The night was as dark as ink, thick and impenetrable.
The park lay in silence, resembling a vast grave.
Only the beams of the patrol flashlight flickered like ghostly eyes, scanning the surroundings intermittently.
I hid in the shadows, a bone-chilling cold wrapping around me.
Guo Weifeng was right beside me, his fists clenched tightly, knuckles turning white.
“There’s a safe in Wang Qiang’s office.”
“It contains evidence of their dealings with Foreign Forces.”
“As long as we get it, they’re finished.”
His gaze was sharp, as if it could pierce through the darkness. He detailed the plan.
The location of the safe, security measures, and the patterns of personnel movement—all were under his control.
“But that place is heavily guarded,” I said, my brow furrowed.
“There are not only security personnel but also a Magical Barrier.”
“How do we get in?”
He glanced at me, a glint of madness flashing in his eyes.
“I have a way to crack the safe.”
“But I need you to create a distraction to draw their attention away.”
“I’ve gathered some Special Tools beforehand.”
"As long as I can get close, I'm confident I can open it."
"Alright, let's do it."
I agreed without hesitation.
A raging hatred burned within me.
This hatred was not only directed at Wang Qiang but also at this twisted world.
The night grew deeper.
Guo Weifeng vanished into the darkness like a ghost.
I stealthily made my way toward the Fraud Work Area.
The cold wind blew past, carrying a hint of damp mildew.
I looked up at the towering walls.
They loomed like a giant beast, imprisoning the entire Park within its belly.
I pushed open the cold metal door of the work area.
A wave of nauseating malice hit me.
This place held the despair of countless innocents.
It was also soaked in the revelry of the guilty.
The room was filled with computer equipment.
The walls were plastered with various scam scripts and victim information.
The air was thick with tension and greed.
I took a deep breath and pressed my hands against the computer server.
Grudge surged into my consciousness like molten lava.
I knew that with every ounce of Grudge I injected, it was a tremendous drain on my Spirit.
I focused all my energy, channeling the Grudge into the electronic signals.
The system emitted a piercing hum.
Each disruption felt like a battle.
The screen began to warp, garbled text flickering wildly.
"What the hell! What's going on?"
Panic-stricken shouts echoed from afar.
The fraudsters sprang from their seats, frantically trying to fix the system.
But the situation only worsened.
Fear was etched on their faces.
"What the hell! The system is completely down!"
A man shouted, his voice trembling.
My Spirit was gradually weakening.
The Grudge was being consumed at an alarming rate.
Each disturbance tormented me deeply.
The system erupted with a piercing electric sound, like a wail from hell.
The entire area descended into chaos.
Taking advantage of the fleeing scammers, I quickly moved to the victims' confinement zone.
It was even colder here than in the work area.
The iron door was rusted, and the air was thick with the scent of blood.
I extended my hand, materializing Grudge.
With it, I wove terrifying illusions.
But this time, creating the illusions proved exceptionally difficult.
The iron door emitted a shrill metallic distortion.
Sticky, crimson handprints appeared on the walls.
The air echoed with anguished cries.
The victims huddled together in fear.
I knew that although these illusions were brutal, they were the key to breaking free from the cage.
With my last ounce of strength, I opened a hidden passage.
People stared blankly at the road to freedom.
Until one person took the first step forward.
Others surged toward the exit like a tide.
"Run! Run fast!"
Someone shouted, igniting a spark of hope.
At that moment, a piercing alarm shattered the night.
My heart sank.
"Oh no, we've been discovered!"
I quickly turned and headed to the rendezvous point I had arranged with Guo Weifeng.
He stood there, gripping a thick folder tightly in his hands.
"I got the documents, but the enemy has also found us."
His voice was low and resolute.
"Let's go!"
We sprinted toward the park.
The enemy was hot on our heels.
Gunshots, the growls of police dogs, and continuous shouts filled the air.
It nearly drowned out my hearing.
"They're catching up! What do we do?"
My voice was hoarse.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me into an abandoned alley.
"Follow me!"
The path was narrow and dark.
We ran wildly, diving into a deserted passage.
Inside, it was pitch black.
Only the sound of our heavy breathing filled the silence.
"Shh."
He made a gesture for silence.
I held my breath.
Outside, hurried footsteps echoed.
They were searching nearby, lingering around our hiding place.
Time seemed to stand still.
My heart raced violently.
Finally, the footsteps began to fade away.
We let out a sigh of relief.
"What do we do next?" I asked, my voice filled with anxiety.
"The documents have been obtained, but the guards here are too strict; we can't get out at all."
He frowned and pondered for a moment.
"I noticed an abandoned factory earlier."
"There’s a hidden drainage pipe there that might lead us outside."
"But that pipe has been neglected for years, and there could be many dangers."
"Moreover, we must reach there before the enemy redeploys their blockade."
I nodded without hesitation.
"No matter how dangerous it is, we have to try."
"We can't let this evidence be destroyed, and we can't let them get away with it."
We cautiously made our way along the deserted path.
Moonlight spilled onto the ground, casting mottled shadows.
We arrived at the abandoned factory.
The entrance to the drainage pipe was concealed behind a pile of debris.
A pungent stench filled the air around us.
He leaned in first to check, and after confirming it was safe, he signaled for me to follow.
The inside of the pipe was dark and damp.
Moss crawled up the walls.
The water reached up to our knees.
We struggled to move through the pipeline.
Suddenly, a noise came from behind us.
"Be careful, someone might be chasing us," he whispered.
We quickened our pace.
But soon, footsteps echoed ahead as well.
It seemed the enemy was already prepared.
"What should we do?" I asked anxiously.
"We'll fight them!"
"I'll handle the ones in front; you keep an eye on the back."
He drew a dagger from his waist.
I concentrated the last bit of my Grudge and created a terrifying illusion behind us.
Countless Pale Hands emerged from the murky water, accompanied by chilling Ghostly Wails.
The enemies pursuing us were thrown into a panic.
Taking advantage of this moment, he charged at the foes ahead.
The dagger glimmered with a cold light in the darkness.
I struggled to maintain my weak Spirit, constantly upholding the illusion.
After a fierce battle, he dealt with the enemies ahead.
We continued to run forward.
Finally, we saw the light at the end of the drainage pipe.
We crawled out of the pipe and emerged into the wilderness outside the Park.
"Ha, we're safe for now," he gasped, exhaustion etched on his face.
We dared not linger and quickly made our way to the rendezvous point with the police.
Along the way, I continuously restored my Grudge Power.
At last, we successfully met with the police and handed over the evidence to them.
