What a beautiful thought! Just a twenty-minute stroll for ten dollars? No way, ten dollars is not negotiable! After some banter with Wang Ergou, the carp finally emerged from the mud.
Seizing the opportunity, Shi Tian thrust the rod forward and took two steps back; he finally got the fish on land. The carp had thick lips and was tough to pull! As long as it bit correctly, Shi Tian wasn’t worried about it getting off the hook.
Now that he was on land, it was time for Shi Tian to take control. Whether it was a matter of strength or technique, he could take his time! He had twenty minutes to tire out the fish, and that would be the moment to reel it in!
While Shi Tian was busy with his catch, Zhang Junming and Niu Zong, who had come along for the lobster, were starting to get restless. Watching someone else fish wasn’t entertaining at all; they hurriedly cast their lines because accumulation is key. They needed to catch a bigger fish than Shi Tian’s and carry it away!
Neither of them had brought fishing gear, so when they opened the lobster's rod bag, they split two eight-meter rods between them. One grabbed a fishing box while the other took a fishing chair, and they confidently set off to establish their own fishing spot.
Fishing here required proper gear. If they didn’t have rods, wasn’t Wang Ergou nearby? Surely he wouldn’t be short on rods in his car! If that didn’t work out, there was always Shi Tian; after all, he owned a fishing tackle shop. He wouldn’t be lacking rods either! With money in hand, Shi Tian would have no choice but to provide them with rods; otherwise, they could threaten to file a complaint against him for refusing to sell!
However, there was no rush; first, he would help them set up their spots so they could fish comfortably. With such a big order at stake, his commission would be substantial. Out of respect for the money involved, he had to ensure excellent service!
After twenty minutes of struggle, the fish finally calmed down in the water. A wave broke on the surface as a sign that this fish was running out of energy; Shi Tian had dragged it up to the upper layers!
Seeing the fish starting to thrash about, Wang Ergou stood up without needing any prompting from Shi Tian. He grabbed a large net and waited at the side.
As several waves crashed down, Shi Tian pulled hard on the line to bring the fish's head above water for a few breaths of fresh air. Then the fish flipped over comfortably onto its back, basking in the sun.
Seizing the moment, he plunged the net into the water; half of the fish's tail remained outside!
It weighed over thirty pounds—a true trophy! As Wang Ergou dragged it ashore, he shook his head slightly in disappointment. Why hadn’t this fish bitten his hook? If it had taken his hook, he certainly wouldn’t have been as rough as Shi Tian!
This fish was old and not very tasty—what a pity! Looking at the catch in the net, Shi Tian remarked nonchalantly that nearly drove everyone around him mad.
“I’ve got plenty of delicious ones here—ranging from two pounds to four pounds. Let’s trade later!” He shot an eye roll at Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell.
“No need for that; with one cast of my rod, what kind of fish can’t I catch? My master once said that nothing beats catching your own fish!” Blocking out Scallion and Ginger’s dreadful thoughts, Shi Tian switched hooks and attached two plastic particles before casting again.
Whether this fish was good or not didn’t matter; if it wasn’t suitable for eating, he could always toss it into Yuehu Lake to raise it—who knows when it might turn into a giant fish lake!
With each cast from seven people in a row, carp bait spread across the water like confetti; their gathering effect was unbeatable.
Unfortunately, giant fish were always rare in reservoirs; most catches were still around three to five pounds or even less than two pounds.
After catching several smaller fish, Shi Tian discovered something interesting: his bait hadn’t gone to waste—it attracted a big Wang Ba!
With so many people fishing around here, how could this Jia Yu dare to show its face? It was utterly audacious!
Shi Tian had little experience with this, and he wasn't sure how to approach Xia Shou. A plastic particle bounced off Wang Ergou's head as Shi Tian pointed to Jia Yu in the water. Wang Ergou should have some experience with this creature!
They couldn't afford to make any noise; Jia Yu was quite alert and would flee at the slightest disturbance. If it swam into deeper water, catching it would become a challenge!
Wang Ergou peeked in the direction Shi Tian indicated, quickly took off his shoes, and quietly approached Shi Tian with a net in hand. He dipped the net into the water and then pulled it back, revealing a Jia Yu weighing over two pounds thrashing inside!
For fishermen, catching Jia Yu was considered somewhat of a sideline. However, there were people who specialized in catching Jia Yu, much like those who enjoyed lure fishing.
Jia Yu breathed through its lungs and would surface for air periodically. If startled, it would immediately sink to the bottom and remain motionless. They took advantage of this behavior by using lead weights and chained hooks, standing by the riverbank waiting for Jia Yu to surface for air.
Once Jia Yu broke the surface, they would throw the hook directly at it. As long as it snagged on the edge of Jia Yu's fins, that fish was theirs—an incredibly efficient method!
As soon as Jia Yu was on land, Shi Tian jumped up and tossed the fish from the net into the bucket with a grin, saying, "Five packs of Wo Liao for this Jia Yu—I’m claiming it!"
To welcome Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er, Shi Tian had gone to great lengths. Yesterday’s lamb leg, today’s Jia Yu, and the carp in the bucket—all were part of the dinner preparations for Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er.
He couldn't afford to be careless! Recently, things had gotten a bit wild outside, disrupting Yun Wan'er’s travel plans. If he didn’t prepare something nice for her, how could she let him off the hook?
Five packs wouldn’t be enough; he needed at least ten!
