I was also a bit taken aback by everyone's actions. Standing next to me, Hu Yao noticed my confusion and immediately burst into laughter. "Hey, everyone knows Zhao Lun is my brother; we could share the same pair of shorts! So, I'll accept these gifts on his behalf!" With that, Hu Yao moved toward my desk. 0

I knew Hu Yao was trying to help me out, but there was a problem. If I let him take those gifts, what would everyone think? Would they believe I didn’t want to interact with them? Or that I looked down on them because of my family background? After a moment of thought, I quickly called out to him, "You can't take these! They are gifts from everyone because they appreciate me and think I'm friendly. If you take them, what will people think?" 0

Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement and chided Hu Yao, "Yeah, Hu Yao! These are gifts for Zhao Lun's coming-of-age birthday celebration from all of us. What do you mean by taking them?" 0

Hu Yao glanced at me for a moment before muttering, "Fine, I won’t take them. No need to be so stingy." Sometimes, a mere glance or a single word is all it takes for men to understand each other, even if they are strangers. 0

After this little commotion, the class bell rang, and everyone returned to their respective classrooms and seats. When the homeroom teacher entered the classroom, he immediately noticed the various gifts on and under my desk, looking quite surprised. 0

Suddenly, a gentle breeze swept through, causing a few strands of the homeroom teacher's hair to flutter. Perhaps it was the spring breeze that brought back memories of his youth, prompting him to exclaim wistfully about how light-hearted it felt. 0

The class bell rang and then the dismissal bell sounded; the morning passed just like that. During the lunch break, I called Hu Yao over to help me pack up the gifts from my desk and arranged for the driver to take them home. 0

At the school gate, as we were heading back, Hu Yao suddenly said to me, "Zhao Lun, since I didn’t get you a birthday gift, how about this: you treat me to a meal sometime?" 0

I didn’t immediately react and quickly replied, "Sure, no problem! Who’s counting?" Just as I was finishing my sentence, I realized this guy was trying to pull a fast one on me. Rolling up my sleeves and clenching my fists playfully, I said, "You little rascal! Not only do you not bring a gift but now you want me to treat you to dinner?" 0

We playfully chased each other as we made our way to the playground. Suddenly, Hu Yao slammed on the brakes. I couldn’t stop in time and bumped right into him. 0

I winced in pain and covered my face while scolding him, "What’s wrong with you stopping so suddenly?" 0

Hu Yao turned around and patted my shoulder. "Xiao Zhao," he said with a grin, "I can’t help you this time." He pointed behind himself. 0

Curious about what he meant, I turned around and saw a girl standing there holding a gift and gazing at me. It was springtime; the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. Even beneath her slightly bulky school uniform, she couldn’t hide her impressive figure. With long black hair that shone brightly and fair skin complemented by her natural beauty—she didn’t need any makeup at all. 0

In her youthful exuberance, she could easily be considered a goddess in the hearts of many boys experiencing their first crushes. This girl’s name was Lin Mu Xi; she was recognized as the goddess or school beauty among all the boys in our senior year. 0

Upon seeing her appear, everyone in Hu Yi Zhong should have surrounded her, but in my eyes, there was only disgust and revulsion. 0
