The woman's subordinates had turned the entire third floor upside down, yet they still couldn't find the person she mentioned.
"Miss, we couldn't find the person you were talking about."
"I knew you useless fools couldn't be relied upon! You can't even find a single person! Get out of my sight!"
Her subordinates were berated to the point of feeling utterly humiliated, their bodies trembling as they dared not even lift their heads. None of them had the courage to make a sound in such a situation. They knew all too well that the woman they referred to as "Miss" was a devil!
Her eyes glinted with cold fury, and her clear voice dripped with extreme anger. "What are you still standing there for? Get out!"
They immediately scurried away without a moment's hesitation.
Once they left, the woman tightly closed her eyes, breathing in the remnants of the air around her. As it gradually faded, she finally opened her eyes with satisfaction, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. She squeezed her legs together as she gazed into the distance. "Brother Zhao Lun, I really miss you."
By the time I walked home with Ouyang Zhirou, the entire hallway was cluttered with various items. Fortunately, each unit occupied its own floor; otherwise, neighbors opening their doors would have been startled by the sight.
Often, excitement and impulsiveness were followed by regret, and that was exactly how we felt—regretting buying so much.
With a sigh, I muttered to myself, "Let’s just move it all."
The ox may not necessarily die from exhaustion, but I would definitely be worn out. Just today, I had made three trips carrying things, and I could feel my back on the verge of breaking.
Ouyang Zhirou was busy inside, cheering me on as I worked.
I lost track of how long it took to finish moving everything. Now lying on the sofa, I didn't want to move—not because I didn't want to, but because even standing up felt like a monumental effort.
Ouyang Zhirou brought me a bottle of mineral water and kindly opened it for me before handing it to my lips. "Here, drink some water."
I weakly tapped her forehead and took the bottle from her, gulping down a large mouthful—half the bottle gone in one go.
"What time is it?"
"It's past ten."
I hadn't realized it had gotten so late. "Let's sort through these things tomorrow; it's getting late. Time for bed."
At that moment, Ouyang Zhirou surprisingly yawned. Thinking about it, she had been bustling around in the mall for so long; even a wind-up toy would need to stop at some point.
"Then I'll go take a shower and head to bed. Goodnight, Zhao Lun."
"Goodnight, Zhi Rou."
With that, she turned and went into her room to shower while I lay on the bed for a while before finally getting up to wash up and sleep. After showering and getting into bed, I fell asleep instantly.
In the dead of night, I suddenly felt something pressing down on my body, rendering me nearly immobile. I was so exhausted that I couldn't even open my eyes, and I spent the entire night in a daze.
When morning arrived, the sun slowly illuminated the world that had been silent all night. The dawn light seeped into everyone's hearts, marking a fresh start for every young person, full of vigor and promise.
But I was jolted awake by a sudden, excruciating pain.
"Zhao Lun, where did you put the air conditioning remote? It's under the covers!"
I immediately screamed, rolling out of bed and clutching my groin tightly. The pain at that moment was far worse than when I had been shot.
I glared at Ouyang Zhirou, sprawled across the bed with her eyes bloodshot. I felt an overwhelming urge to hit her, my teeth grinding in frustration. The most infuriating part was that she was still sound asleep.
