As soon as the call ended, Shi Tian grabbed the Rod and Yu Hu, stuffed half a bag of Wo Liao into his pocket, and ran towards the Lancang River. The two of them felt like they were in a hurry; it wasn't safe at home anymore, so they decided to make a quick escape!
Were we tricked by Xiao Tian? That guy just wanted us to rent a shop for him to sell Fishing Gear! Putting away his phone, Lu Ya turned to glare at Air Force.
After spending all night planning, he never expected to end up making a fool of himself for Shi Tian. They could choose not to open a Fishing Spot, but they weren’t skilled in anything else either! This situation really was just as Shi Tian had said; one had to show off in front of beautiful women, which would undoubtedly earn them some points.
They were following Shi Ye, who handled most of the business affairs. Their role was mainly to maintain connections and procure items that others couldn’t get or that the country needed. Everything else was managed by Shi Ye.
When it came to flirting with girls, they didn’t have much experience. They were good at spending money for pleasure, but when it came to genuine relationships, they were as clueless as novices!
With their status, girls were never in short supply. However, they grew tired of the love that came easily; after indulging in rich meals, they craved something lighter to balance their tastes.
Without a doubt, they had been tricked by this kid. How was he any different from Ye Ge? Was there anyone honest in the Old Shi Family? Sighing, Air Force pulled out a cigarette and took a puff. It was exhausting!
He had initially thought about coaxing Shi Tian into cooking for them, but unexpectedly, this kid turned the tables and got them into trouble instead. He was really making progress!
Should I just cancel that shop rental? Let that kid waste his efforts? But it felt somewhat unsatisfactory! He wanted to think of a way to get back at him! Climbing into the car, Lu Ya expressed his discontent.
“Don’t cancel it; just leave it be. If you cancel, he’ll just go rent it himself. That kid isn’t short on cash right now! If he wants to open a Fishing Spot, that location is undoubtedly the best choice. As long as you don’t cancel, you still have some leverage. If you do cancel, then you’ll have lost all your bargaining power!”
Glancing at Lu Ya, both of them had their own ulterior motives. Cancelling the rental wasn’t an option; now both were thinking about how to outsmart each other. They were somewhat interested in the Fishing Spot Shi Tian mentioned; spending some money on a stall to fish and flirt with girls didn’t sound too bad.
Unfortunately, there weren’t many big fish here; otherwise, it would have been even more enjoyable.
Upon reaching the riverbank, they strolled along the shore for a bit before looking for a target to practice their skills. Digging up a few earthworms and moving a flat stone over, Shi Tian sat down next to a man in his forties. He hooked an earthworm onto his Seven Point Two rod and cast it out with a big swing, startling the man so much that he nearly dropped his Fishing Platform and ran away.
“Brother, hold on! Just learning how to fish?” The Rod wasn’t meant to be cast like that! Leaning over slightly, he reminded Shi Tian that fishing next to this young guy was risky!
“I’ve only been learning for a short time; I just bought this Rod today!” With an awkward smile, Shi Tian innocently turned to the man: “Brother, this Rod is long; if I don’t cast it like this, it won’t go out far! How do you cast?”
With an air of false confidence and sincerity in his tone, he made sure not to scare off the man completely.
The man lifted his rod and skillfully prepared two baits on the Hook before standing up and gently swinging it. The Hook with the Float was smoothly sent into the river with remarkable ease.
“See? As long as it’s not a long line, you can cast the Hand Rod like this. This way you won’t lose your bait on the Hook or hurt anyone nearby; plus you won’t snag anything behind you and break your Rod!”
The man pointed out these details while Shi Tian eagerly absorbed every word. Pulling up his Hook gently and swinging it lightly resulted in an awkward curve; his Float barely moved more than a few meters.
After several attempts, Shi Tian still couldn't cast the Hook out. He ran over to his older brother, holding the Rod out in front of him. "Brother, I think I might have been cheated into buying a fake Rod. I can't get it to cast. Why don't you give it a try?"
His brother had a bit of patience when it came to handling the equipment. He stood up, took the Rod from Shi Tian's hands, and with a gentle flick, the Hook landed smoothly in the water.
"You just need to master the technique and strength; practice a few more times and you'll get the hang of it!" He cast it again, quickly reeling it back in before casting once more. The more he practiced, the easier it became. Shi Tian wasn't in a rush to take over; he patiently watched like a student learning from a teacher.
"Brother, I bought this Rod at Dog Dong for twelve hundred. Is it worth it? Did I get scammed?" Seeing his brother getting into the rhythm of casting, Shi Tian quietly reminded him.
"Who taught you how to cast? I just wanted you to try out the Rod's performance! Hurry up and change that gear in your Rod Bag!"
The Star Brand Rod might not be well-known yet, but it's spreading everywhere. Once it gains some reputation, they'll raise the prices!
"Twelve hundred? What brand is it? The feel is definitely worth it; just not sure if it's durable!" Shi Tian chimed in, prompting his brother to pay closer attention to the Rod in his hands.
"Xing Brand? Never heard of it! A no-name brand? This kid probably got scammed! But the feel is really nice; if it's sturdy enough, then it's definitely worth it!"
"Sturdy? Of course it's sturdy! It's already seven-thirty, and it's this brand of Rod that caught the White-Finned Dolphin! How could it not be durable? I bought it specifically because I heard this Rod is tough!"
After their brief conversation, Shi Tian retrieved the Rod under his brother's reluctant gaze and settled into his own Fishing Spot.
One Hook was baited with worms while another was baited with Carp Bait. With a gentle flick, he cast both Hooks into the water. His brother watched nearby, pleased with his teaching success.
The Lancang River is different from the Yangtze River; while the Yangtze has strict rules allowing only one person per rod, line, and hook, the Lancang River only requires one rod per person. However, if someone uses explosive hooks or Chained Hooks, they could still be reported and face consequences.
