In this moment filled with joy, everyone was immersed in the celebration of Lin Xinyi's birth. As Xiao Ting's father, Teacher Zhuang received the news, his heart brimmed with happiness as he began to call everyone involved to share the good news.
He first dialed Lin Wufeng's number, his voice barely containing his excitement. "Lin Wufeng, Xiao Ting has successfully given birth to a girl! Our worries can finally be set aside; it has truly been a tough journey for everyone." On the other end of the line, Lin Wufeng quickly responded, "Teacher Zhuang, this is wonderful news! Please take care of yourself and don’t overexert yourself."
Next, Teacher Zhuang called Lin Dongzhe, speaking earnestly. "Lin Dongzhe, Xiao Ting has just gone through childbirth and will surely be very weak. You must stay by her side and take care of her; don’t leave her alone." Lin Dongzhe promptly assured him, "Dad, don’t worry! I will take good care of both of them."
After that, Teacher Zhuang called his wife, Huang Ling, his voice filled with warmth and relief. "Ling, our daughter is very brave; the baby has been safely born. You must be exhausted during this time; take a break." Huang Ling replied with a hint of fatigue yet overflowing happiness, "Yes, seeing the baby made it all worthwhile. Our granddaughter is beautiful; you’ll see when you come over."
Upon hearing the joyful news, Lin Xiaoyu couldn't wait to call Lin Dongzhe. Once connected, she exclaimed excitedly, "Brother! I heard sister-in-law gave birth! I have a niece now! I'm so happy!" On the other end, Lin Dongzhe's voice was filled with joy and pride. "Yes, sister! Your sister-in-law was very brave, and the baby is especially cute." Lin Xiaoyu quickly added, "Brother, you must take care of sister-in-law! I can’t wait to see my niece; I want to buy her lots of beautiful gifts!" Lin Dongzhe chuckled and replied, "Haha, sister! Thank you on behalf of your sister-in-law and our little niece. When you come over for your break, we’ll have a family gathering."
After learning the news, Lin Xiaoyu hurried over to Lu Zean’s side, her face radiating uncontainable joy. "Lu Zean! Lu Zean! My brother had a daughter; we have a little niece now!" Her eyes sparkled as she grabbed Lu Zean’s hand and bounced around. "I’m so happy! She must be as cute as a little angel. We need to prepare gifts for her right away and find time to visit sister-in-law and the baby. I want to hold her and give her kisses!" Lu Zean smiled at Lin Xiaoyu’s excitement and gently replied, "Darling, this is indeed great news. Let’s calm down for a moment and plan how we can celebrate with them so that your brother and sister-in-law feel our heartfelt blessings."
Finally, Xiao Ting's discharge day arrived. In the hospital room, Lin Dongzhe meticulously packed their belongings, organizing various baby items one by one.
Xiao Ting sat on the edge of the bed watching Lin Dongzhe busying himself and softly said, "Darling, thank you for all your hard work during these days in the hospital."
Lin Dongzhe looked up and smiled back at her. "What are you saying? You’re the one who had it tough giving birth."
At that moment, Huang Ling and Song Ying entered. Huang Ling held a thick coat in her hands and approached Xiao Ting. "Dear daughter, it’s windy outside; put on this coat so you don’t catch a chill."
Xiao Ting obediently put it on and gratefully said, "Mom, thank you. You’ve also been worn out during this time."
Song Ying was teasing little Xiao Xinyi nearby as she said cheerfully, "Little darling, we’re going home now; there are many fun things waiting for you at home!"
After packing everything up, Lin Dongzhe said to Xiao Ting: "I’ll go handle the discharge procedures; you rest here for a bit longer."
Xiao Ting nodded in agreement. Soon after, Lin Dongzhe returned and said: "The procedures are all done; let’s go."
Lin Dongzhe carefully picked up Xiao Xinyi while Huang Ling and Song Ying helped support Xiao Ting as they slowly exited the hospital room.
In the elevator, Xiao Ting expressed some concern: "I just got discharged; I’m not sure how to take care of the baby yet. What if I mess things up?"
Huang Ling comforted her: "Don’t worry; we’re here for you. It might feel a bit awkward at first but you’ll get used to it."
