Li Hao was startled and quickly picked her up, rushing to the hospital.
The female doctor in charge of the examination saw Lin Xiao's condition and gently reassured her, "Don't be afraid, young lady. None of this is your fault. I will help you call the police."
"Doctor, what do you mean?" Lin Xiao was a bit confused by the doctor's words.
"Is this your first time?" The doctor asked, noticing Lin Xiao nodding. "Was it the man outside? Did you consent?"
The doctor recognized the man outside; he looked respectable but had behaved in a way that was far from human. Seeing Lin Xiao nodding repeatedly made her feel a sense of helplessness. She had encountered too many female victims who chose to endure in silence for the sake of their reputation.
"You have a moderate tear. Please refrain from any activity for the time being," she advised.
Lin Xiao's face flushed red; it made sense why she was in so much pain.
Meanwhile, Li Hao waited anxiously outside. The gynecologist came out but did not answer any questions.
Half an hour later, two police officers approached. Upon seeing Li Hao, they exchanged glances and quickly retreated.
After a while, Li Hao's phone rang. It was one o'clock in the morning; the call was from the County Security Bureau Chief.
"Secretary, where are you?" The County Security Bureau Chief's voice carried a hint of inquiry.
"I'm at the hospital. Why are you looking for me at this hour?" Li Hao thought something significant must have happened in the county for them to contact him at such a late hour.
"The county hospital reported an incident; a doctor called to say that a rape has occurred," the County Security Bureau Chief stammered.
"Who is involved?" Li Hao wondered if it could be the county head; otherwise, why would they call him?
The Bureau Chief hesitated and said, "Two of my brothers went over and said they saw you."
"What do you mean? If he's there, I can confront him directly. Send your people over," Li Hao replied angrily.
Two police officers arrived and called for the reporting female doctor.
"Who told you I raped anyone?" Li Hao's face turned pale with anger.
The officer replied, "This is the medical report." The female doctor ignored him and handed the report directly to one of the officers.
Li Hao snatched the report away and read it: "Diagnosis indicates moderate tearing due to intercourse."
The female doctor attempted to intervene but was stopped by the police. The people inside had suggested calling the police?
The female doctor replied calmly, "No, I called them myself. It's a normal relationship between a man and a woman; how could someone make a girl suffer like that on her first time?"
Li Hao's face was no longer just pale; it had turned a shade of blue with hints of purple. "She is my girlfriend."
The police officer beside Li could tell that this was a misunderstanding and thought to himself that this Secretary, who appeared gentle and demure, was actually quite rough.
"Don't call me; you can leave now." Li Hao felt humiliated like never before.
When Lin Xiao came out, the bleeding had stopped, but her complexion was still not good.
Li Hao was filled with guilt. He only knew that a girl would feel pain and bleed during her first time, but he had no idea it could be so severe. He felt so regretful that he wanted to hit himself.
He walked over and picked her up, suppressing the anger boiling inside him. "Did it hurt?"
Lin Xiao nodded.
Unaware of the situation that led to the police being called, the female doctor wanted to have the police interrogate Li Hao first to spare Lin Xiao any embarrassment.
Knowing that Lin Xiao was shy, Li Hao repeatedly reminded the doctor not to let slip about the police call from tonight.
Back at home, Li Hao carried her to bed, trying to check how serious her injuries were. Lin Xiao flinched at his touch, which only made Li Hao feel more frustrated.
As he looked at Lin Xiao's sleeping face, his heart was filled with remorse. She had mentioned before that it hurt, but he hadn’t taken it seriously. He thought she was just being shy, but if it hurt that much, why didn’t she push him away? Even if she had been more assertive, he wouldn’t have assumed she was merely shy.
Li Hao recalled their time on the beach when she had stumbled and he had suggested breaking up.
Lin Xiao thought to herself that if she wanted to refuse him more thoroughly this time, would he get up afterward and bring up breaking up again?
After reconciling this time, Lin Xiao did not want to break up with Li Hao.
