As soon as Li Ziyu opened his mouth, Pingtou Ge almost choked. He never expected this little girl to hold a grudge so fiercely!
With the meal prepared, Shi Tian specially brought out a bottle of Moutai to celebrate Pingtou Ge's imminent return to shore. Four cups were set, one for him and one for Pingtou Ge, while the other two were for Wang Ergou and the lobster. The other four didn’t drink; they weren’t frequent sailors and still needed to fish later, so drinking near the boat wouldn’t be safe.
“Brother, the water here is a bit shallow! Are there any fish?” After pouring some drinks, Shi Tian asked. He had already figured out the situation here; the average depth was around a hundred meters. The south was concave, the northeast corner was also recessed, and there was a basin to the west where the water was deeper. The areas around the oil wells were shallower since those wells were built earlier when technology couldn’t handle deeper waters, forcing them to find shallower spots.
Pingtou Ge was probably just thinking about getting back. He casually found a spot to stop the boat and wanted to hurry them along! “Let’s eat quickly; after we finish, we need to fish. Tonight, we’re going to have a big catch! I usually don’t bring people here!” After downing a cup of alcohol, Pingtou Ge pulled the bottle closer to himself. “You guys can just taste it; I need to take this little bit of alcohol back with me!”
“Usually don’t bring people here? So that means you really want us here; this fishing spot must not matter much then,” Wang Ergou thought. They needed to eat quickly and catch more big fish!
Once “big catch” was mentioned, Wang Ergou and the lobster stopped drinking and quickly started eating! They knew how familiar Pingtou Ge was with this area. No matter what the weather was like, as long as they found Pingtou Ge, they could always catch some fish.
Watching Pingtou Ge leisurely sipping his drink, Shi Tian couldn’t wait any longer. “Brother, take your time drinking; we’ll start fishing first!” With that, he dashed back to his room to grab his rod. He hooked on an Antarctic shrimp and stood at the stern to cast his line, wanting to check the fishing conditions first.
The water here was shallow at just over sixty meters; it was unlikely there were any tuna. But since Pingtou Ge said there were fish here, considering the depth and this season, it was likely they would catch some Shi Ban!
“Xiao Tian, your rod seems a bit small!” Wang Ergou remarked while grabbing some Antarctic shrimp and tossing them into the bait cage before throwing it overboard. “We have bait fish on board; do you want to switch to a bigger rod?” He noticed Shi Tian’s rod was too large for bait fish but too small for tuna.
“I’ll try this one first; if I hook something big, I can switch later. No rush!” Shi Tian replied calmly without urging them to change rods.
He wasn’t sure about the fishing conditions here either; he’d wait until he caught something before deciding!
“You’re quite clever! You know there aren’t any tuna here!” As people began coming out, Pingtou Ge hid his drink well and brought out a smaller rod. Standing next to Shi Tian, he hooked two Antarctic shrimp onto his hook and turned to remind Wang Ergou and the others: “There are plenty of Shi Ban here; let’s fish for those. There haven’t been any tuna lately; we’ll go out early in the morning to catch tuna!”
