The doorbell rang.
I opened the door.
To my shock, I saw my ex-boyfriend, Mi Qiang, standing there with his current girlfriend. I was speechless.
Mi Qiang still looked as handsome as ever, but the tenderness in his gaze was gone.
The woman beside him was beautiful, her makeup flawless and her outfit vibrant, resembling a striking red rose.
Mi Qiang took her hand and smiled affectionately, "Dong Fang, how many times have I told you not to come to such a dirty place?"
I was taken aback.
Doesn't anyone know the state of their own home?
I mocked myself inwardly while trying to maintain a calm facade.
"Do you need something?"
Mi Qiang didn’t respond.
Instead, the woman spoke up confidently, "Hello, I'm Dong Fang, Mi Qiang's girlfriend. We're getting married next month, and I hope you won't bother him anymore."
I stood there as if struck by lightning.
I had been with Mi Qiang for three years, waiting for him to propose. But now he was going to marry someone else.
Mi Qiang wrapped his arm around Dong Fang's waist and affectionately kissed her forehead, "Dong Fang, be good and don’t make me angry."
I looked at him in disbelief, "Mi Qiang, what do you mean by this?"
Finally, he looked me in the eye, "Shi Ran, we’ve broken up."
His tone was impatient: "Stop clinging to me; Dong Fang is my true love."
I had genuinely loved him for three years, but to him, I was just a nuisance?
It felt as if a piece of my heart had been brutally torn away.
The pain was overwhelming.
I fought back tears and asked, "Mi Qiang, is this what you call loving me for a lifetime?"
Dong Fang looked troubled and said, "Miss Shi, when A Qiang loved you, you pushed him into the abyss. Now that he has finally climbed out, please don’t entangle him any further."
I couldn’t help but laugh.
She spoke as if Mi Qiang had been forced to be with me. Clearly, I was the one who had taken a long time to agree after he pursued me.
Dong Fang put on a magnanimous demeanor. "Miss Shi, you are a smart person. As long as you don’t bother A Qiang anymore, we can offer you some money as compensation."
"After all, you were with A Qiang for so long; we don’t want to treat you unfairly."
I really wanted to throw a cup of hot coffee in their faces. But the rational part of me told me that would only make me look more pathetic.
Taking a deep breath, I said, "Get lost!"
Mi Qiang's expression darkened. "Shi Ran, I’ve already given you a chance. Since you don’t know what’s good for you, there’s nothing more to say between us."
He tightened his arm around Dong Fang's waist. "I only have one wife, and that is Dong Fang."
Dong Fang nestled happily in his embrace. "A Qiang..."
The two of them were being affectionate right in front of me.
I tightened and then loosened my grip on the coffee cup, ultimately managing to hold back my anger. I feared that if I didn’t control myself, I would actually throw it at them.
When Mi Qiang said he loved me, I told him to get lost. Now that he no longer loved me, I certainly wouldn’t cling to him.
I turned and walked away. "A scumbag and his mistress are a perfect match; may you both enjoy a lifetime of happiness and have many children. No need to thank me!"
Back in my room, I finally shed my facade and tears flowed freely.
I looked at the photo of Mi Qiang and me on the wall, and my tears fell like pearls from a broken string.
Furiously, I ripped the photo off the wall and tore it into pieces.
I had been a devoted fool for three years.
He loved another woman instead.
I called my best friend, pouring out my heart in tears.
She scolded me, "What did I tell you before? I told you to break up with him sooner, but you just wouldn’t listen! Now look at you, feeling the sting of betrayal, huh?"
"Ahhh, Chu Jun, I'm in this state and you're still scolding me!"
Chu Jun grumbled, "Alright, where are you now? I'll come pick you up right away!"
Half an hour later, Chu Jun arrived at my house.
