Reeling in the line, Shi Tian noticed that the shrimp on the hook had vanished without a trace. It must have happened while he was chatting with Oka; otherwise, he would have noticed! He quickly attached another Live Shrimp and cast his rod back into the water. This time, he decided to be quiet and simply focused on teasing the fish.
Watching Scallion and Ginger Remove Fishy Smell and Oka catch fish one after another, Shi Tian couldn’t help but feel puzzled. They were in the same waters, using the same bait, yet they had already caught seven or eight fish while he hadn’t hooked a single one!
As he reeled in his line, Shi Tian was taken aback to find that his Live Shrimp had been nibbled away again, and there was still no movement on his rod! After several more casts, he had lost several Live Shrimp without catching anything. Determined, Shi Tian decided it was time to confront the fish lurking below!
Since there might be Xiao Yu causing a ruckus nearby, he thought it best to change locations rather than compete with those pesky fish. Glancing back at Shi Tian, Scallion and Ginger smiled and encouraged him.
It wasn’t just freshwater fishing that had Xiao Yu causing trouble; sea fishing had its share of disruptions too. Especially in Sanya, where the water temperature was high and Xiao Yu were particularly active, it was a common occurrence!
Having lost seven or eight shrimp without catching a single fish made Shi Tian feel like he was missing out. He resolved that no matter how small the fish was, he would drag it up today and dry it out as fish jerky!
No more boat rod; he switched to his custom shore fishing rod, cut off the line setup, and tied on a smaller hook. He was determined to catch that sneaky fish that had stolen his shrimp!
The advantage of the custom shore rod was its sensitivity; he could feel every nibble from any fish trying to eat the bait! Unfortunately, his rod was long; a three-meter rod would have been better for fishing from the boat.
Casting back to the same spot, he closed his eyes and felt the Fish Bait slowly sink toward the bottom—ten meters, twenty meters, thirty meters—and finally sensed a fish biting!
Timing it just right, he lifted the rod to set the hook. Feeling the vibrations travel through the rod, Shi Tian smiled slightly and said to himself: "Got it! It’s definitely a Xiao Yu; I probably won’t get my shrimp money back!"
Hearing this, Scallion and Ginger shook their heads in unison with Oka, amused by his childlike enthusiasm!
However, their amusement quickly faded as Shi Tian shouted: "Quick! Grab the Net! Help me land this fish!"
Seeing Shi Tian’s slightly bent rod left them confused. What fish? It couldn’t be more than three pounds! After some banter, Scallion and Ginger picked up the net and moved toward Shi Tian. Looking down at the water, they immediately shouted: "Don’t rush! Let out some line; I’ll scoop it up for you!"
The fish turned out to be quite small—just over a pound—but its body was golden all over; this one was valuable!
With one scoop of the net, a Large Yellow Croaker weighing just over a pound was brought aboard. Shi Tian quickly removed the hook from its mouth and tossed it into the Fish Bucket.
Even if caught alive, it was unlikely that this Large Yellow Croaker would survive for long. If it lived for a while, they could throw it in an ice bucket later; if it survived long enough to be kept in a tank at a store, it would surely make all those fishermen envious!
"Quick! Over there!" Shi Tian called out as he switched to Xiao Gou bait. This bait had a small mouth and wouldn’t be able to catch anything on a large hook! With one Large Yellow Croaker secured in his catch bag, he shouted again to Scallion and Ginger Remove Fishy Smell and Oka.
Large Yellow Croakers were social creatures; typically, they would hide together in small corners and were notoriously lazy. However, they were extremely sensitive to sound; even a little noise would send them scurrying away. To catch them successfully, one needed to be careful not to make too much commotion!
As Scallion and Ginger switched the hook, Shi Tian cast his line back into the water, closing his eyes to feel the rhythm of fishing. By the time they had finished changing the hook, Shi Tian had already caught his second Large Yellow Croaker. This time, he didn't need Scallion and Ginger to help him; with a swift lift of his rod, he brought the fish flying out of the water!
Watching Shi Tian haul in one Large Yellow Croaker after another, Scallion and Ginger felt a bit frustrated. They hadn’t brought their Iso Rods this time, only a Boat Rod, as they were there to shoot a video. The Boat Rod wasn’t as sensitive as the Iso Rod, making it harder to catch Large Yellow Croakers! While Shi Tian had already caught four or five fish, they had barely started.
The boat drifted with the ocean current, moving further away from the Fishing Spot for Large Yellow Croakers. Scallion and Ginger decided to restart the boat and head back to the spot. However, with just this little movement, the Large Yellow Croakers immediately stopped biting!
After waiting for over twenty minutes, the three of them exchanged glances and finally shared a resigned smile. "Let’s go! We’ve had enough! Let’s switch to catching Sea Bass!" Shi Tian shook his head slightly and smiled as he spoke.
Could they really switch from catching Large Yellow Croakers to fishing for less valuable Sea Bass? It seemed unlikely. "Let’s go; I’m packing up my rod and heading to a deeper spot to catch Sea Red Spots!" Scallion and Ginger sighed as he put away his rod.
Hearing this, Shi Tian quickly shook his head to stop him. "Are you kidding? I haven’t even tested my Sea Bass bait yet! We can’t leave now! It’s not like I’m going back to the shop just to experiment!"
There were indeed Sea Bass near the shop, but their density was nowhere near what it was here. Compared to going back to try at the shop, it was definitely more reliable to experiment here!
