Wang Ju'en sat across from me, while Hu Yao closed his eyes, fearing that he might lose control and hit me.
"Ah, Zhao Lun, you really are lucky to have such beautiful women around you. How many people would envy you for this?" Wang Ju'en mocked, looking at me.
"Come on, just say it. What do you really want by coming to my house? Don’t think I don’t know you’re doing this on purpose, leaking all the information to Lin Mu Xi, who then passes it on to me. What’s your real intention?" I said with a grim expression. After hearing this, Hu Yao opened his eyes and looked at Wang Ju'en, waiting for my next instruction. Whenever I mentioned doing something to her, Hu Yao would immediately take action without caring about any delicate feelings. Lin Mu Xi and Ouyang Zhirou had fallen asleep on my shoulder, unaware of what I had just said.
"Oh? I didn’t expect you to know all this. Can you tell me how you found out?"
Wang Ju'en was stunned by my words, showing no other reaction.
"Heh, do you really think the daughter of Wang Shang would stumble over something like not signing a contract? Since you have no intention in that regard, it means you’ve already decided that Lin Mu Xi would come to find me and tell me about this matter. If I’m not mistaken, you planned it this way from the beginning; you just wanted to use Lin Mu Xi to probe into who I am. As for whether Lin Mu Xi succeeds or fails, that doesn’t matter to you because your goal has already been achieved. Am I wrong?"
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Wang Ju'en clapped her hands. "Not bad; that’s indeed what I was thinking. As for why I came to your house tonight, well, that’s something you shouldn’t know for now."
Boom!
With a loud crash, everyone in the room was thrown out. As we flew through the air, I tightly held onto Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi beneath me. Wang Ju'en was sitting across from me and due to inertia, she ended up protected under me as well. Hu Yao quickly curled up to shield his head.
I was propelled straight out as a searing liquid swept over my head and dripped down my face onto the ground; my head had been injured in the process.
The two girls instantly woke up; they had only suffered minor bumps and bruises.
Li Hong arrived with shards of car window glass embedded in his chest, a shocking sight. With his last breath, he shouted at me, "Xiao Zhao! Run!!!" After that, he completely lost all signs of life.
By the time I reacted, a man in black opened the back door from the driver’s seat. A group of men in black stood at the door, looking inside one by one until they spotted my injured face and stopped.
"Who are you?! What do you want?!"
Ouyang Zhirou was the first to speak up upon waking up. We all finally realized what was happening and turned our gazes toward them.
Our first instinct was that we were under attack! This was Lake City; inside the car were Zhao Changsheng's and Ouyang Xiong's children—who would dare be so bold as to offend both of these Black Bosses simultaneously?
Hu Yao immediately swung his fist towards them but before his punch could land, someone pressed a gun against his head!
I heard them babbling in a language I couldn’t understand when Wang Ju'en’s expression turned serious as she said, "Don’t move! They are Wokou Nation!"
"Wokou Nation?! How could they suddenly appear here and attack us?" For a moment we were frozen in place, not even daring to breathe. It was no wonder they felt bold enough to strike us here.
The man holding the gun to Hu Yao's head kicked him away, slamming him against the other side of the car door.
They nodded at each other and, without hesitation, fired a shot at me before quickly fleeing the scene!
Zhao Lun!!!!!!
The buildup has been sufficient, and a small climax is about to unfold.
Having written several chapters now, I don't think my writing is particularly exceptional. However, I can still see some readers who enjoy this book urging me to update more frequently, and that serves as my greatest motivation to continue writing.
I will strive to make each chapter well-crafted, so that everyone can enjoy it and feel happy.
Thank you all!
