The base shook as if it had Parkinson's disease, and the light bulbs overhead flickered erratically, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a nightclub. Lin Yuan felt like a hamster caught in the eye of a tornado, at any moment ready to be swept away and turned into a pile of mush, crashing to the ground and becoming nothing more than a meat patty.
“Wow, this special effect is even more realistic than the five-cent web drama I watched last time!” Lin Yuan grumbled while searching for an escape route. It felt like he was playing an escape room game only to find that the door was locked tight and the key was lost—what a total disaster!
The blaring alarm echoed throughout the research facility, red warning lights flashing wildly like a swarm of blood-red eyes fixated on Lin Yuan, as if mocking his audacity. The countdown timer on the Simulator Core Console ticked away rapidly, striking Lin Yuan's nerves like a death knell.
Nan Gong Xuan stood at the control panel, her face pale and her eyes filled with despair and madness. She glared at Lin Yuan, gritting her teeth as she said, “Lin Yuan, you can’t win! Even if you stop the simulator, you won’t escape! We’re all going to die here!”
“Is that so? I don’t think so,” Lin Yuan replied, a hint of confidence curling at the corners of his mouth. He slowly raised his right hand, revealing a swirling mass of light blue Lingqi Vortex in his palm, exuding a mysterious and powerful aura.
This was Lin Yuan’s newly awakened ability—Reverse Qi Flow—a powerful skill that could reverse the direction of Qi flow. He had never mastered this ability before, but in this life-and-death moment, he miraculously awakened it!
Lin Yuan closed his eyes, concentrating as he sensed the flow of Lingqi around him. The Lingqi flow at the simulator's core node was chaotic and tangled like a ball of yarn, making it hard to decipher. However, with his Gazing Ability, Lin Yuan managed to pinpoint the location of the core node amidst the chaos.
“This is it!” Lin Yuan suddenly opened his eyes, a flash of determination igniting within them. He thrust the Lingqi Vortex towards the simulator's core node with precision and force, like a bullet aimed straight at its target.
The Lingqi Vortex collided with the core node with a deafening roar, causing the entire research facility to tremble violently. Lin Yuan felt as though his body was being torn apart; the intense pain forced a muffled groan from his lips.
Seeing this, Nan Gong Xuan’s eyes flickered with a glimmer of hope. She thought Lin Yuan’s attack had failed and was about to mock him when she suddenly noticed that the countdown timer on the Simulator Core Console had stopped!
“What’s happening?” Nan Gong Xuan stared in disbelief at this scene, her heart filled with confusion and fear.
Lin Yuan gritted his teeth against the excruciating pain and continued to manipulate the Lingqi Vortex, forcefully disrupting the simulator's core program. He was like a dancer performing on the edge of a blade; one misstep could lead to utter ruin.
Unwilling to accept defeat, Nan Gong Xuan charged recklessly toward Lin Yuan, determined to stop him. The two engaged in a fierce close-quarters battle, each blow landing with brutal force and every move potentially lethal. The clash of high-tech weaponry against ancient martial arts sparked dazzling flashes, creating an intensely dramatic scene.
As Lin Yuan dodged Nan Gong Xuan's attacks, he continued to manipulate the Lingqi Vortex. His body had reached its limits, yet he gritted his teeth and persevered. He knew that he could not afford to fall; otherwise, everything would be lost.
Finally, at a critical moment, Lin Yuan successfully reversed the core program of the simulator. The system crashed, emitting a piercing alarm as the research facility shook violently, as if it were on the verge of collapsing.
“It worked!” Lin Yuan felt a surge of joy in his heart, but before he could celebrate, a powerful force erupted from the core node of the simulator, knocking him to the ground.
A torrent of Lingqi surged uncontrollably like wild horses breaking free, plunging the entire research facility into chaos. Various anomalies erupted as if a Pandora's Box had been opened, unleashing all manner of monsters and demons. Strange runes appeared on the walls, and a nauseating stench filled the air as bizarre creatures emerged from the shadows, emitting chilling howls.
Struggling to rise from the ground, Lin Yuan gazed at the hellish scene before him and couldn't help but gasp in horror. He realized that while he had prevented the simulator from starting up, he had inadvertently triggered an even greater crisis—a widespread Spirit Energy Out of Control.
At that moment, the Simulator Core Console suddenly exploded with a deafening roar that shook the entire base as if it were experiencing an earthquake.
“Wow! This explosion is even more powerful than the firecrackers I set off last time!” Lin Yuan exclaimed as he glanced back in astonishment.
The shockwave from the explosion swept toward him like a tsunami, knocking Lin Yuan down as if he were a tiny shell being battered against the shore—weak, pitiful, and helpless.
“Ouch! My poor back!” Lin Yuan lay on the ground, clutching his waist and groaning in pain, resembling Sun Wukong trapped beneath a mountain—unable to move.
Just when he thought he was done for, Su Jiu'er appeared. She descended like a superhero from the sky, effortlessly lifting Lin Yuan and flying him out of the base as if she were an eagle carrying a chick—graceful and easy.
“Wow! Jiu'er, you’re truly my savior!” Lin Yuan said gratefully, resembling a drowning man who had just been pulled ashore. He clung tightly to Su Jiu'er’s leg, terrified that she might vanish again.
Su Jiu'er shot him a glance, as if looking at someone with a mental deficiency. "Stop wasting time and let's go!"
After the two flew out of the base, the simulator completely collapsed, triggering a widespread Spirit Energy Out of Control. The entire research facility fell into chaos, with various anomalies occurring, as if a Pandora's Box had been opened, releasing all sorts of monsters and demons.
"Wow, this is so thrilling!" Lin Yuan exclaimed as he looked at the scene before him, completely forgetting that he had nearly met his end just moments ago.
Su Jiu'er shook her head in exasperation; this guy really was oblivious to danger.
"What do we do now?" Lin Yuan asked, sounding like a lost child waiting for an adult to guide him.
Su Jiu'er pondered for a moment and spoke slowly like a sage, "We must find a way to resolve the Spirit Energy Out of Control situation as soon as possible, or the consequences will be dire."
"How do we solve it?" Lin Yuan asked with a bewildered expression, his curiosity akin to that of an elementary school student seeking answers from a teacher.
Su Jiu'er smiled mysteriously. "That depends on you, Lin Yuan."
