On the day of the Duanwu Festival, Li Hao informed Lin Xiao that he would not be returning to the provincial city. He had been recuperating at home, and there was too much work waiting for him to handle.
After work, Lin Xiao bought the last bus ticket to Yu Rao. By the time she arrived in Yurou County, it was nearly ten o'clock at night. She had arranged for Meng Kai to pick her up at the station.
When Li Hao opened the door and saw Lin Xiao, he was filled with joy and excitement, feeling as if an old iron tree had finally blossomed. The anxiety Lin Xiao felt on her way there was dispelled by Li Hao's silly grin. She worried he might not appreciate her decision to come unannounced, but deeper down, she harbored a greater fear: what if he had someone else hidden away?
None of her worries came to pass. "Do we still need to tidy up the guest room tonight?" Li Hao asked, his voice low and husky as he embraced Lin Xiao.
She buried her head in his chest, recalling Wang Wenya's comment about him being inadequate—what nonsense that was! Lin Xiao believed that one day they would reach this point. Now that they were in love, she had come prepared for this visit.
That night, things were different between them; however, given their previous experience on the beach, Li Hao dared not be too bold. "You really are a dog," Lin Xiao teased as she tugged at his short hair, breathless.
She was gradually getting used to his intimacy and even growing fond of it. "You’re a dog too," she replied, glancing at the bite marks on his shoulder and silently admitting her own canine nature.
With some mental preparation, Lin Xiao felt nervous but found it bearable because it was Li Hao. He felt sorry for her having traveled all night and knowing they didn’t have a proper place to stay; he held back his desires.
Feeling uncomfortable from holding back, Li Hao got up in the middle of the night for a cold shower and realized he had struck gold with Lin Xiao. Though there were no references for comparison, he could truly appreciate her figure.
On the first day of the holiday, Li Hao took charge of safety inspections regarding production issues at various malls, enterprises, and tourist attractions. In the afternoon, he held a meeting to report on these issues.
When he returned home in the evening, Lin Xiao had already set the table with dinner. After they finished eating, they exchanged knowing glances and spent some time reading before heading off to wash up.
"Are you scared?" The two of them lay on the bed.
It was a pointless question; he felt Lin Xiao's trembling.
"I'm just a little nervous. Please be gentle later," Lin Xiao said, gripping his hand.
Li Hao was also nervous; after all, who would believe that he was just a rookie?
"Don't be tense."
Lin Xiao let out a soft cry, and tears streamed from the corners of her eyes.
Li Hao lowered his head and kissed away her tears, whispering soothingly, "Just relax. It will be over soon."
Lin Xiao opened her eyes and pushed him away slightly, looking pitiful. "It really hurts."
"Be good. It's always like this the first time. It will be over soon."
Lin Xiao was starting to feel overwhelmed.
Seeing her distressed expression, Li Hao didn’t dare to hold on for too long.
After it was over, Li Hao was drenched in sweat. He got up to take a shower while Lin Xiao curled up under the blanket, feeling unwell.
When Li Hao returned with a warm towel to wipe her down, he noticed that Lin Xiao had already fallen asleep; she must have been truly exhausted.
He lifted a corner of the blanket and gently wiped her down with the warm towel. When he pulled it away, he was shocked to see a large stain of blood on the pale yellow towel.
Li Hao quickly lifted the blanket, only to find another bloodstain on the sheets.
"Lin Xiao! Lin Xiao! Get dressed; I'm taking you to the hospital."
As Lin Xiao tried to get out of bed while putting on her clothes, her legs wobbled, and she fell directly to the floor beside the bed.
