I suddenly pulled my hand back. "Ma Xiangming!"
"You know you're old?"
"Then why can't you control your daughter?"
"I haven't even brought up the matter of your daughter bothering my Chao Ran yet!"
Ma Xiangming was taken aback. "Xiao Jia said your Chao Ran is bothering her!"
I let out a cold laugh. "Did she also tell you that my Chao Ran is just a poor kid with no money or power?"
Ma Xiangming didn't respond, clearly conceding.
I scoffed. "Ma Xiangming, you really can't see the treasure before your eyes!"
"My Chao Ran is a math genius! He has been guaranteed admission to Tsinghua!"
"And your daughter can't even reach the threshold of Tsinghua!"
Ma Xiangming's eyelid twitched. "That doesn't prove my daughter is bothering your family, Chao Ran."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Ma Xiangming, you really haven't changed at all."
"You used to love shirking responsibility, and you still do."
Ma Xiangming's expression darkened. "Chu Jie, don't go too far!"
"No matter what, I was once your boyfriend!"

I tossed my bank card at him. "Take your worthless money and get lost!"

After Ma Xiangming left, I remained distracted.
He always lingered like a ghost, and I worried he would affect Chao Ran and Yun Nuo.
The two kids had finally grown up; they couldn't be harmed by this scumbag.
Sitting on the sofa, I anxiously stared blankly at the television screen.
Suddenly, I heard some noise at the entrance.

She rarely comes home; why is she back today?
"Mom, what are you watching on TV?"
Yun Nuo walked over with a smile and sat down.
I pressed the pause button and asked, "Yun Nuo, have you eaten?"
"If not, I can make you a bowl of noodles?"
Yun Nuo waved her hand. "No need, Mom. I'm leaving soon."
I was surprised. "In such a hurry?"
Yun Nuo nodded. "Yeah... I came back today to take care of some things."
"I'll find you after I'm done."
I was puzzled. "What things?"
Yun Nuo scratched her head. "I'll tell you later."
I sighed. "Alright."
Yun Nuo glanced at me. "Mom, what's wrong?"
"Did something happen?"
I hesitated, unsure whether to say anything.
Yun Nuo noticed my unease and spoke seriously. "Mom, just tell me the truth."
"Is that bald old man from last time bothering you again?"
Last time?
Oh... she was referring to Ma Xiangming.
She didn't know that Ma Xiangming was my ex-boyfriend.
And she certainly didn't know that Ma Xiangming was her father!
