Song Ying chimed in, "Yes, I will always be here to help. Just focus on taking care of yourself."
Downstairs, Lin Dongzhe placed Xiao Xinyi into the baby stroller that had been prepared in advance, then helped Xiao Ting into the car.
On the way home, Xiao Ting gazed out the window and sighed, "Finally going home. The hospital never feels quite right."
Lin Dongzhe held her hand and said, "Once we're home, just rest well. I'll be here for you."
After arriving home, Lin Dongzhe first carried Xiao Xinyi into the nursery while Huang Ling and Song Ying helped Xiao Ting settle down in the living room.
Huang Ling went to the kitchen and brought back a cup of warm water, handing it to Xiao Ting. "Drink some water first to take a breather."
Xiao Ting took a sip and looked around their cozy home, a happy smile spreading across her face.
In the early morning, before the first rays of sunlight fully pierced through the morning mist, Lin Dongzhe quietly got out of bed. He went into the kitchen and skillfully prepared a nutritious breakfast for Xiao Ting. The soy milk machine hummed while the egg cooker slowly cooked the eggs. He also sliced fresh fruits and arranged them on a delicate plate, carefully toasting a few slices of bread and spreading Xiao Ting's favorite jam on top.
Once everything was ready, he gently knocked on the bedroom door and said softly, "Darling, breakfast is ready. Have a little something to fill your stomach."
Xiao Ting replied from inside, "Okay, come in." Lin Dongzhe entered the bedroom to find Xiao Ting sitting on the bed, gently playing with Xiao Xinyi in her arms. He walked over, kissed her forehead, and placed the breakfast on the small table beside the bed.
Huang Ling had also arrived early; she headed straight for the nursery. First, she opened the window to let in fresh air and organized diapers and wipes among other baby supplies. Then she picked up Xiao Xinyi and softly said, "My little darling, Grandma is here to change your diaper." Her movements were skilled and gentle as she chatted with Xiao Xinyi while changing her diaper. "You need to grow up quickly!" After changing her diaper, she walked around the room with Xiao Xinyi in her arms, humming a soothing lullaby.
At noon, Lin Dongzhe returned home from work carrying fresh ingredients he had just bought. As soon as he entered, he called out, "Mom, I bought some vegetables! Today I'm making braised pork ribs for Xiao Ting."
Huang Ling peeked out from the nursery and replied, "Great! I just got Xiao Xinyi to sleep; I'll help you out." The two of them busied themselves in the kitchen—Lin Dongzhe washed vegetables and cooked while Huang Ling assisted by passing him seasonings and occasionally sharing cooking tips.
Once lunch was ready, Lin Dongzhe set the dishes on the dining table while Huang Ling went to wake up Xiao Ting. "Sweetheart, it's time for lunch! Lin Dongzhe made your favorite dish today."
Xiao Ting came into the dining room holding Xiao Xinyi. Lin Dongzhe quickly took the baby from her arms so she could eat first. "You eat first; I'll hold onto Xiao Xinyi."
As Xiao Ting looked at the table full of food and her family around her, her heart swelled with happiness.
In the afternoon, sunlight streamed through the windows onto the living room floor. Huang Ling sat on the sofa reading a parenting book intently. From time to time she shared parenting knowledge with Xiao Ting: "Xiao Ting, this book says you can do some simple physical exercises with your baby at this stage; it helps with their development."
Xiao Ting listened attentively as they gently moved Xiao Xinyi's little hands and feet together. Xiao Xinyi waved her arms excitedly and giggled.
In the evening, Lin Dongzhe took Xiao Xinyi for a stroll around their neighborhood. He pushed the stroller while introducing her to their surroundings: "Xiao Xinyi, look at that big tree! It's so tall!" Neighbors passing by couldn't help but compliment them: "What a loving father-daughter duo!" Lin Dongzhe's face radiated happiness.
At home later that evening, the family gathered around for dinner. The soft lighting created a warm atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. The cozy ambiance enveloped their small home as if time stood still for this beautiful moment; every day was spent in such ordinary yet blissful ways.
