A few minutes later, I arrived at the entrance of Lakeside University, handed my pass to the driver, and rushed toward the school. It was my first time at Lakeside University, and I had no idea where the venue was. I felt like a headless chicken, aimlessly searching without knowing when I would find it. In my anxiety, I asked a nearby student, "Excuse me, could you tell me where the venue is?"
"Oh, you're looking for the venue? Just take a right at the fork ahead. But I advise you not to go there; I heard there might be a fight happening. It's dangerous."
I knew there was a fight, and if I didn't hurry, I might end up in trouble myself. "Thank you!" I shouted as I dashed off.
By the time I arrived at the venue, it was already crowded with people standing about a hundred meters away from the entrance, and security guards were everywhere maintaining order. Listening to the chaotic discussions around me, I gathered some information: the principal, Lin Mu Xi, Ouyang Zhirou, and that star were all inside. The person who had been attacked by Ouyang Zhirou was nowhere to be found.
I had to get in quickly; if I delayed any longer, Ouyang Zhirou would surely have someone take care of him.
Just then, amidst the noise of many voices, I heard an extremely piercing remark.
"I knew that Ouyang Zhirou was no good. She's just pretty and has a wealthy father; she's worthless otherwise."
My face turned pale with rage, my eyes blazing with fury as my teeth clenched together. I tightened my fists, ready to unleash my anger at any moment. I pushed through the crowd in search of the source of that voice.
With so many people around, it was hard to pinpoint who had spoken.
Just as I was feeling frustrated about it, that voice rang out again. "Honestly, we should expel Ouyang Zhirou! It would be best if she—"
Before he could finish his sentence, I punched him squarely in the face. Blood gushed from his nose as chaos erupted among the crowd following my blow.
Looking at his sharp features and shifty eyes, it was clear he belonged to that type who loved gossiping behind others' backs.
I grabbed him by his collar and glared at him fiercely. Spitting words at his face, I warned him, "Let me tell you something: if I ever hear you speak ill of Ouyang Zhirou again, I'll make sure your head ends up in South City District while your body is in West City District. This isn't a warning; you can try me if you don't believe it."
The onlookers today were certainly treated to quite a show; these two incidents would surely become topics of conversation for them for some time to come.
It reminded me of what Old Zhao told me when I was young: studying was meant to prepare you for calmly dealing with fools while learning martial arts was for when you had to confront them. Clearly, I chose the latter.
I shoved him down to the ground and turned toward the security guards.
"Excuse me, can I go in?"
The guard blocked my way. "Sorry, there's been an incident inside; no one is allowed in right now."
"I'm Ouyang Zhirou's boyfriend," I insisted. "What happened inside concerns her directly. I need to go in to help resolve this."
The guard understood some of the situation and noticed that the principal had been inside for quite a while without coming out. Perhaps allowing me in as her boyfriend would be a reasonable decision after all.
Upon hearing my words, the crowd erupted into chaos, wailing and crying out in despair.
Ah, my goddess, how could you be so foolish!
Heavenly Bodhisattva! Why? How could he deserve this?
