As soon as Shi Tian spoke, he was kicked off balance by Shi Ye, who retorted, "Is that how you use the word 'gratifying'? Did Teacher Wu teach you that? Enough nonsense, hurry up and settle the bill!"
Hearing Shi Ye tell him to pay, Shi Tian quickly shook his head like a rattle drum. His phone was broken, so he hadn't brought it along. Without a SIM card and no social media apps installed, he couldn't settle the bill. "Could you please cover this for me?"
Then, Shi Tian thought for a moment; he had memorized the recipe. Should he buy some ingredients to practice cooking? With that in mind, he quickly added, "Brother Ye, how about we buy some ingredients?"
Upon hearing that Shi Tian wanted to buy groceries, Shi Ye rolled his eyes at him. "You think too highly of me. Just because I've been out in the world for years doesn't mean I can cook well. Sure, I can start a fire in the wilderness, but my cooking skills barely reach the level of 'edible without poison.' Just order takeout if you want something to eat. It's too hot to cook in this weather! Let's grab our things and get going; I still need to arrange your accommodation!"
Realizing that accommodation was also on the agenda, Shi Tian stopped arguing. He packed their things into the car, and the two set off on their return journey.
Before coming to Sanya, Shi Tian had envisioned sunshine, beaches, and bikinis. However, after a day here, he had yet to see any beaches or bikinis; all that remained was the scorching sun that burned his skin.
Shi Ye was quite punctual; they set off for shopping around three o'clock, and now it was nearly time. The sun was no longer as harsh as before, making it a good time to drive through the villa area and pick out a place for Shi Tian to stay.
"Brother Ye, you've invested all your savings here. This entire villa area—thirty villas—now belongs entirely to you!"
Leading Shi Tian into the villa area, Shi Ye did not park in front of the villa designated for him but instead took him on a tour around the entire complex.
In previous years, thirty villas would have been quite tempting. However, over the past two years, property prices had plummeted; many places were now worth less than their original cost. In such a large villa area located far from the city center, it would be difficult not just to make a profit but even to break even!
The ten villas closest to the sea had been converted into vacation rentals; however, they were barely profitable enough to cover expenses. The remaining twenty villas were only minimally furnished. "You know about feng shui; pick one for yourself as a graduation gift from Brother Ye!"
Since they couldn't sell the houses after building them, they decided to give them away instead.
A villa that might have sold for seven or eight million just two years ago was now practically worthless after construction delays caused by falling prices.
Shi Ye wasn't upset about gifting a villa to Shi Tian. He was already in his thirties without a family or children. Although he had invested quite a bit in this villa area, it was merely a financial loss for him and wouldn't significantly impact his lifestyle.
Today he had called Yun Wan'er with hopes of gauging Shi Tian's feelings through her. However, after chatting for quite some time, it became clear that Yun Wan'er had no intention of keeping Shi Tian; she and Shi Chui were planning to let him go and directly pass him on to Shi Ye!
Yun Wan'er had discussed travel plans with Shi Ye extensively—everything from gear to people and customs—until she left him feeling somewhat frustrated.
It seemed that Yun Wan'er and Shi Chui had no plans of keeping Shi Tian and were preparing for their trip instead. This meant that Shi Tian would likely be staying here long-term; hence why Shi Ye was eager for him to move out on his own.
With no reason to refuse the offer of a villa from Shi Ye, Shi Tian allowed himself to be shown around the villa area for over an hour while discussing feng shui techniques with the older man on their way back from Sanya.
The house at the back, the West Four Residence, has its main entrance in the Kun position, the master bedroom in the Qian position, and the kitchen in the Gen position—truly perfect! However, some minor adjustments are still needed inside. I should buy a compass one day to study it; I might have to make a few small changes!
Pointing at the selected house, Shi Tian said with some surprise, "You must have consulted an expert when building this villa area, right? Overall, these houses have a decent layout. However, based on my fate, that particular house suits me better!"
Shi Tian was not among the first to choose a house; in fact, he preferred to stay a bit behind Shi Ye’s villa. In terms of scenery alone, Shi Tian's choice was not the best. But there is no 'best'—only what is most suitable. That house is suitable for Shi Tian, which is why he chose it. If someone else were to choose, even if it were a good house, it might not yield its full potential.
Isn't that obvious? With such a significant investment, buyers are not ordinary people; they often bring along so-called masters to help them select houses. If they don't consult an expert and let those masters spout nonsense, how could the house still sell?
Real estate developers may not necessarily believe in these things, but they cannot ignore them either. Their goal is to sell houses, and buyers are likely to consider these factors; thus, they must take them into account.
Shi Ye made a phone call to have water, electricity, internet, and gas connected to the house and arranged for the keys to be delivered. Only then did he drive Shi Tian into the yard and park in the underground garage.
This house was somewhat large for Shi Tian. With two underground levels and three above ground, while the main structure wasn't overly extravagant, the internal space was quite ample. Shi Ye developed this area as a high-end villa district focused on privacy and environment; the yard was spacious with good greenery. The distance between yards was sufficient so that if someone wanted to engage in private activities, they wouldn't have to worry about being overheard or seen by neighbors.
Unfortunately for Shi Tian, this house had only been minimally furnished; while all basic facilities were present, it was livable for now. After leading Shi Tian on a tour of the house and confirming that everything—water, electricity, internet, and gas—was functioning properly, Shi Ye helped him move in some daily necessities before taking him to his own villa.
It wasn't that Shi Tian didn't want to stay here; he simply didn’t have his phone with him—it was still with Shi Ye. Moreover, this place was far from town without any transportation options available for shopping. Even ordering a ride-share would take at least half an hour. Therefore, Shi Ye needed to provide Shi Tian with some means of transportation.
However, compared to the house itself, what Shi Ye provided as transportation seemed rather meager—a small electric car that was so compact that Shi Tian could easily bump his head while riding in it!
Originally intending to get Shi Tian a gas-powered vehicle but feeling sympathetic about the rising fuel prices and concerned about his spending money, Shi Ye ultimately softened his stance and found an electric car from the garage for him.
Shi Ye himself wouldn’t drive this car; it didn’t match his style. The reason he had this particular car available was that it had been used by staff at a nearby hotel. They had complained about parking issues due to larger vehicles. So out of whimsy, Shi Ye bought several mini electric cars for their convenience.
He had thought they might dislike these cars initially; however, ever since they started using them, fuel expenses at the hotel had dropped significantly. Some single guests even began renting these small electric cars from the hotel due to their convenience.
