Old Li from the Qi Gong Association came and went in a hurry, like a gust of wind sweeping through Lin Yuan's rental apartment, leaving behind the smell of instant noodles and a mess everywhere. Where was the promised ethereal demeanor? He felt more like a thug collecting protection money. Lin Yuan curled his lip, thinking that these old fossils were indeed hard to deal with, each one acting as if they were something special. It seemed he needed to focus on his cultivation; otherwise, if someone stronger showed up next time, his little frame wouldn't be able to handle it. At that point, forget about live streaming his cultivation; he might not even be able to order takeout!
Lin Yuan turned off the live stream and rubbed his forehead, which felt a bit numb from the electric shock Old Li had given him before leaving, claiming it was to "refresh" him. Refresh? He felt like he was about to be grilled like squid!
He quickly finished off the remaining instant noodles, wiped his mouth, and sat cross-legged on the floor to begin his cultivation. The rental apartment was small, making it a bit cramped for practicing; it felt like doing yoga inside a snail shell. But Lin Yuan couldn't afford to worry about that. After all, his life was at stake! With limited resources for cultivation and such poor conditions, why did this path of becoming an immortal feel harder than going to the West for scriptures?
He recalled the Martial Arts Competition three years ago, the event that had brought him shame. His opponent had slyly drugged him, causing him to perform poorly and ultimately lose the match—and with it, his dreams. Back then, he was known as the "Jade-faced Little Flying Dragon," with countless fans cheering for him! And now? "Takeout Little Dragon" was more like it!
"Damn it! I was once the most promising contender for the championship, and because of those bastards, I've ended up delivering takeout!" Lin Yuan thought bitterly, filled with resentment. Here he was, a natural talent with extraordinary potential who should have been a leader in the cultivation world, now reduced to living in this shabby rental apartment, eating instant noodles and bragging online! Who could understand this disparity?
This frustration ignited a fierce determination within him. He took a deep breath, mobilizing the Lingqi within him to start cultivating. The Ancient Martial Arts Manuscript he had bought from a mysterious old man with half a month's salary—he didn't even know if it was real—if it turned out to be fake, he would drag that old man out and show him what "Modern Cultivator's Anger" meant!
Fortunately, Zhou Haoran had been generous enough to get him a High-Tech Cultivation Assistance Device. It looked like a game console; once he put on the helmet, he could simulate various cultivation scenarios and monitor his body data—an essential gadget for home or travel! With this device, his cultivation efficiency improved significantly!
Lin Yuan donned the helmet and found himself instantly transported to a Cloud-Shrouded Valley. This scene was far more upscale than the small park downstairs where only aunties danced. Here, cranes flew gracefully and spiritual springs bubbled—a true paradise!
Following the instructions in the Ancient Martial Arts Manuscript, he began to cultivate. The Lingqi flowed through his body, nourishing his meridians and making him feel utterly relaxed. It felt just like soaking in a hot spring—pure bliss!
However, cultivation wasn't smooth sailing. As he delved deeper into it, Lin Yuan hit a bottleneck. He felt as if the Lingqi inside him was like a wild horse running amok, causing him immense discomfort. This wasn't relaxing at all; it felt more like being in a Steaming Sauna!
"What’s going on? Am I going to go berserk?" Lin Yuan thought in alarm and quickly stopped cultivating. He took off the helmet, drenched in sweat and feeling as if he'd just been pulled from water.
He pulled out his phone and called Zhou Haoran for a video chat.
"Hao Ran! Help! I think I'm about to go berserk!" Lin Yuan exclaimed dramatically.
On the other end of the video call, Zhou Haoran was munching on a chicken leg when he heard Lin Yuan's words and nearly choked. "Brother Yuan! What now? Don’t scare me like that! I almost sacrificed my chicken leg to the screen!" Zhou Haoran complained.
Lin Yuan recounted what had just happened in vivid detail.
After listening, Zhou Haoran burst into laughter: "Brother Yuan! You're about to break through! Congratulations! Looks like my device really works well! Make sure to add an extra chicken leg for me later!"
"Break through? Is that for real?" Lin Yuan asked in confusion. He had thought he was on the verge of disaster but found out he might actually be on the brink of a breakthrough instead! This surprise came so suddenly that he hardly knew how to react!
"Of course it's true! The Lingqi within you has reached a saturated state. If you push a little harder, you can break through to the Spirit Gathering stage! At that point, you'll be able to control Lingqi and cast some simple spells!" Zhou Haoran explained, his tone filled with envy.
Lin Yuan perked up at this. Controlling Lingqi and casting spells? This was the ability he had always dreamed of!
"Alright! I'm all in!" Lin Yuan put on the helmet again and entered the simulation scene. This time, he faced the challenge head-on. He summoned all the Lingqi in his body to break through the bottleneck within him.
With a loud bang, a tremendous sound erupted in Lin Yuan's mind. He felt the bottleneck inside him shatter, and a powerful force surged throughout his body, warm and indescribably pleasant.
He had successfully broken through!
He opened his eyes, excitement sparkling in them. He felt filled with power, as if he could control everything.
He tried to control the Lingqi around him, and saw it gather in his hands, forming a glowing sphere crackling with arcs of electricity. "This... this is so cool!" Lin Yuan exclaimed.
With a gentle wave, the sphere shot out and struck a beer bottle on the wall, which instantly exploded into shards. "Wow! The power is insane!" Lin Yuan shouted. If that hit someone, it would be disastrous!
He tried again, this time gathering Lingqi in his hand to form a transparent shield. He punched the shield, but it didn't budge; not even a ripple appeared. "Awesome! This defense is unbeatable!" Lin Yuan cheered. Now, even if Old Li came back for electric therapy, he wouldn't be afraid!
He quickly opened his live stream to share his joy with his fans.
"Hey everyone, I did it! I finally broke through!" Lin Yuan said excitedly into the camera. "Thank you all for your support! Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today!"
The fans in the live stream erupted with excitement, sending gifts and congratulations.
"Brother Yuan is amazing! Congrats on the breakthrough!"
"Brother Yuan is powerful! Who would dare bully you now?"
"Brother Yuan is invincible! The Qi Gong Association is nothing!"
Lin Yuan looked at the screen filled with support and felt empowered. He knew this was just the beginning. There was still a long road ahead.
"Everyone, there are even greater challenges waiting for us!" Lin Yuan said to the camera. "Let's create miracles together!"
He turned off the live stream.
Walking to the window, he gazed at the night outside, a determined light flickering in his eyes.
He knew that the Qi Gong Association would not let this go easily.
He understood that a greater crisis was about to unfold.
But he was unafraid.
For he was no longer the despondent delivery man.
Now, he was a Cultivator!
A Cultivator with infinite possibilities!
At that moment, Lin Yuan's phone rang.
It was Su Jiu'er calling.
"Lin Yuan, I have an important message to tell you..." Su Jiu'er's voice sounded serious.
Lin Yuan's heart tightened, sensing that something bad was about to happen...
