More than half a month had passed since the day I was shot. On this day, I slowly opened my eyes and, with a hoarse voice, whispered, "Is this heaven?" 0

Instinctively, I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in my abdomen made me cry out. Just as the sound escaped my lips, another wave of intense pain surged through me. The dual agony spread throughout my body, causing me to break out in a cold sweat. 0

Ah!!! 0

It was this shout that suddenly filled the previously quiet hospital room with people—Li Hong, Ouyang Zhirou, Lin Mu Xi, and Wang Ju'en all appeared at my bedside. 0

"Zhao Lun! Son, you finally woke up!" 0

I was still trying to comprehend where I was and what had happened when the four girls rushed in, crying loudly. Two of them—Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi—were about to leap onto me. I watched helplessly as they came towards me with tear-filled eyes, and all I could think was, "You better not come too close!" 0

It wasn't that I wanted to reject their embrace; having two beautiful girls hug me at such a moment would have been wonderful. But the problem was that I was still injured! 0

Fortunately, the doctor arrived just in time; otherwise, I would have ended up staying in the hospital for several more months. The doctor shooed them all outside and carefully examined my condition. "Family members of the patient, please keep quiet as the patient has just regained consciousness. Give him a peaceful environment," he instructed. 0

I watched as they nodded like little fortune cats. 0

Once the doctor left, Li Hong excitedly called Zhao Changsheng. "Zhao Changsheng! Hurry and get to the hospital; Xiao Lun is awake!" 0

At that moment, in a small black room in West City District, Zhao Changsheng was holding a knife with blood dripping from its tip. In front of him lay a blood-soaked man, beneath whom were several other men who had long lost their signs of life. A few others were locked in a small cage that barely allowed them to lie down or stand straight; they could only curl up inside. 0

"Who sent you here? I've got plenty of ways to make you suffer," he growled. 0

These men were part of the Wokou Nation who had attacked me that night. Zhao Changsheng had quickly tracked them down and brought them to his territory within three days of my being wheeled out of the hospital. 0

On the second day after I was discharged, Zhao Changsheng had sent everyone home, including my grandparents. He stood guard outside both my and Li Hong's hospital rooms all night without sleeping. 0

The next day when Li Hong woke up and stepped out of her room, she locked eyes with Zhao Changsheng. Seeing his bloodshot eyes made her heart ache; after all, they had been through so much together since they first met. 0

"Old Zhao," she said softly, "I'm sorry for being too anxious last night." 0

Zhao Changsheng immediately called for reinforcements to secure both rooms before rushing out towards West City District. Once there, he gathered all his subordinates together. With enough time spent reviewing surveillance footage overnight, he discovered something unexpected: if they dared to act violently, why hadn’t they deleted the footage? It should have been easy for them to erase it if they were bold enough to commit such acts. 0

Realizing this could mean they were being set up as scapegoats only fueled his anger further. "Get everyone mobilized! Bring those bastards to me! I want them to pay dearly!" 0

Soon after, a large number of men moved out from West City District as Zhao Changsheng used his connections to pinpoint their real-time locations. He also received help from Ouyang Xiong and Lin Tian—two powerful figures from Lake City—and together with an emerging new star among them, these three could easily shake Lake City to its core. If they couldn't find these attackers now, it would be time for them to disband. 0

Within three days' time, they managed to capture every last one of them in West City District. 0

During the following time, Zhao Changsheng remained in the West City District, employing inhumane methods to torment them relentlessly. He even summoned someone fluent in the Wokou Nation's language to serve as a translator. Despite this, they remained silent, and he continued to find new ways to inflict suffering. When one person died, another would take their place, and this cycle repeated itself. 0

"Hey, darling, what? Xiao Lun has woken up! Alright, I'm on my way." 0

Zhao Changsheng handed the knife to a nearby subordinate, signaling them to continue. He then used alcohol to wash away the blood and any traces of others from his hands before quickly scrubbing them clean with hand sanitizer. He hurriedly made his way to the hospital. 0
