Jiang Chen watched from the side, shaking his head slightly. With in-laws like this, the bride's family was in for a tough time.
The bride's father dared not say much, but Han Baiying's face darkened to an extreme. Today was supposed to be a joyous occasion, yet someone was causing trouble.
"Mom, which brat dares to make a scene here? He needs to be taught a lesson," Liu Toukang, Liu Jiyue's older brother, said angrily as he followed his mother to confront Jiang Chen.
The crowd parted, isolating Jiang Chen and his companions. However, when Liu Toukang saw Jiang Chen, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Uh, is it really him?" Liu Toukang muttered, his expression uneasy.
"Brother, what's wrong?" Liu Jiyue quickly asked.
Liu Toukang's mind went blank; he never expected Jiang Chen to show up so suddenly and wasn't mentally prepared for it. Last year in the Golden Triangle, he had witnessed Jiang Chen's prowess and knew he was not someone to be trifled with. Jiang Chen had warned everyone not to get involved with the Golden Triangle again, or he would come looking for blood.
Now, the Liu Family and the Guo Family were taking advantage of the Lin family's withdrawal to continue their dealings with the Golden Triangle and make a fortune. They publicly promoted a type of Divine Medicine that supposedly strengthened the body and boosted energy. In reality, it was a new kind of micro-drug that made people feel euphoric and addictive.
As for strengthening the body, that was merely an illusion experienced by those taking the medicine at first; over time, their health would only deteriorate. Fortunately, it hadn't been long enough for anyone to notice, allowing the Liu Family to rake in substantial profits—up to a hundred billion.
If Jiang Chen found out about this, his threat of coming for blood likely wouldn't mean actual bloodshed but rather extracting money. It would be best if he remained unaware; otherwise, they might have to pay him quite a sum. After all, how much money was involved was entirely up to him; failing to satisfy him could mean dire consequences. Jiang Chen had even dared to kill Kunshan from the Golden Triangle; dealing with others would be even easier.
However, Liu Toukang believed they had kept their dealings with the Golden Triangle very discreetly—so much so that Jiang Chen surely wouldn't know.
"Liu Shao, you seem to recognize me?" Jiang Chen smiled.
"Uh, Mr. Jiang, how could I not recognize you? Last year in the Golden Triangle, you wiped out Kunshan Group; everyone who saw you knows who you are! It’s an honor for me that you have graced the Liu Family with your presence today," Liu Toukang quickly replied, his tone extremely polite.
"Since Liu Shao knows me well enough, do you know why I am here?" Jiang Chen asked again.
"Today is my brother's big day, Mr. Jiang; you must be here to congratulate us?" Liu Toukang said nervously, fearing that Jiang Chen might say he was there for them to pay up.
"That's true; however, I have matters to attend to tomorrow," Jiang Chen replied casually.
Upon hearing that Jiang Chen had business tomorrow, Liu Toukang felt uneasy but had no choice but to say, "Then I look forward to your visit tomorrow, Mr. Jiang!"
Seeing Liu Toukang treat Jiang Chen with such respect left everyone else dumbfounded.
"Brother, what is going on? Who exactly is this guy?" Liu Jiyue struggled to comprehend.
"Do not disrespect Mr. Jiang. You all go about your business; I will personally attend to Mr. Jiang," Liu Toukang said sternly.
Han Baiying wasn't foolish; she had come ready to confront someone out of anger but realized something was off when she saw her eldest son acting this way. She understood her son well enough—if he treated this young man named Jiang Chen with such deference, then he must be extraordinary.
