Lin Yuan had just finished his live stream and was happily slurping on instant noodles, celebrating the perfect conclusion of his teaching debut. The aroma wafting from the bowl was simply intoxicating, far superior to the "spiritual pills" he had concocted. He couldn't understand why his fans were so obsessed with cultivation; wasn't this earthly delicacy much more delightful?
Suddenly, a knock at the door shattered the tranquility of the night and interrupted Lin Yuan's intimate moment with his noodles.
"Who is it, this late?" Lin Yuan mumbled, reluctantly putting down his noodles and walking to the door. In the dead of night, could it be one of his fans come to settle a score? The thought made him a little excited!
Peering through the peephole, he saw an old man dressed in a gray robe, exuding an air of ethereal wisdom. The robe looked dingy and unwashed, emanating an indescribable odor that Lin Yuan could smell even through the door.
"Could it be that one of my fans has come to pay their respects in person? Is there still someone who enjoys this retro style these days?" Lin Yuan thought as he hurriedly opened the door. Who knows, this old man might be a hidden master!
"Lin Yuan?" The old man squinted, his voice devoid of warmth, much like the frozen pork in Lin Yuan's fridge that had been there for three months.
"That's me! What brings you here at this hour?" Lin Yuan asked cheerfully, even performing a slight bow, resembling a con artist from the streets.
"I am Elder Li from the Qi Gong Association," the old man replied coldly, as if he had just bitten into ice. "Someone reported you for illegally disseminating cultivation methods. Come with me for an investigation."
Lin Yuan was instantly taken aback. This old man looked so wise and ethereal; how could he just come out and arrest someone? Was scamming now so sophisticated?
"Old man, you must be mistaken! I'm conducting legitimate live stream teaching; how could it be illegal dissemination? I'm promoting traditional culture and contributing to the construction of socialist spiritual civilization!" Lin Yuan attempted to explain, while also trying to elevate his own status.
Elder Li scoffed coldly, "Stop with the nonsense. What you're teaching has severely disrupted the order of the cultivation world; you must be investigated." His sneer was reminiscent of the vendor downstairs selling pirated DVDs.
Lin Yuan's heart sank; it seemed that the Qi Gong Association was not here for friendly reasons. These old-timers must think he was encroaching on their business and had come looking for trouble.
He quickly devised a plan: "How about this, let's go inside and talk slowly? I haven't finished my noodles yet; it would be such a waste."
Elder Li eyed Lin Yuan suspiciously, looking at him like a lamb awaiting slaughter. However, he still followed Lin Yuan into the house, likely unable to resist the enticing aroma of the noodles.
Lin Yuan secretly rejoiced that he hadn't ended his live stream earlier; now he could broadcast every move this old man made. He wanted to show everyone just how domineering the Qi Gong Association really was!
"Hey everyone! That guy just now is Elder Li from the Qi Gong Association. He claims I'm illegally spreading cultivation methods and wants to take me away for questioning. Can you all tell me if I've corrupted any children?" Lin Yuan said dramatically to the camera, making exaggerated facial expressions and pulling silly faces.
The live stream exploded with excitement.
"What the hell, is the Qi Gong Association really this domineering? Are they trying to create a literary inquisition?"
"Don't be afraid, streamer! We support you! Send a lawyer's letter!"
"Call the police! We must call the police! And order some takeout; what's a show without some sunflower seeds and peanuts?"
Elder Li's expression darkened. "Lin Yuan, you're playing with fire!" His face was darker than the burnt bottom of Lin Yuan's pot from yesterday.
Lin Yuan shrugged. "Come on, man, I just want everyone to know the truth. I'm defending my legal rights, and you're obstructing justice!"
"The truth? Hmph! Do you think your petty tricks can fool me?" Elder Li said as he suddenly struck out, unleashing a powerful mental force toward Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan felt a buzzing in his head, and everything went dark for a moment; he almost fainted. It felt like being bitten by a hundred mosquitoes at once—sore, numb, and unbearably itchy.
"Come on, man, that was too harsh! I'm just a law-abiding citizen here; this is violent enforcement!" Lin Yuan complained while clutching his head.
Elder Li sneered. "This is just the beginning; it’s going to get worse!"
Just then, a figure burst in, holding a loudspeaker and shouting at Elder Li, "Brother Yuan, I'm here to save you! Old man, if you dare bully my Brother Yuan, I'll take you on!"
The newcomer was none other than Lin Yuan's die-hard fan, Xiao Pang. He had been watching the live stream at home when he saw Lin Yuan being bullied and immediately grabbed his gear to rush over. With that kind of momentum, one might think he was coming to collect a debt.
The sound from the loudspeaker was deafening, even louder than the Square Dance Aunt's speakers. Elder Li was caught off guard by the sudden noise and felt dizzy, interrupting his mental attack.
Taking advantage of the moment, Lin Yuan activated a trap he had set up earlier. An electric net fell from above, ensnaring Elder Li within it. This electric net had cost Lin Yuan a fortune online and was touted as a "Mouse-Catching Artifact." Little did he know it would come in handy today.
"Sorry about that, man. The signal here isn't great; you might have to stay put for a while," Lin Yuan said with a beaming smile that shone brighter than someone who just won five million in the lottery.
Fans in the live stream cheered at this turn of events.
"Brother Yuan, amazing! That move was incredible!"
"Xiao Pang, a true hero! This is what a real fan looks like!"
"Qi Gong Association, what a joke! Let's unite to resist them!"
Elder Li roared in anger, trying to break free from the Electric Net, but it was futile. The Electric Net, though appearing crude, was exceptionally sturdy. After struggling for quite some time, Elder Li realized he couldn't escape.
He knew today was a lost cause and could only utter a harsh threat: "Lin Yuan, just wait. This isn't over!" With that, Elder Li's figure vanished into the Electric Net, disappearing faster than Lin Yuan's paycheck at the beginning of the month.
Lin Yuan looked around the empty room and let out a long sigh of relief.
"Guys, the crisis has been temporarily averted. Thank you all for your support!" Lin Yuan said to the camera. "However, the Qi Gong Association won't let this go easily. We must be prepared."
Fans in the live stream expressed their willingness to stand by Lin Yuan's side and fight against the Qi Gong Association together.
Seeing the overwhelming support on his screen filled Lin Yuan with strength.
He knew that this battle had only just begun...
This live stream had thoroughly enraged the Qi Gong Association. They decided it was time to teach Lin Yuan a harsh lesson...
