Everything is ready.
The meeting lasted about half an hour, during which people came and went. Each time someone entered or exited, Lin Xiao couldn't help but stand up.
"Lin Xiao, don't worry. Professor Niu is a leading expert in the country; everything will be fine," Nan Jia reassured Lin Xiao.
"Thank you so much, Nan Jia."
"Why are you being so formal? How about I take you to a nearby hotel to rest? You can't do much here anyway. If anything happens, I'll have Xiao Shu notify us."
Lin Xiao didn't want to leave. Wang Lei's parents were both elderly, and An Bureau hadn't informed them yet.
But thinking about how much help Nan Jia had already provided, she felt bad asking her to stay at the hospital with her.
"Jin Lai, I'll head back for now. If anything comes up, make sure to let me know," Lin Xiao insisted once more.
Early in the morning, Lin Xiao had just come out of the Disciplinary Committee after handling matters all day and hadn't closed her eyes for even an hour before arriving at the hospital.
Yet when she lay down on the bed, she found herself wide awake.
Through the glass window, she saw Wang Lei lying there without any sign of life—such a good person!
At eight in the morning, she was awakened by the ringing of her phone.
"Hey, why didn't you answer my call yesterday?" Li Hao asked when he contacted Lin Xiao around eight the previous evening. She had only replied that she was busy.
"Wang Lei had an accident."
