The on-site report from Gengxu Town detailed the situation regarding the relocation of several villages. Most of the remaining villagers were elderly, who were reluctant to leave their homes, especially since the relocation housing had not yet been completed.
After getting out of the car, Li Hao was immediately met with various difficulties surrounding the demolition process. He interrupted the conversation, asking, "Bai Town Chief, what solutions have you come up with?"

The Director of Finance was about to respond regarding fiscal resources when he noticed Luo Qianwei signaling him from behind Li Hao. "Li County Chief, we are overcoming difficulties and doing our utmost to ensure funding."
Li Hao then asked the Construction Bureau Director, "Has work on the relocation housing begun?"
Seeing that the Director of Finance had already made a statement, the Construction Bureau Director felt pressured not to mention any obstacles. "We are accelerating progress and aim to start next month."
Li Hao turned back to Bai Guangqiang and remarked, "It seems like you want to shine in a different place now, Bai Town Chief?"
Bai Guangqiang wiped sweat from his forehead. At the last county-wide meeting, everyone realized that the new county chief was not someone to be trifled with; he hadn't expected such a lack of leniency.

As they walked, they approached a household where an elderly woman in her sixties was bent over a stove, tending to a fire. Perhaps due to frequent visits from relocation officials, she didn’t even lift her eyes when a group entered.

Brandishing a fire poker, he swung it toward the group, sparks flying as Party Secretary and Bai Guangqiang rushed forward to restrain him while others shielded Li Hao as they stepped back.
Lin Xiao found herself following closely behind. As people surged outward, she ended up being one of the first to exit.
Just as they reached the entrance of Hao Laohan's home, a man in his forties stood frozen at the door upon seeing a young girl emerge first.
Lin Xiao paused when she noticed someone blocking the doorway. A foul odor hit her nose; looking down revealed that the burly man was holding a bucket of sewage.
At that moment, Li Hao was quickly ushered toward the door by the crowd.
Seeing them emerge, the burly man raised his bucket as if to throw its contents.
Without thinking, Lin Xiao dashed in front of Li Hao and wrapped her arms around him, using her body as a shield.
A bucket of sewage splashed onto Lin Xiao from behind, drenching her completely. The other directors nearby were also splattered to varying degrees. Only Li Hao was shielded by Lin Xiao, who pushed and pulled him away, managing to keep him entirely clean.
Lin Xiao looked down at the clumps of excrement at her feet, the foul smell making her retch in disgust. Li Hao's face turned ashen with anger; if it weren't for Lin Xiao's selfless protection, he feared he would have become a laughingstock.
Bai Guangqiang's face went pale with fright. His family had not been affected by the demolition yet, but after just escaping from Hao Laohan swinging a burning stick, now there was a bucket of sewage thrown at them. It seemed his position was truly at risk.
Luo Qianwei saw Lin Xiao covered in filth and quickly shouted, "Bai Town Chief, hurry and find someone to help Lin wash up!" He was also drenched in cold sweat; fortunately, it was Lin Xiao who took the brunt of the attack. If the county chief had been splashed instead, he would have been hard-pressed to explain himself.
