In the early morning, before the sun had fully risen, the four of them set off after breakfast. Shi Tian drove his Mini Cooper at the front, and Shi Ye Tian didn’t mind the small size of the car as he squeezed into the passenger seat. Air Force followed behind, carrying the old man and Lu Ya, both vehicles moving at a leisurely pace.
Shi Tian wanted to go faster, but the Mini Cooper could only manage a top speed of about thirty miles per hour, even with the pedal pressed to the floor. On these narrow roads, despite Shi Ye's added weight, Shi Tian only dared to drive at seventy.
After exiting the small road, Shi Tian turned around to head back; otherwise, they wouldn’t find that little stream. The return journey was slow, and after wandering for more than ten minutes, Shi Tian finally spotted the stream from yesterday, recognizing a nondescript stone he had placed by the roadside.
Following this stream down for a couple of meters would lead them to that waterhole! After getting out of the car and grabbing the Fishing Box he had prepared yesterday, Shi Tian pointed to the stream beside him and said to the eager old man.
Nodding his head, the old man looked at Shi Tian's lips and chuckled, "What happened to your lips? Did a girl bite you last night?"
Hearing this made Shi Tian’s face flush red as he quickly explained. Last night while tying fish hooks, he accidentally pricked his lip with one of them while pulling on the line, which kept him awake half the night!
He had picked up some gear from Shi Ye last night and took quite a bit of line. After returning home, he wanted to practice tying fish hooks. He always liked to bite down on the line while tying it, and as one could imagine, a barbed fish hook caught on his lip was quite painful!
Fortunately, he was using a size one Sleeve Hook; if it had been a larger Ise Nii hook, he would have needed to go to the hospital to have it removed.
They say fishermen can catch anything; this time I truly believe it! Air Force chuckled as he helped the old man walk toward their fishing spot.
Shi Tian led the way while Air Force supported the old man. Shi Ye and Lu Ya each carried two Fishing Boxes and had a large backpack strapped on their backs.
At the small waterhole just a few dozen meters away, everyone set up their own Fishing Spots. Shi Tian continued casting in his usual spot from yesterday but first dug up some worms before dropping his line.
The old man's technique was learned from Air Force; he methodically found the bottom and baited his spot before waiting for over half an hour before adding bait. Shi Ye and Lu Ya followed suit; this seemed to be a common practice among most fishermen. After setting up their spots, they strolled along the waterhole to observe its conditions.
Shi Tian didn’t care about their methods; he preferred a more straightforward approach with Bai Tiao fishing. He dropped in a few Wo Liao and began reeling in his line.
With a 2.7-meter Noodle Rod and a size one Sleeve Hook in the water, within three minutes he easily landed a small fish. Tossing it into his Yu Hu without haste, he glanced around to ensure no one was watching before quickly pulling out his phone. He opened Rogue Software and found the Fishing Box icon; instantly, Points appeared on his screen.
Since there were Points available, Shi Tian felt reassured. He put away his phone and entered into a frenzy of Bai Tiao fishing!
After circling most of the waterhole, Air Force somehow produced a sickle and busily set up a second Fishing Spot. The old man returned to where Shi Tian was fishing, watching with great interest as Shi Tian reeled in Bai Tiao with enthusiasm.
The fish may not be large, but the thrill of catching them one after another brings endless joy, far better than sitting there for hours with the fishing float motionless.
"Xiao Tian, you've got a big fish in your spot! Just look at that Fish Star; it must weigh at least three pounds!" The old man squinted his eyes as he noticed a series of bubbles rising in front of the float.
Hearing about the big fish, Shi Tian was taken aback. He had come here to catch Bai Tiao and had no intention of fishing for big fish!
Sure enough, as soon as the old man's words fell, Shi Tian's fishing float stopped moving altogether, leaving him in a daze. With a big fish around, Xiao Yu would surely be scared away, and if Xiao Yu ran off, what was the point of catching Bai Tiao?
He put away his rod and shook his head helplessly. "Forget it, I’ll change my fishing spot and continue to catch Bai Tiao!" With that, Shi Tian stood up, grabbed his worms, and turned to leave.
The old man was somewhat speechless at Shi Tian's actions. A big fish shows up, and you’re not going to fish for it? Doesn’t this big fish taste better than Bai Tiao?
As Shi Tian prepared to leave, the old man had no intention of stopping him. Perfect! He could catch that big fish himself!
Rushing back to his own fishing spot, he grabbed a three-meter rod, mixed some bait, and headed over to where Shi Tian had just been fishing. The bait needed to sit for a few minutes before it was effective, so the old man didn’t waste any time. He went over to Shi Tian’s spot to grab two worms. Finding the right bottom depth and hooking on the worms, he boldly sat down on Shi Tian's fishing box.
Do you need to create a feeding spot for Bai Tiao? It didn’t really matter! Afraid of attracting more big fish, this time Shi Tian planned not to create a feeding spot at all. Even if he did, he would do it sparingly to avoid drawing attention from the big fish.
Diving into the bushes again, he found another fishing spot. Shi Tian didn’t rush to find the bottom; instead, he opened his phone to check his Points. It was already thirty points! The fishing line, float, lead skin, and other small items had changed from gray to bright colors, which motivated him even more.
His goal for the day was two Points! Shi Tian silently set this target for himself!
With just two Points, he should be able to craft a new Fishing Rod!
Shi Tian discovered that the Points required for fishing gear were quite similar to real-world prices; they seemed to be based on real-world references. A one-meter line cost about twenty points in the shop; making a Wheel line also cost twenty Points. However, he still needed materials for crafting it himself, which made him feel like he was losing out a bit!
But since Points were free and materials didn’t cost much either, he soon felt relieved. After all, this was much better than spending real money!
