Fishing in the lake? Isn’t it a bit too early for that? There aren’t many fish in there; let’s wait a couple of years before we talk about it! With just these few people catching fish, it’s indeed quite challenging to sustain a lake.
If we catch some, we can always throw them back! Let’s first assess the situation and make sure no one sneaks in to net them all! Shi Ye insisted.
Sneaking in to net fish? That’s impossible. They keep a close watch on this lake. To provide cover, they’ve even transplanted a lot of lotus flowers and Fu Ping inside, just to prevent anyone from spotting it on the Satellite Map.
Don’t underestimate the patience of fishermen; they go to great lengths to find a good Ye Diao spot. There have been people who meticulously scanned the Satellite Map with magnifying glasses.
Alright, I’ll talk to Lu Ya about it. Let’s check it out tomorrow! For the sake of the fish in the lake, the Air Force ultimately chose to compromise.
Shi Tian's demolition work was progressing smoothly. Early the next morning, hotel and property staff arrived with an Electric Hammer to knock on the door, as arranged by Shi Ye.
With their help, by noon, all the areas that needed to be demolished were completed. The places where Shi Tian had planned to use cabinets for cover were instead built up with Cement Bricks.
As for plastering and painting the walls, that would have to wait until the cement dried; they would bring over materials for that later.
After finishing these tasks, Shi Tian braved the scorching sun and headed into town. He had just received a call from Shi Ye, who would be bringing the Air Force and Lu Ya over that evening to celebrate his housewarming.
Last time they welcomed him, it was with food sent from the hotel. Now that he had settled here, it felt inappropriate to ask for food from the hotel again.
Whether Air Force and Lu Ya could eat well was uncertain, but after witnessing Shi Ye's appetite yesterday, Shi Tian thought it would be more prudent to purchase some ingredients.
His trip into town wasn’t solely for buying ingredients; he also needed to purchase some Vegetable Seeds. With such a large yard, he didn’t have enough time to manage a lawn properly; instead, he might as well open up a small vegetable garden to save some money.
Seeds could also be bought online, but Shi Tian had previously ordered once and ended up with roses instead of vegetables. He wanted to leave negative feedback but found that the system had already automatically rated his order!
To be safe, Shi Tian decided it was better to buy seeds from a local store. Although it might cost a few extra bucks, at least he wouldn’t end up with a bunch of weeds!
While Shi Tian was farming, Shi Ye and the others were battling mosquitoes.
There were fish in the lake; it was just that no one had fished there before. They weren’t sure where those fish congregated.
Chang Gan used a short rod with Lure; all three of them tried every trick in their book under the blazing sun but only managed to catch a few small ones.
Let’s head down and carry the raft over; bring Tan Yu Yan along—we’re going Raft Fishing! Seeing Lu Ya catch another small one made Air Force’s temper flare up.
Lu Ya was using a Lure Rod, targeting both small fish and Qiao Zui. The lake did have Largemouth Bass and Black Fish, but they hadn’t grown much yet; Lu Ya couldn’t bear to Xia Shou them.
The purpose of fishing in this lake was simply to gauge the fish situation. Since their Rods weren’t working well, they decided to use Tan Yu Yan instead; with ultrasound technology, they could easily see how big the fish were beneath the water.
You guys check over there; I saw what looked like Fish Stars earlier! Although they were only catching small ones and Ma Kou so far, Lu Ya was in high spirits and wouldn’t put down his Rod now to head down for the raft.
Lu Ya, however, wanted to bring Tan Yu Yan to check the situation. He had changed several fishing spots with Air Force, and they had already baited them. From the fish in those spots, it was evident that there were plenty of fish in the lake, including some big ones.
If Tan Yu Yan could take a look and determine that the fish density in the lake was sufficient, they wouldn't have to search through the mountains for fishing resources anymore. "I'll help you carry the raft, Lu Ya. Give me those fish and Ma Kou you caught; I'll take them back. Tonight, we can celebrate my nephew's housewarming with some fried fish—it's a great dish to go with drinks!"
Ma Kou and similar fish don't grow very large, but Qiao Zui can reach impressive sizes, even over a meter long. However, most of those larger Qiao Zui are farmed; it's rare to find such big ones in the wild.
Under the scorching sun, carrying the raft and with Tan Yu Yan on his back, their clothes were soon soaked with sweat, as if they had just been pulled from the water. Despite this, they didn't rest. They quickly inflated the raft, tossed their gear into it, and attached the electric motor. The raft pushed through the waves and soon drifted several dozen meters from the shore.
When Tan Yu Yan powered up, both of them were stunned—the fish density at the bottom of the lake was surprisingly high, with many large ones around four pounds visible everywhere. However, since no one had fished here before or fed them, the fish were too wary; as soon as the raft approached, they quickly darted away.
So we couldn't catch any fish because we scared them off while baiting! Or maybe our movements on the shore made them retreat to deeper waters! After a round of observation, Shi Ye realized what was happening. It made sense; outsiders couldn't have come here before. The place was eerily quiet, making the fish naturally cautious.
Moreover, the fish released into this lake were wild; their offspring inherited their genes and had lived in this wild environment for so long that they were very different from those accustomed to Wo Liao and Fish Bait.
No need to head north anymore; we'll open up fishing here tomorrow! Watching Tan Yu Yan's screen, Air Force excitedly pumped his fist.
After shutting off the motor and letting the raft drift for a while, several decent-sized fish appeared on Tan Yu Yan's display again. Shi Ye quickly grabbed his Raft Rod, baited it carefully, and placed the Fish Bait in the water along the path where larger fish would swim.
The Fishing Rod trembled; Shi Ye struck hard, and the entire raft began to move. The fish wasn't large—only about three or four pounds—but from what he could see on Tan Yu Yan's screen, it was likely a Carp since it was swimming close to the bottom.
However, being wild made this fish surprisingly strong; even at three or four pounds, its strength rivaled that of six-pounders from Heikeng.
