Yun Wan'er and Kang Ziyu sat outside a café, sipping tea and chatting. A stack of drawing paper lay on the table, and they occasionally jotted down notes, seemingly designing something intriguing.
Seeing the two, Shi Tian chuckled and hurriedly lifted a fish bucket, boasting, "Look at this! Over six pounds of Sesame Grouper, just caught! I’m going to keep it in the tank. You know she’s coming over in a few days for the holiday? You can use this to treat her!"
The mention of Kang Ziyu made Yun Wan'er suppress her complaints immediately. Her pet pig had finally wised up and learned to root around for Xiao Baicai! Glancing at the lively Kang Ziyu, she thought her pig had good taste; if it could win over Kang Ziyu, their future offspring would be guaranteed excellent genes!
Watching Shi Tian carefully pour water into the tank for the Sesame Grouper, Kang Ziyu smiled and said, "With such a large wild Sesame Grouper, it would be a waste to give it to her. Let’s eat it together tonight! Before she arrives, I’ll buy another one from the seafood shop and keep it in the tank for a day. She won’t be able to tell whether it’s wild or farmed!"
Kang Ziyu had no intention of letting Shi Tian prepare a Stonefish for her in front of Yun Wan'er. If Shi Tian was using a fish to impress her friend, that was out of the question.
"We won’t have fish tonight. I’ll take you somewhere nice; their dishes are especially delicious!" Yun Wan'er interjected, planning to lead Kang Ziyu to Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell for dinner.
Having spent so much time in Sanya, Yun Wan'er was feeling bored. Finally catching up with Kang Ziyu, she genuinely wanted to develop their friendship further.
She had initially thought about bringing Su Xueyi along, but Su Xueyi was too inexperienced; aside from school-related gossip among their six or seven friend groups, they had little else to discuss.
Now that she had found someone like Kang Ziyu who could engage in conversation easily, Yun Wan'er didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
"Really delicious? Sounds great! Is it far? Should we head out now?" Upon hearing about the good food, Kang Ziyu immediately leaned toward Yun Wan'er.
"Let’s go! We’ll stroll around Great Eastern Sea first; their place is over there. Xiao Tian, don’t drink tonight; come pick us up later. I’ll have a couple of drinks with Xiao Yu!" After giving Shi Tian instructions, the two girls linked arms and hopped into Kang Ziyu's Mini Cooper, clearly off for a day of shopping and dining!
Watching them leave, Shi Tian shook his head helplessly. Old Zhang's Little Lobster Shop should be opening soon; he planned to check it out before heading back to tidy up the yards of Shi Ye, Air Force, and Lu Ya.
No one had lived there for months; their yard had become quite unkempt. Since the three were returning soon, he wanted to ensure it looked decent by the time they got back.
"Uncle Zhang, isn’t your shop opening yet? If you don’t open soon, the peak season will pass!" Shi Tian joked as he handed Old Zhang a cigarette.
Old Zhang had made significant sacrifices for this shop; he hadn’t even touched his fishing rod in over half a month!
"The opening is today! I sent your invitation through your dad two days ago; remember to come for drinks!" Taking the cigarette from Shi Tian, Old Zhang looked noticeably worn out; clearly, he had been under stress lately.
"Sure thing! I’ll definitely be there on time! It’s lunchtime now; let’s have the chef prepare two servings of shrimp—I’ll supervise!" Shi Tian replied without hesitation. He had previously taught the chef some techniques but wasn’t sure how well he had learned since then.
Opening a shop was crucial for making a name; he hoped it wouldn’t end up like Luo Yongshan’s Dumpling House, which still hadn’t attracted many customers from town!
"Sit tight; I’ll go inform the kitchen." Old Zhang said as he turned towards the back. He had been wanting Shi Tian to come help oversee things but hadn’t seen him around lately. "I heard you went fishing again?"
After responding briefly to Shi Tian's comment, Old Zhang headed into the kitchen. Shi Tian felt touched that Old Zhang appreciated his guidance on cooking.
Old Zhang's shop was reasonably sized; although he only rented two storefronts, there was ample space out front. After other shops closed for the night, they could set up tables in that area as long as they kept it clean and didn’t interfere with anyone's business the next day.
They were old friends who had run the shop together for many years, always seeing each other around. Old Zhang still had a bit of face in this matter. Of course, it would require spending some money, but it wasn't much at all.
Before long, Old Zhang brought over a plate of crayfish and casually reached for the liquor.
"Let's skip the drinks; I still have to drive later!" Shi Tian called out to Old Zhang, his gaze fixed on the crayfish. "Uncle Zhang, did you cut off their heads? When the shop just opened, it's better not to cut them; it makes them look more substantial!"
Cutting off the heads of the crayfish made them easier to eat, but it also reduced their weight by nearly thirty percent. The scales in Sanya had a poor reputation in recent years; eating them with heads was a bit more troublesome, but they looked good and felt more substantial! Plus, some diners particularly enjoyed the roe found in the heads.
