Shi Tianyi brought out two packs of Qing Cao Lian Yu bait. He opened one pack and had already used up most of it. There was still one pack left in the box, but it wouldn’t be enough for all of them! They would run out after just a few casts!
Holding the bait he found, Old Kong left without any intention of sharing with the old men. A fish had been playing with the line for over ten minutes, and he quickly reeled in a couple of times to replenish the spot. If he waited until the fish swam away, it would take more effort to lure them back!
After several casts, he noticed a difference in the bites this time; the fish were much more aggressive than the previous Bai Li. As he lifted the rod, the strength felt similar to that of the last fish, but given the different float movement, it was likely a Hua Lian!
With similar strength, a Hua Lian would definitely be larger than a Bai Li. This time, there were fewer people helping; only Old Wen and Yi Laotou came over. Old Liu and Old Kong had switched to a thicker line and were busy on their own, leaving no time to join in on the excitement!
As he lowered the net into the water, Yi Laotou took charge of the knife. When the fish was finally on land, it had a big head and looked stunning! A Bighead Carp! With such a large fish, there was no doubt about its flavor; he planned to cook Chopped Chili Fish Head for lunch! Holding the fish with both hands using a Control Fish Tool, Yi Laotou casually remarked before tossing it into Yu Hu.
As Shi Tian prepared to cast again, he was stopped by Yi Laotou. “Xiao Tian, come here and tell me how this new fishing method works online. I want to try it too!” Yi Laotou dragged him to his fishing spot and opened his Rod Case to take out his nine-meter rod.
“Master, you don’t need a nine-meter rod; casting it is too exhausting. An eight-meter or seven-meter rod will do!” Stopping Yi Laotou’s idea, Shi Tian returned to his fishing spot to fetch an eight-meter line setup for him while also bringing over some bait from his bucket.
“Master, this method requires a thicker line—six or seven main line with four sub-line. You should use this setup! And change the float!” After helping Yi Laotou switch lines and guiding him through several casts, Shi Tian intended to return to his own spot but found that Old Wen had already taken over!
After grabbing some bait from Old Kong’s area, Old Wen had claimed Shi Tian’s chair and was using Shi Tian’s rod with bait he had taken from Old Kong. He had already made four casts and was starting to get bites!
Returning to his house, Shi Tian brought Old Wen a bottle of water and handed it over with a grin. “Old man, please keep an eye on things for me! I’ll be busy over there; you should drink some water and take a break!”
Glancing at Shi Tianyi, Old Wen accepted the water with one hand while taking a small box of bait from Shi Tian’s other hand. “I’m getting old; once I sit down, I don’t want to move anymore. Why don’t you go fish over there? I’ll rest here for a bit!”
After saying that, Old Wen pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and handed them to Shi Tian. “Why don’t you go smoke a few while you rest? You’ve caught two big fish already; let me enjoy myself too!”
Before Shi Tian could respond, Old Wen hooked another fish; the sound of splashing water echoed again as Shi Tian stood by dumbfounded!
With only two packs of bait in total and having used up half himself, there was no share left for him among the four old men!
In fact, after catching those two fish, Shi Tian didn’t dare catch more. He had already stolen Yi Laotou’s thunder; who knew if Yi Laotou would hold it against him later?
Returning to where he had caught Bai Tiao earlier, he took out his small rod and continued fishing for Bai Tiao. As the old men caught fish, he also helped them net their catches! His craving wasn’t satisfied yet, but soon those two packs of bait would run out!
Yi Laotou clearly had talent for fishing; Shi Tian had only briefly explained it to him once before they ran out of bait when he managed to catch a large Bai Li. However, that fish seemed even bigger than his own catch earlier, which made Old Wen less pleased!
As the bait ran out, a few people reluctantly reeled in their lines. Seeing Shi Tian preparing to take his Customized Rod down the mountain, Old Liu quickly approached to advise, "Xiao Tian, just leave the Rod here. No need to take it back; we’ll fish again this afternoon!"
Old Liu's thoughts were clear to Shi Tian. "No need, I can take it back. This Rod isn't heavy at all!" Shi Tian replied with a grin. "I have things to do this afternoon! I probably won’t be able to join you for fishing; someone at the shop needs to take a leave, so I have to go check on things."
Old Liu was at a loss for words; he didn't know how to respond to Shi Tian's statement. It was Old Kong who stepped forward and lightly tapped Shi Tian on the back of his head. "Just focus on watching the shop. Leave the Rod here so you don’t get distracted!"
Making a face at Old Kong, Shi Tian left the Rod behind, locked up the house, and the group headed down the mountain with the big Fathead that Shi Tian had caught.
Old Liu bought a set of Rods, and he definitely needed a backup set as well. Shi Tian hadn’t planned on taking his Rod home either; there hadn’t been anyone in the group chat arranging fishing trips lately. He could easily catch fish with just a branch if he wanted to; he was merely teasing Old Liu.
Back at the villa, he dumped the White-striped Wheat Ears from the Fish Bucket directly into the Small Artificial Lake in the yard. There was no need to acclimate them; whatever survived would survive, and those that didn’t could be fished out later. He planned to take some bait to the shop in the evening!
"Master, we need to cultivate some aquatic plants and Fu Ping in the Artificial Lake in the villa area. Manager Liu gave me a list two days ago; can you help me decide which ones are suitable?"
After filling it with water for half a morning, the Small Artificial Lake in the yard was already over ten centimeters deep. However, under such strong sunlight, one could see the pebbles at the bottom clearly. Shi Tian genuinely worried whether the Little White Strips could withstand the scorching sun!
Fortunately, Mountain Spring Water was cool; no matter how hot it got outside, the water temperature wouldn’t rise too much. It was just a matter of whether they could endure these tough days ahead!
"Alright, I’ll take a look later. But what’s there to consider? As long as they suit this climate and are non-toxic, that’s all that matters! There’s no need for too many details! If you want something auspicious for peace of mind, just pick plants with good names; it doesn’t really matter beyond that!"
Responding casually to Shi Tian, Yi Laotou pointed at two Huanghuali trees by the edge of the Artificial Lake. "These two trees are nice—Huanghuali, right? But why did you only plant two? You should plant at least three!"
There were indeed considerations when planting trees in a yard; planting just one wouldn’t work—one tree alone is weak! Two trees would struggle against each other! For smaller yards, three trees were ideal; for larger ones, eight would be better!
"I ordered three trees; another one will arrive in a couple of days!" Shi Tian sighed in response to Yi Laotou. "My yard is large; I initially planned to plant eight trees, but saplings are too expensive! I’ll just plant these three for now!"
At twenty thousand each, three trees would cost sixty thousand—this already made Shi Tian wince!
Eight trees would be great, but spending over a hundred thousand just for some trees was something Shi Tian couldn’t quite grasp yet. During New Year’s, Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er would come over and definitely stay here; he needed to make money quickly to renovate the house!
"You can’t afford a few trees? How much is each tree? I’ll give you one!" Hearing Shi Tian lamenting about money, Old Kong scoffed lightly.
