Silently, I closed the interface and helplessly rubbed my face.
Looking back, it was true that most of what Anyeah taught me were these basic skills. However, compared to my impressions of the Holy Walker in the actual game, there were still some discrepancies, and the effects of the skills were somewhat different. That’s why I couldn’t connect the dots right away.
Additionally, Anyeah would occasionally remind me of various things to pay attention to—
—“In short, when you don’t know what to do, start with what you can do.”
Suddenly, Anyeah’s words surfaced in my mind.
Things I can do…
I looked up at the Demon Suppression Cave before me and pondered silently.
Basically, according to common sense, if the system hasn’t given any direct mission instructions, it means I need to seek out an event to trigger a quest, right?
So that means I have to go down the mountain and into town to find someone? Or more accurately: find an NPC?
…That said, what would happen if I didn’t trigger a quest?
To be honest, I have social anxiety. Rather than forcing myself to engage with others, I’d prefer to stay alone and do nothing; it feels much more comfortable.
Alright, I’ve made up my mind! Before the system forces me to undertake a mission, I’ll just wander around this corner of the world at my leisure!
Speaking of which, if I'm going to stay here, this cave would be a more suitable refuge than the ruins left by the Wen family's cultivator. However, the state of the cave is truly unacceptable…
Since there’s nothing else to do, I might as well start cleaning up!
I have plenty of time on my hands now.
Ah, Wei Wuxian, since you’ve abandoned this Demon Suppression Cave, I won’t hesitate to take it over!
As I ventured deeper into the cave, I couldn’t help but frown as I stared at the pool of blood.
When it comes to cleaning up, this place is definitely a priority. I don’t want my sense of smell to continue suffering from its pollution.
Taking a deep breath and preparing myself mentally… Ugh, maybe not too deep. I carefully placed my hands on the surface of the water and began to chant the Purification Magic.
The Purification Magic I learned not only cleanses resentment and toxins but also performs physical purification on ordinary objects. The most convenient aspect for me is that I don’t have to worry about bathing or changing clothes; I can cleanse myself anytime and anywhere without fear of getting dirty.
As I chanted the incantation, a white light filled with spiritual light particles emanated from my palms, gradually spreading through the pool. The once murky water began to clear up under the influence of the spirit light until it was transparent enough to see the bottom clearly.
Once the purification was complete, I cautiously cupped some clear water in my hands and brought it close to my nose for a sniff; there was no unusual odor. After hesitating for a moment, I took a small sip and found it to be sweet spring water.
Great! It worked!
I let out a sigh of relief and opened my interface to check my Spirit Power value: about a quarter had been consumed by the blood pool.
This indicates that the Spirit Power value here is equivalent to mana in games.
Basically, the Spirit Power value automatically regenerates slowly over time. However, if it drops too low and needs rapid recovery, one must consume food to accelerate its restoration; otherwise, this body doesn’t require food at all.
The most important thing is that once the Spirit Power value is depleted, it will forcibly enter a dormant state and will only awaken once the Spirit Power value is fully restored. This was a key point that Anyeah repeatedly emphasized during our time in the illusion.
So, given the current consumption level, I shouldn't need to use the bun just yet. After all, this bun is my only precious food source, and I need to conserve it.
For now, I'll let the Spirit Power value recover automatically and observe how quickly it does so.
Now that the most troublesome blood pool has been dealt with, all that's left is this vast cave.
...But where should I even start? That's quite a dilemma.

Stepping outside the cave, I arrived at the ruins where the Wen family's cultivators were stationed and began searching around to see if there were any useful items left behind.
After all, cleaning up with just manpower is futile; tools are necessary for assistance.
Fortunately, I found a broom that was still somewhat usable.
Returning to the cave with the broom, I worked hard to remove the remaining talismans from the stone walls and gradually swept away everything within sight, clearing several flat stone platforms in the process.
Hmm, good. Now there's a place to sleep.
After clearing out piles of garbage from the cave entrance, I was drenched in sweat.
I casually set the broom aside and checked my Spirit Power value again—great, it's restored.
Back in the cave, I once again chanted the Purification Spell, cleansing the murky air within and thoroughly washing away the grime that clung to me.
That should be good enough.
As for the formation on the ground, leaving it alone shouldn’t matter, right? After all, it has lost its function; I might as well consider it a decorative pattern.
After a long day of toil, I could finally rest properly.
Outside, the sky was gradually darkening...
I had completely forgotten that what one must be most cautious of in Potter's Field is the night!
Although the zombies and walking corpses had been mostly cleared away after two large-scale purges by the Hundred Sects of Xianmen, the lingering resentment in this place remained thick and palpable. Unmoored souls and restless spirits emerged at night, drifting about and emitting chilling wails that echoed through the air.
Those haunting cries, filled with sorrow and dread, reverberated throughout the vast expanse of the Demon Suppression Cave, creating an eerie surround sound effect that made one feel as if they were truly immersed in it...
Oh my! Someone help!
I curled up on one of the cleaned stone platforms, trembling and wide-eyed, too frightened to close my eyes.
Inside the Demon Suppression Cave after nightfall was pitch black, devoid of any light; I couldn’t see a thing even when I stretched out my hand.
After enduring for a while, I finally couldn’t hold back any longer and released some spiritual light particles around me to illuminate my surroundings. Once I could see the path clearly, I quickly crawled out of the cave using both hands and feet.
I no longer wanted to stay inside, tormented by that terrifying voice that gnawed at my ears and mind!
Finally crawling out of the cave, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
Although the sky outside was just as dark, there was at least a hint of moonlight illuminating the surroundings, allowing me to see somewhat. Before me floated several grayish-blue lights, the Wandering Spirits, drifting eerily around. Occasionally, I would hear them burst forth with meaningless, piercing curses or sorrowful wails.
Though it couldn't compare to the echoing amplification within the cave, it was still quite unsettling.
— "Fear of what is feared is meaningless." BY Anyeah.
Well, okay then.
Taking a deep breath, I suppressed the scream that was almost bursting from my throat and forced myself to stay put and adapt, refusing to flee.
After silently feeling the atmosphere for a while, I found that it wasn't so bad after all; there was nothing to fear.
Those Wandering Spirits were merely floating in the air, endlessly recounting their grievances and sorrows from life, showing no signs of aggression. Occasionally, one or two would notice my presence and curiously drift closer, but as long as I emitted a bit of spirit light to deter them, they would retreat.
It seemed that the spirits drifting here were ordinary souls not yet tainted by resentment or malice, so there was no need for excessive caution.
Just as I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, I suddenly heard an eerie rustling sound of footsteps coming from not far away...
