Lin Xiao felt that allowing the anxiety about the future to disturb her current happiness was a foolish thing to do, but emotions are not easily controlled by reason.
"Alright, I promise you," Li Hao sighed inwardly. "Be good, sleep well. Everything will be fine." He held Lin Xiao close, and they both slept peacefully through the night.
The next day, neither of them mentioned Zhao Fei. Li Hao took the three of them around the film city for half a day. Since they were filming a period drama, the entire commercial street was filled with ancient charm. Lin Tian excitedly dashed from one shop to another with her little legs. They were surprised to find that Lin Tian recognized so many characters.
By noon, Li Hao was called back by Chen Chen's relentless nagging. Lin Xiao and Wang Mei took Tian Tian back to the hotel for a nap.
As they reached the hotel lobby, someone called out to Lin Xiao. "Hey, are you Li Hao's wife?"
Lin Xiao turned around in surprise to see Zhao Fei and continued walking forward. However, Zhao Fei blocked her path. "I know who you are; I've seen your photos."
Lin Xiao frowned slightly in annoyance. "Sister Wang, please take Tian Tian back to rest first."
"I want to talk to you," Zhao Fei said imperiously.
Lin Xiao followed Zhao Fei to the café in the lobby.
"They say you're a town mayor; I thought you'd be all drab and unremarkable. I didn't expect you to be so beautiful," Zhao Fei said with a laugh after finishing her sentence, finding it amusing.
It was Lin Xiao's first time meeting such a pretty girl with such low emotional intelligence.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Zhao Fei asked curiously, looking at Lin Xiao.
"Do you need something from me?" Lin Xiao asked politely.
"I've gotten together with your husband," Zhao Fei declared boldly.
Lin Xiao stared at Zhao Fei, thinking that this girl must not be mentally stable. She was quite certain that Li Hao would never be interested in someone like her.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Zhao Fei said, a hint of irritation in her voice.
"I heard you. If you have nothing else to say, I'll go first," Lin Xiao replied, starting to understand what Li Hao meant by 'difficult.'
"You can't!" Zhao Fei stood up and grabbed Lin Xiao's arm, throwing a tantrum. "I... I'm pregnant."
If Lin Xiao had once trusted Li Hao, that trust was now gone.
"Congratulations," Lin Xiao said, shaking off Zhao Fei's grip and stepping towards the door.
"The child is your husband's!" Zhao Fei shouted, drawing the attention of those around them.
Lin Xiao felt her worldview shatter. Why would she engage in such a destructive act that harmed others without any benefit to herself?
She hesitated, retracting her steps and sitting back down.
Zhao Fei wore a smug expression, as if to say, "What are you going to do about it?"
"I thought people like you in the entertainment industry valued your reputation. After all, such scandals might just be a joke for us ordinary folks, but for you, it could ruin your career."
Lin Xiao realized she had been too naive, trying to reason with someone like her.
"You don't believe me?" Zhao Fei said incredulously, as if normal wives wouldn't behave this way.
Lin Xiao looked at Zhao Fei's delicate face and spirited demeanor, unable to detect even a hint of remorse.
