"This is such a mess! Can't it be categorized by purpose?" Shi Tian complained, feeling somewhat speechless after flipping through the options for a long time. He had no idea there were so many fishing tools, so many that he couldn't even count them.
After his complaint, two little hands appeared on the interface, grabbing the icons on the desktop and tossing them around. In the blink of an eye, the entire desktop was cleared up and organized into several large categories. Unfortunately, they were all under Gray's name, except for the hook that had not been grabbed by the little hands.
Clicking on the hook, Shi Tian rolled his eyes. The Fish Hook didn't require Points to make, so it was the only one highlighted, and only he could click on it. Since the Fish Hook didn't cost Points, Shi Tian was curious to see what kind of Fish Hook he could craft.
For the five elemental materials, gold was easy enough; since the Fish Hook was made of Carbon Steel, he just needed to get some iron wire. There were tools in the Storage Room for that; he could cut a piece later.
What about wood? Was wood necessary for the Fish Hook? No, wait—wood must be used for carbon infiltration.
What was water for? It couldn't be for quenching, could it? Did making a Fish Hook require such precision? That part was simple; there was plenty of water in the Running Water Faucet.
The most confusing part was earth. But without it, he couldn't proceed. He decided to dig some up from the yard; maybe he could extract some rare elements from it and create an Alloy Hook!
After gathering the materials, he unplugged the Power Cable from the Electric Rice Cooker and plugged it into the Fishing Box. He opened his phone and selected Number Two Sleeve Hook. The Fishing Box automatically opened, and four plates labeled Gold, Wood, Water, and Earth rose up. Shi Tian poured the materials into their respective plates and selected a quantity of one thousand.
Before he could click start, a message popped up saying there weren't enough materials, and the quantity automatically adjusted to thirty-two—some whole numbers and some fractions.
Ignoring it, he clicked start. The material plates retracted, and the box closed automatically with a countdown of one minute.
With a ding sound, a small plate rose up containing a heap of Fish Hooks no bigger than grains of rice—clearly standard Number Two Sleeve Hooks.
Seeing this made Shi Tian serious. These Hooks weren't worth much, but this box was impressive! It really could produce items!
"Do I have some sort of cheat?" Shi Tian said in disbelief as he looked at the Fish Hooks in his hand.
No way; he needed to experiment further. What if this box already had Fish Hooks? Could it be someone else's prank?
To experiment, he needed Points. Using Number Two Sleeve Hook to catch Bai Tiao would yield several fish in a day! If he fished all day long, he could save up some Points to buy a Fishing Rod!
At this thought, Shi Tian suddenly realized something: he had bought a Finished Line Set today but didn’t have any leader line to tie on the Fish Hooks!
Earlier, he had brought back a Line Setup; for now, he'd have to make do with that! He cut off the Hook from the Line Setup and tied two Hooks onto the remaining leader line. Although it was a bit short, with some care it would work!
As for the Rod—he'd figure that out later; if necessary, he'd just let someone else take advantage of him again!
While Shi Tian was calculating how to earn Points, Shi Ye and Lu Ya had gone ahead to the hotel. The Air Force had brought back their grandfather and arranged for him to stay at the hotel in front.
The Air Force definitely had his own house here but didn’t plan on letting their grandfather stay there. The old man was quite bold; anything belonging to his grandson was fair game for him—especially fishing gear; once he saw it, he'd basically pack it all up.
"What about Xiao Tian? Let's call him over to have dinner with grandpa; let him taste my cooking!" said Air Force as he scratched his head upon seeing Shi Ye and Lu Ya approaching.
Since the moment they met at the airport, the old man had not stopped talking, continuously asking where that big fish was caught. If it weren't getting late, he would have planned to head straight to Fishing for Big Fish from the airport.
Air Force was getting a headache from the old man's incessant questions. When he saw Shi Ye approaching, an idea struck him; he decided to use food as a distraction to shift the old man's attention.
Shi Ye, however, didn't want Shi Tian to be exposed to such high-level individuals too early, as it might not be beneficial for Shi Tian's growth.
"Don't call him just yet; he's sulking at home right now!" Shi Ye said as he handed a gift to Air Force.
Hearing that Shi Tian was feeling down, Air Force was puzzled. "What's wrong? Did he get upset because you didn't take him fishing today? Let him go play by the lake; he knows the way!"
"He's been bullied by a fish and is planning to buy a pump to catch it!" Shi Ye joked.
Upon hearing that a fish had bullied someone, the old man immediately walked out of his room and exclaimed, "You three are all fishermen! If that kid got bullied by a fish, aren't you going to help him get his revenge? What kind of fish? How big? Tell me where it is; I'll go catch that fish myself!"
The Xiao Tian mentioned by Air Force should be a few years younger than him, but he could cook and was presumably skilled in the kitchen, so he couldn't be too much younger. Just from that one remark, the old man roughly estimated Shi Tian's age.
A young man around twenty being bullied by a fish surely meant it wasn't a small one. Plus, if they were using a pump, it indicated that the water area wasn't large but suitable for fishing.
A place with big fish in a small water area was rare and intriguing for the old man. Today, he had gone out alone and bought a three-meter Fiberglass short rod. On his way back, he found a wild pond where he intended to bless his Fishing Rod, but ended up having a fish break his rod. You can imagine how frustrated he must have been! Lu Ya handed some tea leaves to the old man and casually explained.
Upon hearing about the broken Fiberglass Rod, the old man was not disappointed but continued to inquire, "How big was the fish? Did it really break your Rod?"
While Fiberglass Rods are not particularly sturdy, dragging up a two or three-pound fish should be easy enough. A fish capable of breaking a rod must weigh over three pounds; such wild fish would be quite impressive for any fisherman!
"The ones that got away are all big ones; they must start at fifty pounds!" Air Force chuckled from the side.
"The fish that fishermen fail to catch are all big! None are under ten pounds anyway; if they haven't surfaced, it's like Schrödinger's cat—uncertain and mysterious. Isn't it up to the fisherman to decide?"
"It's not that big; I saw some splashes—it looked like about four or five pounds!" Shi Ye quickly interjected.
The old man was eager for fishing; if he didn't manage to catch a couple of rods' worth of fish, how could he let Air Force off the hook?
