People love to gather for excitement, but what about fish? They must enjoy the commotion even more than humans! With so much lively activity and plenty of Xiao Yu to snack on, how could they resist such a great opportunity?
Another Little White Strip has come up; it feels like it’s been ages since I last caught a Bai Tiao. My skills haven’t diminished over the years!
You make a good point, but in reality, that logic just doesn’t hold up. Big fish tend to stay at the bottom, and from the moment the Fish Bait hits the water, the Bai Tiao start snatching up food. The larger fish are more gentle when feeding, so trying to snag food from a Bai Tiao’s mouth is nearly impossible! While catching Bai Tiao, I can also show off some theoretical knowledge in front of Shi Tian. At least the two old men aren’t feeling as frustrated as they were earlier!
Really? Is that so? I’ve learned something new today! After giving a compliment, Shi Tian looked at the Bai Tiao in the Yu Hu. That’s enough for a plate; I’ll take them back tonight to treat Li Yunfei!
With a lift of the Rod, he moved to another spot, dropped in some Crucian Carp Bait, and prepared to add some soup for Li Yunfei.
Young man, fishing requires patience. Don’t aim too high; catching more Bai Tiao is still a decent dish for snacks!
Seeing Shi Tian change his Fishing Spot, the two old men felt a sense of pride. It seems this kid has been swayed by his own theories and has given up on catching Bai Tiao!
Thinking back on my four years since retirement, navigating the fishing world without fear of cold or rain, diligently honing my skills—if that counts as a small achievement, then I can certainly guide the next generation!
I already have enough for one dish; catching more would just yield the same result, which is pointless. A meal isn’t complete without soup; now that I have the ingredients, I need to catch a few Carp for that!
Once this thought crossed my mind, Shi Tian replaced his bait with a worm. With a flick of his Rod, the Hook hit the water, splashing up a small wave.
The Crucian Carp Bait will take some time to attract fish, but thankfully it’s daytime, so it should be quicker.
He stood up and shared a cigarette with the two old men before returning to his own Fishing Spot.
These two old men clearly have integrity; there’s no need for reminders. They definitely won’t toss their cigarette butts by the riverbank. At least while I’m here, their integrity will remain intact.
Your Rod is too short; during the day, Carp don’t come close to shore and mostly stay in deeper waters. To catch them during daylight, you need a longer rod like a Chang Gan. Smoke billowed from his nostrils as Old He A, drawing from four years of fishing experience, began advising the younger angler.
Shi Tian only brought this short rod to the river; all his longer rods were left in the car. There’s no need to go back just for a few Carp.
With some Crucian Carp Bait, attracting a few greedy fish shouldn’t be too difficult. His goal wasn’t high—four or five would be enough for a pot of soup.
After finishing one cigarette, he noticed his Float bobbing—he had a bite!
After pausing for a moment and then seeing another dip in the float, it was likely a Carp.
With a quick jerk of his rod, he pulled up a small Carp, about palm-sized—quite small!
As he brought the fish up and secured it, he casually counted its scales from head to tail: eighteen scales. It was a small Crucian Carp. He quickly placed it in his keepnet.
In recent years, many water bodies have seen an emergence of super-sized Carp, some weighing over three pounds and even sporting whiskers. These aren’t ordinary Carp, but rather hybrids known as Gong Ji.
Gong Ji is an artificially bred hybrid; some are crossed with regular Carp, while others are mixed with white bream from Xiao Ri Zi. This breed grows at three to four times the rate of regular Carp.
Fortunately, this creature, like the Lion-Tiger Beast, cannot reproduce; otherwise, it would be quite troublesome.
The simplest way to distinguish the Crucian Carp from the Gong Ji is to count the scales. If there’s a row of scales from head to tail, it’s definitely a Crucian Carp.
In Shi Tian, the two old men turned their heads to glance at Shi Tianyi. This kid really had good luck; he said he was fishing for Carp and actually caught one! But this fish is rather small!
As one Carp was reeled in, he switched to a worm for another cast. Checking his phone, he saw it was just past five o'clock. He planned to fish for another hour before heading back!
He put his phone away and rolled up his sleeves, realizing he had forgotten about his watch on his wrist! Looking down at Xia Shou's watch, he noticed the time was about the same as on his phone. What a useless watch! Why do so many people like wearing them?
With a flick of the rod, another small Carp came up, looking almost identical to the last one, just a bit bigger—probably around three taels!
In less than half an hour, the third Carp was caught. The two old men felt something was off; this kid was catching them one after another!
Moving the Fishing Box to split Shi Tian left and right, he cleaned up the previous battlefield and approached Shi Tian with a cigarette in hand: "Brother Huang Pao, we have enough Bai Tiao for a plate now; we just need some soup. Can you help us out?"
Help? Isn’t that a small matter? Every time these two old men caught a fish, they earned a point themselves; it was only right to help each other!
"Old man, respecting the elderly and caring for the young is a traditional virtue! It’s no trouble at all. Just find a good spot, and I’ll cast a spell for you. You’ll definitely have soup tonight!"
As soon as he finished speaking, another small Crucian Carp was caught. If he could get one or two more, his pot of soup would be guaranteed.
The two old men found their spots while Shi Tian picked up the Wo Liao beside him and made a quick cast to finish his spell.
He tossed the remaining Wo Liao into the Fishing Box and grabbed a handful of Carp Bait, moving downstream a few steps to estimate his position before setting up a baiting spot!
