Now there was no better choice. Although my earlier actions hadn't angered him, I was surrounded by dozens of people behind me. So, I stepped closer to him, and we both crouched down to start a game of chess. 0

It wasn't long before I lost. Old Zhao had never played chess with me before; we usually just played games together, and then there were the private tutoring sessions arranged by Li Hong. I hadn't had much exposure to chess, and my skill level reflected that. 0

After he checkmated me twice in a row, the final blow came with his triumphant declaration of "checkmate." I was left with no moves to make, and I felt a surge of frustration at being outplayed by him. 0

Old dog! Is it fun to bully a kid who doesn't know how to play chess? Well then, if that's the case, I might as well go all out. Since I've already been bold once, what's stopping me from doing it again? 0

With that thought, I swept the entire chessboard aside. "Enough! What kind of thing is this? Bullying a kid like me? If you're so tough, go find those old men in the park to play with!" 0

"Hey, kid, why are you getting so worked up?" 0

After playing those three games, I could tell he meant me no harm. But why did he insist on dragging me into playing several rounds? That was something I couldn't figure out. 0

I looked up at him. He had a sturdy build and was even a bit taller than me. If I were to describe him, I'd say he resembled Guan Yu in stature but had the unpredictable temperament of Zhang Fei. However, that didn't mean I felt any fear towards him. What did he want from me? 0

He raised his hand and called over one of his lackeys. The lackey quickly pulled out a cigarette and lit it before hurrying off. "Just got a bit of a chess itch; wanted to find someone to play with." 0

I stared at him in disbelief. "Are you serious? You have dozens of people here blocking me just because you have a 'chess itch'? Who would believe that?" 0

Since he said it like that, I had no reason to expose him; I could only go along with his words since there were still dozens of people behind me. 0

"Is there anything else? If not, I'm leaving." 0

He looked at me intently, his gaze assessing me. "Hmm, not bad, kid. You have loyalty and courage; you're resourceful and can throw a punch. A bit impulsive though—much better than your father was at your age. But what’s with that face? You're a young man full of vigor; why do you look so delicate?" 0

As I suspected, he indeed knew Old Zhao, and from the way he spoke, it sounded like they had more than just a casual acquaintance; they must have some connection. 0

I clenched my fists tightly behind my back. Why bring personal attacks into this? Can you blame me for my face? 0

I let out an annoyed snort. 0

After that, I frantically signaled to my two lackeys to follow me as we made our escape. Who knew what else he might do? The best strategy was to leave this troublesome place as soon as possible. 0

Just as I was about to make my getaway, his words froze me in place. 0

He tossed aside his cigarette butt and chuckled while exhaling smoke. "You're studying at Hu Yi Zhong now, right? The college entrance exam isn't far off; just apply directly to Hu University. There are people waiting for you there." 0

Then he turned and left with his group. 0

He had even investigated me! Why should I apply to Hu University? He spoke in a way that reminded me of Old Zhao—words that made no sense. As I watched him walk away, all the pent-up frustration erupted in an angry outburst. 0

What do you mean someone is waiting for me? Whether it's Old Zhao or you—what do you want from me? 0

As I vented my frustrations hysterically, my mindset gradually calmed down. Old Zhao! This must all be connected to Old Zhao! 0

After a while, I turned to the younger brother who had been hit. "Are you hurt?" 0

"I'm fine, I'm fine," he replied, as another younger brother suddenly patted him on the shoulder, signaling him to stop talking. 0

Seeing this gesture, I simply said, "You all go back first. I need some time alone," and walked away. 0

They watched my retreating figure until I was completely out of sight. Only then did they speak. "Let's not tell Xiao Zhao about this for now. We should go inform the boss and let him make the decision." 0

"What about Xiao Zhao? Are we just going to leave him alone?" one of them asked. "But that punch he threw earlier really felt satisfying." 0

"There's nothing to worry about. The guy he called out is way tougher than both of us. I really don't know what kind of stuff that dog eats to grow up like that." 0
