"Don't rush to change spots; cast a couple more times. I haven't caught a Sea Bass on the boat yet! Let me experience it at least once!" After a moment, Shi Tian quickly put away the Iso Rod, grabbed the Boat Rod, and poured a pack of Sea Bass Bait into the Hai Li.
Time was tight; we had to act quickly! He switched to a Live Shrimp and, without waiting for the fish to settle, cast the Rod right away.
Using the Iso Rod for Sea Bass wasn't impossible, but given their size, it took a long time to reel one in. The Boat Rod was much more practical; fish under seven or eight pounds could be pulled in easily!
For boat fishing, we used a Bait Cage, but with such small Sea Bass Bait, it leaked out of the cage. We could only scatter it around.
There were similar baiting techniques for boat fishing at sea, mostly for shore fishing from boats. You'd find a quiet spot like Feng Lang and use Da Piao to target mid-water fish. Fishing near offshore wind turbines or around aquaculture rafts worked quite well too.
Shi Tian insisted on experiencing catching Sea Bass, and Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell and Oka had no choice but to comply. Soon we would be fishing for Sea Red Spot, so it was a good time to switch up the Fishing Set. Earlier, I had changed to Xiao Gou for Large Yellow Croaker, but using this Xiao Gou for Sea Red Spot would definitely be less effective.
The Ocean Current was strong here; if you cast your Wo Liao down there, who knows where it would drift off to! After changing the Fishing Set, I reminded Shi Tian while Oka hooked on a Live Shrimp and cast downriver.
We couldn't waste those Wo Liao; they could still attract some fish. With the Ocean Current flowing this way and Shi Tian scattering Wo Liao over there, it was perfect for luring fish towards us. Even if we only caught one or two, it would help Shi Tian recover some costs.
Oka prompted Shi Tian, who agreed and quickly reeled in before casting downstream again! As soon as he reeled in, the Rod jerked—he had a catch!
See? Casting Wo Liao here actually has its uses! I just threw out Sea Bass-specific Wo Liao, and look at the immediate results! I glanced proudly at Oka and Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell while Shi Tian tightened his drag and began cranking the Wheel to reel in.
The Rod was still that Electric Reel; Shi Tian hadn’t connected it to power since he wasn’t planning on catching anything too big—there was no need!
Hearing that Shi Tian was using Sea Bass-specific Wo Liao piqued Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell's curiosity. She picked up her Rod and cast next to Oka as he reeled in his catch.
Surprisingly enough, this Sea Bass-specific Wo Liao worked wonders! Before Shi Tian could even bring his fish aboard, Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell and Oka had already caught two or three!
As we fished off the side of the boat, a flock of crows flew overhead. Was that a Sea Bass? No, that looked like Zhang Hong! But it didn’t quite match—was it a new variety of Tuna?
"Brother! I caught a made-up Zhang Hong! Help me with the Net!" After patting his head, Shi Tian called out to Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell.
There were two Nets on board: one at the Stern where Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell and Oka were using it to net Sea Bass, and another on the opposite side of the boat that Oka had used earlier but hadn’t brought back yet.
As Oka netted a Sea Bass, he leaned over the bow to take a look—he wanted to see what kind of makeup Shi Tian’s Zhang Hong had!
With one swift motion of the Net, he expertly scooped up a fish over half a meter long. He lifted it onto the boat with ease.
"You’ve put on too much foundation for this Zhang Hong; it's all yellow!" he teased Shi Tian before leaving the Net with him and turning back to grab another Net from the other side of the boat to continue fishing for Sea Bass.
Shi Tian found that this Sea Bass Bait was indeed effective; after dropping a bag of Wo Liao into the water, he was getting bites continuously. Unfortunately, as the Wo Liao drifted with the Ocean Current further away from the boat, it was becoming harder to reach!
"What do you mean by putting on too much foundation?" Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell asked casually. Just then, she hooked another fish!
Uh-oh. When Scallions and Ginger asked that question, Oka hesitated for three or four seconds without being able to come up with an answer!
You don't know either? Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell is quite curious. Hai Li and Oka don’t recognize fish? From nearshore to the open sea, where hasn’t Oka gone fishing?
They do know it, but this thing has over a hundred names. I was just considering which name sounds better; I couldn't decide for a moment!
Hearing this, Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell probably guessed it! After putting on makeup, Zhang Hong has over a hundred names. Qing Gan? Huang Gan? Or is it Oilfish? It seems to be called Dan Xiong or Anyu as well!
Azure Sweetfish? How big? With the rod, the fish flew onto the boat. Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell didn't plan to catch Sea Bass anymore and decided to take a look at Shi Tian catching a big Qing Gan.
Oilfish.
This fish is nice, weighing over twenty pounds. Xiao Ri Zi likes to use this for Sashimi, but anything below seven or eight pounds can't be made into Sashimi; the texture isn’t good!
Qing Gan and Zhang Hong are indeed related; saying they are brothers wouldn’t be an issue because Zhang Hong's nickname is Hong Gan or Red Snapper. However, Zhang Hong is much larger, easily reaching one and a half meters, while Qing Gan struggles to reach one meter at best, with only a lifespan of six or seven years!
