod; it felt much better than using just a float.
A big one is on! Don’t move! Don’t scare it away! He gently reminded Sun Lang as he felt vibrations through the rod.
A big one is finally here; we can finally get it on land! Sun Lang raised her foot but was too scared to put it down.
Hurry up and catch it! Saying it's not cold is a lie; if I stay here any longer, I'll cramp up!
I hooked the fish! As I lifted my rod, splashing sounds echoed. Sun Lang finally relaxed her foot and turned to head back to shore, leaving Shi Tian behind to reel in the fish slowly.
"Hey! Brother, pull me up quickly; this fish is going to drag me down!" Shi Tian called out as he struggled with his rod. The grip on this bridge pier was terrible, and with a sizable fish on his line, he felt like his feet were on roller skates—hardly cooperating at all!
Watching Shi Tian slide slowly into the river, Sun Lang quickly reached out to stop him, but the other two had already started sliding again. The fish was a bit too big; they couldn't hold their ground!
"Xiao Yu! Hurry! The Loss Prevention Rope! Throw it over!" He shouted to Li Ziyu, urging her to find the Loss Prevention Rope quickly.
