After two or three hours of struggling, the moon hung high in the sky, full and bright, but the fish were not biting well. According to experience, fishing during the first quarter and full moon is significantly worse than at the beginning of the lunar month. After the twenty-third or twenty-fourth day of the lunar calendar, especially from the twenty-seventh to the fourth of the next month, it’s a frenzy of catches.
There were plenty of fish in Nansha, including big ones, but for Xiao Yu, catching one after another was the norm. By midnight, after a brief nap, Shi Tian emerged from his cabin and checked the coordinates. Where had they ended up?
"Jun Ge, where are we?" He glanced at Air Force at the helm. Shi Tian looked at the nautical chart and noticed there were quite a few boats in the area, but how could there be no islands in this sea?
"Are you up? Hurry and cook! After we eat, you take over the boat while we refuel in Singapore! I just checked the weather; it’s going to be windy with rain for the next couple of days. There’s no bite, so let’s fill up and then come back to fish slowly!"
Turning to give Shi Tian a look, Air Force crossed his legs and tucked his phone away. They had fished until midnight last night, and once they were asleep, Air Force had raised anchor and set sail. By morning, they were almost out of the country!
"Wind? I didn’t see any yesterday!" Rubbing his head, Shi Tian casually replied as he turned and headed into the kitchen to get busy. It was normal to add some fuel; as long as there was fuel in the tank while drifting at sea, he felt secure!
However, he regretted not bringing his passport; it was a pity that even if they reached Singapore, he couldn’t go ashore to explore. If only he had known to bring it!
Shi Tian took over Air Force for a full day. Once they entered Singapore waters, Sun Lang couldn’t drive since he didn’t have a license, leaving Air Force to retreat into his cabin for some sleep while Shi Tian had to manage alone.
As evening approached, Mini Air Force arrived in Singapore and filled up with fuel—though it didn’t seem much cheaper!
"Let’s rest early! We’ll head out first thing tomorrow! I’ll find a place to dock!" After dinner wrapped up, Shi Tian was ushered into his cabin by Air Force. Under the cover of night, Air Force navigated through the Malacca Strait and headed north along Malaysia.
When Shi Tian woke up again, they were nearing Thai waters. After breakfast, he went up to the deck to enjoy some sea breeze when he suddenly spotted land ahead. A sense of unease washed over him.
"Jun Ge, aren’t we a bit far from where we should be? Where are you planning to dock?" He stared at the positioning and realized they had drifted all the way into the Indian Ocean. "You call this docking? Are you planning to take us all the way to Myanmar?"
Now Shi Tian understood; all that talk about Xisha Nansha was just an excuse. No wonder it took them more than two days to reach Nansha only to run over a thousand miles to refuel in Singapore! This was definitely premeditated!
"Oh! We ran into pirates last night and ended up drifting too far," Air Force casually deflected as he called Sun Lang over and instructed him to continue on their planned route while dragging Shi Tian towards the aft deck.
There were indeed pirates in the Malacca Strait, but Air Force was certainly not on their radar.
With its speed, unless they stopped at night outside, those pirates wouldn’t catch up! Moreover, their targets were clear; they specifically targeted slow-moving cargo ships like Xia Shou—not for theft but to disrupt shipping in the Malacca Strait and force all vessels south around Indonesia.
Thus, many speculated that these pirates were backed by Indonesia; perhaps they even held privateering licenses!
Pirates are not easy to deal with. Take Brother San, for instance; they have extensive experience in combating piracy. Over a decade ago, in Somalia, Brother San's warship encountered a forty-meter-long pirate ship. With a powerful display of firepower, they ultimately achieved the remarkable feat of eliminating ten pirates, which was widely publicized.
Just as the celebrations were underway, Thailand raised an objection because that ship was one of their fishing vessels that had been hijacked by pirates. They had just paid a ransom to get it back, and shortly after setting out, it was sunk by an Indian warship, with all ten crew members being Thai fishermen!
A few years ago, Brother San's warship was in Nigeria to combat piracy. After firing several shots, they didn’t manage to kill a single pirate; instead, the pirates boarded their ship and captured a Navy officer, demanding a hefty ransom in return.
So, you see, fighting pirates can be quite dangerous!
In a little while, we will stop at Phuket! There are plenty of fun things to do there! Oh! I forgot; you didn’t bring your passport, so you won't be able to go ashore. What a pity!
Upon reaching Stern, the Air Force chuckled gleefully and turned to Lu Ya, saying, "Lu Ge, it's up to you now. Without the old man here to protect you, make sure to guide Xiao Tian well. Don’t hold back!"
