I simply couldn't take it anymore. I turned around and walked into my room, shutting the door behind me and locking it. Out of sight, out of mind.
Ouyang Zhirou was so furious that her face contorted in anger. She stood at my door and shouted, "Grandma, Zhao Lun won't let me in!"
In less than five seconds, my grandmother arrived with a set of keys and unlocked my door.
"Grandma, look at him! Boo hoo! He’s always scolding me, and I haven’t done anything wrong!" Ouyang Zhirou clung to my grandmother's arm, her voice dripping with grievance. I felt my face turn green with anger; I was certain that my grandmother would side with her. Compared to Ouyang Zhirou at that moment, I was far less likable.
My grandmother shot me a glare and said to Ouyang Zhirou, "Don’t worry, dear. With Grandma here, he wouldn’t dare bully you. Just stay here and play; Grandma will go make you something to eat."
"Hehehe, thank you, Grandma!"
"Yay! Thank you, Grandma!"
This is my grandmother!
Once Ouyang Zhirou stepped into my room, it was as if she had entered a treasure-filled cave. She looked around eagerly; this was her first time in a boy's bedroom that was about the same size as hers, and everything seemed so fascinating.
"Zhao Lun, your room is so plain! It's either black or just... nothing! No decorations at all!"
I could feel my eyes rolling back in frustration. She barged into my room and then criticized the decor? What did she know? This was called minimalism; she really was clueless.
Just then, I noticed my grandfather walking past my door. I quickly turned away. "You really are clueless! Where's my pen?"
Whew! That scared me. If I hadn't reacted quickly, I would have been in for another lecture. After saying that, I immediately got up to close the door.
"Are you cursing me or really looking for your pen?"
Ouyang Zhirou stepped closer to me, our distance shrinking. I could even smell her faint fragrance. Strangely enough, we just stood there staring at each other without doing anything else, and suddenly we both blushed and turned our heads away.
Then Ouyang Zhirou seemed to have discovered something on my bookshelf. She slowly moved toward it as if enchanted.
But just as she tiptoed to reach for a book, I froze in shock.
That book was one Hu Yao had mentioned to me a few days ago. After bringing it home, I had casually placed it on the shelf. I swore I had never read it!
I quickly snatched the book off the shelf before she could grab it and stuffed it into my clothes.
Seeing my intense reaction only confirmed Ouyang Zhirou’s suspicion that she hadn’t misjudged anything.
"Quick! Take that book out!"
Oh no! How did she notice? Among all the books on the shelf, she just had to spot that cursed little yellow book!
"What book? Where is the book?"
I couldn't bring myself to meet her gaze, my eyes darting around nervously, which only confirmed that Ouyang Zhirou hadn't been mistaken.
"Ouyang Zhirou shouted towards the door, 'Grandma, what are you doing here?'"
I instinctively turned my head to look at the entrance, and in a flash, Ouyang Zhirou quickly pulled out that book from my clothes.
She casually flipped to a page, and her face immediately turned a deep shade of red. I looked at her innocently and said, "I told you not to look! I said there’s no book! Why are you so curious?"
She clutched the book tightly in her hands, glaring at me with a mix of shame and anger. "You pervert! You rogue! How disgusting! I can't believe you, Zhao Lun, are this kind of person!"
