Well, those two idiots jumped into his swimming pool fully clothed again!
Carrying a fish into the yard, Shi Tian looked at the two in the pool and felt utterly speechless. After all, it was Shi Ye who paid for the water change, so they could play however they wanted. If the water got dirty, he could just call someone to come and help change it; Shi Ye could still afford the phone bill!
How could they just jump in wearing clothes? The old man standing by the pool looked equally bewildered at their antics; these two boys really had no sense of decorum! They were already used to it and didn’t mind the discomfort of swimming in clothes. After grumbling about them to the old man, Shi Tian headed upstairs with the fish. Lu Ya would be coming over soon, and besides Sweet and Sour Fish and fish soup, he needed to prepare a few more dishes!
Just as he reached the door, he heard a splash. Great! The old man jumped in too!
After going upstairs to put down the fish and dishes, he found a thermal box and pulled out a couple of dozen beers along with some drinks and bottled water from the fridge to take downstairs for the old men.
Just as he was about to head back down, he thought for a moment and returned to his room to find a few ashtrays. These old smokers would scatter cigarette butts everywhere if he didn’t provide them with ashtrays! Sigh! It was exhausting!
After dinner, the five of them lounged on beach chairs in the yard, playing on their phones. One of them guarded a dozen beers while the old man had half a bottle of Moutai beside a plate of watermelon.
“Xiao Tian, where did you get that rod? Get me a set too!” Air Force asked Shi Tian as he sat down.
There were only two sets of beach chairs in the yard. After Shi Tian moved in, Shi Ye had arranged for two more sets to be delivered. Today, since the old man came over, they needed even more chairs and had sent another two sets.
“It’s made by a friend; it’s not on the market yet. It’s not easy to get a complete set since making this rod is quite complicated and expensive. Customizing one might take several months!”
Shi Tian had checked earlier; today’s haul was pretty good. After spending half an afternoon fishing and with contributions from Shi Ye Kong Jun and those helpers, he had earned over six hundred Points.
With over six hundred Points, he could make two Chang Gan rods along with two short rods. However, today Shi Tian didn’t plan on making rods; he intended to continue working on Fish Hooks because he needed to develop his helpers further tomorrow!
Shi Tian calculated roughly that opening a Fishing Tackle Shop would face significant challenges beyond just renting space; stocking inventory was the biggest hurdle.
Common Hand Rods ranged from 3.6 meters to Eight Meters; each set required six rods, so he’d need at least five sets—amounting to five thousand Points.
For items like Yu Hu, Ping Net, Fishing Box, etc., he would need quite a few Points as well—often one or two hundred each—so stocking even a little would require one or two thousand Points.
Adding Lures, Iso Rods, and Sea Rods would require even more Points—often three to five hundred each—so just stocking some inventory could easily exceed ten thousand Points.
Shi Tian wasn’t planning on getting professional Sea Fishing Rods for now; they were too expensive—so much so that he hadn’t unlocked them yet. A complete set would likely cost five figures; that was terrifying!
Then there were all those fishing-related items: lines, floats, weights, hooks, hats, clothes, boots, gloves, Control Fish Tools, Shovels, night fishing lights, Fishing Chairs... The initial inventory alone would require at least fifty thousand Points. Without more helpers—even if he rented a place—he wouldn’t be able to open his Fishing Tackle Shop!
Air Force wanting a set of Fishing Rods would have to wait. Once his Points were sufficient, he’d get Air Force, Shi Ye, and Lu Ya each a set first. A good Fishing Rod should be priced at thirty or fifty thousand as a friendly deal!
Thirty or fifty thousand per set meant over one hundred thousand for three people; by then, depending on rent pricing, they could rely on these three sets of rods to cover it!
A few months? Sure! Help me order a set! Let him decide the price! Customizing a Fishing Rod over several months was perfectly normal for Air Force.
His rod was also customizable, with some taking as long as half a year or even a year to complete. However, most of those were craft rods, meant for display at home!
Upon hearing that the rod could be customized, Shi Ye quickly set down the beer from Xia Shou and said, "Get me a set too. Do I need to pay in advance? Ask Price, and I'll transfer the money to you later!"
If this rod belonged to Shi Tian, he wouldn't hesitate to snatch it up without mercy. But since Shi Tian mentioned that this rod was made by his friend, he couldn't put Shi Tian in a difficult position; the money owed still had to be paid!
Today, he had handled that seven-meter rod. Although he didn't catch any big fish, he managed to reel in a few Carp and could feel the rod's exceptional quality.
Before Shi Ye could finish speaking, the old man chimed in, "Get me a set too. You can ask my great-grandson for the money." The old man didn't have many years left; he needed his rod quickly, and Shi Tian's rods could wait!
Hearing this, Shi Tianyi was taken aback and found it surprisingly reasonable. "Alright, old man. I'll have someone customize one for you. Tomorrow, pick a design you like; the customized rods can have your own patterns submitted!"
At this point, Shi Tian turned to Shi Ye and asked, "Ye Ge, I want to register a trademark for this rod. What materials do I need to prepare?"
To open a fishing tackle shop, his rods needed a brand. A trademark was essentially the identity and symbol of the rod; once the brand was established, that logo would significantly elevate the rod's status!
"Isn't this rod made by your friend? Shouldn't he handle the trademark registration? Have you discussed this with him before registering it privately?"
For Shi Ye, registering a trademark wasn't particularly troublesome. However, since the rod wasn't made by Shi Tian, registering a trademark for it felt somewhat inappropriate to him.
The Old Shi Family had always conducted their business with integrity, which had helped them build strong connections over time. The rod that Shi Tian presented would surely carve out a place in the fishing gear market in the future. If it ended up causing a trademark dispute, it would tarnish the Old Shi Family's reputation!
"I'll handle production while you take care of sales; our roles are clearly defined. The trademark issue is troublesome—I'm afraid of complications—so I'll take charge! Not just trademarks; all business licenses and tax matters are my responsibility!"
At this point, Air Force interjected: "Trademark registration is simple. Just let me know the name once you've decided; I'll handle everything else. However, my two sets of rods need to be prioritized for customization—no problem with that?"
Shi Tian hadn't expected Air Force to eagerly take on this task. It actually worked out well for him; with Air Force handling the trademark registration and accumulating enough points to customize two sets of rods in advance wouldn't be too much trouble.
"Sounds good! Let's call it Xing Brand! The rods will definitely reach you before we finalize the trademark!" Shi Tian said grandly.
Registering a trademark wasn't easy; the review process took nine months, plus an additional three months for public notice—totaling a year—similar to applying for a patent.
Air Force had connections; he could shorten the nine-month review period, but there was no way to reduce the three-month notice period! By the time they obtained the trademark, it would at least be three months later!
"That's settled then! When we get the trademark documents, I'll exchange them for your rods. Hurry up and prepare them!" Air Force chuckled.
