Without the Control Fish Tool, Shi Tian did have a Fishing Box, but he had no intention of letting Sun Lang use it!
With dinner in sight, Shui Bi Zhang immediately perked up. He glanced at his Float, saw no movement, and rushed over with the Control Fish Tool. "Haha! Three pounds and four ounces! Boss Shi, it's all on you for tonight's dinner!" After weighing the fish, Shui Bi Zhang kindly showed the Control Fish Tool to Shi Tian before placing the fish beside him and running back to continue fishing.
At this time, it had cooled down a bit, and the fish were biting much better than before. Shi Tian shook his head as he stood up, retracting his Rod. It was impossible to fish properly among this group; he decided to go solo and fish in freshwater! But that wasn't possible either! Su Xueyi might be in class! Sigh, this week had really been wasted because of these guys!
Carrying the fish back to the shop, Shi Tian headed straight upstairs. Cooking dinner? That was out of the question. In just an hour, Su Xueyi would be off work. He needed to process this fish quickly and then have some serious fishing time!
He bled the fish, removed its head and tail, skinned it, sliced it into one-centimeter-thick pieces for plating, squeezed some wasabi onto a plate, poured some soy sauce, and carried it downstairs.
He glanced at Su Xueyi in the shop. "Stonefish Sashimi—want to give it a try?"
Shi Tian had eaten Tuna Sashimi and Salmon Sashimi before. As for Stonefish Sashimi, he had only heard about it but never tasted it.
Looking at the sashimi on the plate, Su Xueyi decisively shook her head.
"That's fine; Stonefish Sashimi isn't as good as Tuna Sashimi. When I catch a Tuna someday, we can make Tuna Sashimi!" With that said, Shi Tian placed the sashimi beside him and picked up his Rod again. He hooked a piece of sashimi onto the line and cast it toward the northwest.
He might not have many strengths, but he was straightforward. If he said he would eat something, then he would eat it—no hesitation! Glancing at Sun Lang, Shi Tian picked up a piece of sashimi, dipped it in soy sauce, and popped it into his mouth!
To be honest, this Stonefish Sashimi tasted pretty good! It was quite flavorful and didn’t have any fishy smell!
This fish was fresh; he had bled it thoroughly during preparation and cleaned out its innards. Most importantly, he had removed the lateral line of the fish since that part tends to carry a strong fishy taste.
As long as these points were taken care of, such a fresh fish wouldn’t have any unpleasant odor!
Not having a fishy smell was great news; however, Shi Tian felt a bit regretful. The piece of fish meat he had just hooked onto his line didn’t even have a hint of odor—would he still catch anything?
Shi Tian's actions left Sun Lang dumbfounded! He wanted Shi Tian to personally cook a fish for them; now they not only missed out on that but also wouldn’t get any of their share—it felt like a bad deal!
Savoring the taste with lingering enjoyment, Shi Tian casually took another piece this time dipping it in wasabi for a different flavor!
But as soon as it hit his mouth, that green wasabi flavor shot straight up to his head, making him shiver with excitement!
Pinching his nose and taking a deep breath, Shi Tian exclaimed: "What a thrill!"
This excitement made those nearby drool with envy. Shui Bi Zhang was the first to rush over; wiping his hands on his clothes, he grabbed a piece of fish meat, dipped it in soy sauce, and stuffed it into his mouth.
Shui Bi Zhang took the lead, and Shui Laoban was not far behind. Old Zhang and Chang Guadi also rushed forward, each grabbing a few pieces, and soon the plate was nearly empty.
"Leave some for me! I want to try too!" As the fish on the plate dwindled, Sun Lang could no longer care about the rod in his hand. He quickly snatched two pieces, without dipping them in soy sauce or mustard, and stuffed them directly into his mouth.
With just over three jin of Shi Ban, there wasn't much meat left after processing. With six people taking turns, the plate was cleared in no time.
Once everything was eaten up, everyone returned to their Fishing Spot. Shui Laoban leisurely remarked, "Fishermen should never casually make bets with others! Especially when you've just caught fish; you need to be extra cautious!"
He felt a bit of fear creeping in. If Shi Tian had taken that Mouse Grouper from his Fish Bucket earlier, he might have been crying in the bathroom right now!
Thinking back, it seemed he had shown mercy; it was actually Shi Tian who had held back! His peak fish as a Fisherman almost fell into Shi Tian's hands!
Next time he went fishing, he needed to bring a kitchen knife—fishing and eating at the same time would save on meal costs! As soon as Shui Laoban finished speaking, Old Zhang chuckled and said.
Speaking of kitchen knives reminded Shi Tian that he still hadn't delivered those knives to these guys! They had all bought rods, so he needed to make sure they received their benefits promptly.
The store was running a promotion: buy a Fishing Rod and get a kitchen knife for free. Shui Bi Zhang had already received his knife; theirs was still at the store. "Remember to pick it up after you finish fishing!" he warned. These guys were always hanging around the entrance; if someone bought a Fishing Rod and didn't get their knife, they would surely hold it against him.
To Shi Tian, kitchen knives weren't worth much—just a few coins at most. A wooden knife handle with a slicing knife and a fruit knife wouldn't even add up to three taels; it wouldn't even be worth a dollar.
Before he could finish speaking, something dark floated by. Shi Tian quickly lifted his rod; the first fish of the day had finally arrived!
It wasn't big but put up quite a fight. After more than ten minutes of struggle, when he finally reeled it in, Shi Tian's face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot!
"Shui Bi Zhang, you jinx! You really hit the nail on the head! I caught a shark; what do you think we should do now?"
A little shark over a meter long was dragged onto the shore by Shi Tian, still looking fierce. He recognized what kind of species it was but wasn't sure if it was on the list or if it needed to be brought ashore!
If it were a big shark, it would easily snap the line and spit out the hook before long—no harm done. But this Baby Shark probably didn't have the ability to spit out the hook; he'd have to personally remove it!
The problem was that despite its small size, its mouthful of teeth was quite intimidating. How was he supposed to remove the hook? He couldn't just Xia Shou it! That term didn't exist in his vocabulary!
Even if it did exist, it wouldn't matter; this would fall under justifiable defense—he wouldn't win any lawsuits over that!
Knowing everything about tides and geography didn’t help him here. "Shi Tianyi," Shui Bi Zhang called out as he approached with a net. "Hurry up and bring it in! Don't let it die! We need to know if it's on file!"
After bringing the fish closer, Shi Tian rummaged through his Fishing Box for some Lure Pliers. However, this Little Shark was not cooperating; it was thrashing happily onshore and not giving him a chance to use his pliers.
Seeing that Shi Tian and Shui Bi Zhang had been struggling for quite some time without managing to control the shark, Sun Lang stood up. He placed one hand over the shark's body; as soon as he reached out, the Little Shark obediently calmed down.
Taking advantage of its compliance, Shi Tian quickly removed the hook and used the net to send the Little Shark back into the water. He couldn't afford to mess with this creature; better to let it go!
After an entire day of fishing, all they managed to catch was one shark that they had to release back into the water—it felt like such an exhausting endeavor!
