"That's for baiting," Shi Tian said, startling Wang Gou, who stepped back with his bucket. "To catch Giant Blue, you need Field Snail. This stuff works wonders!"
After saying that, Wang Gou dashed off with the Field Snail, fearing that Shi Tian might snatch some of his precious bait. It costs over ten dollars a pound! What if Shi Tian casually took three or five pounds? How would they catch enough Giant Blue in the reservoir then?
Watching Wang Gou's retreating figure, Shi Tian shook his head helplessly. With his fishing rod slung over his shoulder and fishing box in hand, he walked away. The birch tip was out of the question; the recent typhoon had caused the water level to rise, making it impossible to fish unless he ventured four or five meters in!
Once he set up the fishing box and baited the hook, he aimed to catch Fei Qian today. He cast lightly but the hook didn’t fly out!
Reeling it back in, he re-baited and cast again—still nothing!
Looking around to ensure no one was watching him, he decided to mix some bait and cast a big whip this time; it felt much better!
Shi Tian hadn’t used Chang Gan much before, and the eight-meter rod techniques taught by Air Force didn’t seem very practical here. A big whip cast was definitely the way to go!
After several casts, he adjusted the float and mixed more bait for the spot—time to prepare for some serious fishing! While Shi Tian was at work, a few guys in the distance were also preparing their spots. Compared to them, Shi Tian’s two Field Snails seemed rather meager!
One after another, they tossed Field Snails into their spots, making Shi Tian’s eyelids twitch. That must be at least three or four pounds going down there! That’s worth a good three or four dollars!
With this kind of baiting method, he hadn’t even caught a fish yet and had already spent over ten dollars just on bait—half a pack of cigarettes gone!
After more than ten minutes of silence from the other side, everyone stared intently at their luminous floats, completely focused—not a single person was even on their phone!
The fish situation at Chida Reservoir wasn’t great; half an hour had passed before Shi Tian finally got a bite. Seizing the moment, a carp weighing about a pound flew up from the water. The group in the distance only glanced over briefly before returning their attention to their floats!
Sigh! I caught a fish! Aren't you all jealous? Can’t you show some reaction? I’m the first one to catch something here! You’re all still waiting on Air Force!
Glancing back at the group, Shi Tian felt a twinge of regret; if he had known earlier, he would have played around longer. No one came over to celebrate his catch!
Re-baiting his hook, he continued casting with his big whip while casually adding some Wo Liao to his spot—today’s going to be a blast; I’ll make you all jealous!
Shi Tian's spot was doing quite well; after some time and adding more bait, he occasionally pulled up a Grass Carp or Carp, and sometimes even a couple of Bighead Carps.
Despite catching so many fish, it seemed like the group in the distance didn’t notice him at all. They remained fixated on their floats, only changing bait every hour or so before casting again as if they were glued there!
As dawn broke, more people gathered around; on his right was a group using lures while on his left were Wang Gou and others. Further up were several scattered individuals setting up reinforced steel rods in the water.
Checking the time—it was almost nine o'clock—he still needed to send out some packages. It looked like he could only fish for a little while longer this morning!
Packing up his rod, he walked over to where Dog and Lobster were. Just as Shi Tian was about to greet them, Lobster suddenly yanked his rod as if it were snagged on something!
Caught! Big one! With a light shout, Lobster stood up ready for battle but lost his footing and fell into the water with a splash!
For fishing, Lobster was truly dedicated. His head plunged underwater while his grip on the rod remained firm; he even adjusted his stance to keep the hooked fish from slipping off without pulling too hard on the rod!
Seeing the situation, Shi Tian quickly threw the Fishing Box from Xia Shou and rushed over to help. They had come out to fish, and it was crucial not to let things escalate to a life-or-death situation! How much could a fish be worth? Was it really worth risking a life for a few bucks?
Shi Tian moved swiftly, with the dog even faster! He jumped off the Fishing Platform and dashed to the lobster's side, completely disregarding its well-being, and reached out to grab the lobster's Rod!
As fellow fishermen, and having fished alongside the lobster more than once, he knew very well whether the lobster could swim or not. The lobster was struggling in the water but still managed to adjust the angle of the Rod based on its feel; it was clear that it was fine!
However, the water was too shallow. Sitting down didn’t provide enough leverage, and standing up was impossible. That’s why the lobster was in such a predicament with the fish on the Rod!
The dog tried to snatch the Rod, but the lobster held on tightly, while the fish on the Rod was exerting itself at that moment. The three were locked in a stalemate!
Having hooked such a large fish, the lobster wasn’t about to hand over the Rod to the dog. It was easy to give up the Rod, but getting it back would be difficult—likely leaving only Ling Fish’s life at stake!
Fortunately, this standoff didn’t last long; Shi Tian had already rushed over. He didn’t care about their thoughts and reached out to pull up the lobster!
Once he found his footing, the lobster coughed up some river water and said to the dog, “Let go! I can handle this myself! Go check on your Rod! Or go assemble the biggest Ping Net! This fish weighs at least eighty pounds!”
Now that the lobster was standing up, the dog realized there was no chance for fun anymore. It shot Shi Tian a glance before turning back to its Fishing Spot to put away its Rod and then headed ashore to assemble the Ping Net!
Shi Tian now understood that it wasn’t that no one was watching when he caught fish; it was just that his catches were too small. This group of people wasn’t like Old Zhang and his crew—they wouldn’t bother watching!
Now that the lobster had hooked a big fish, everyone gathered around—some were observing, others assembling Ping Nets, taking photos and videos with their phones, and even live-streaming directly while calling their Fishing Buddies!
A big catch—a Giant Blue weighing a pound—was being live-streamed right there!
Coordinates were shared: anything under a thousand would arrive that day; anything over would arrive the next day!
“Old Wang, yesterday you had a soft Chinese cigarette that got into my car; send me your coordinates privately, and I’ll deliver it!”
The lobster was using its Star Brand Rod to catch fish. Seeing so many people watching, Shi Tian wisely stepped back from the water to give them a better view. As long as he didn’t snap his Rod or lose his line, perhaps he could even boost his Rod’s reputation!
