Xu Yicheng looked confused; it was clearly the sound of an airplane flying by. How could anyone determine that someone was coming? With this curiosity, Xu Yicheng followed Mr. Song up the stairs.
On the other side of the door, the middle-aged man and the young girl were already waiting. The bell on the door rang, and a boy around twenty walked in. He had a side-swept fringe, and his light gray sweatpants paired with a blue jacket made him look particularly energetic.
"Welcome," the girl said with a bright smile.
The boy nodded, smiled politely, and asked, "Mr. Song is here?"
"He's here, um, I'll go get him." The girl ran to the kitchen wall, not expecting that Mr. Song and Xu Yicheng had already come up. The two of them arrived in the living room.
"Oh! Isn't this Dr. Xu? My goodness! What a pleasant surprise." The boy was both surprised and delighted, and reached out his hand in a friendly manner. Xu Yicheng shook hands with him and said, "May I ask your name?"
"Liu Xuan," the young man said.
"Hmm? This name seems familiar, like I've heard it somewhere before," Xu Yicheng suddenly remembered hearing this name in the news last year.
Liu Xuan walked up to Mr. Song, pursed his lips, glanced at the man and the girl, and said, "I'm sorry, I flew low over the entire mountain area and still didn't see any sign of Zhao Xinsheng. I'm really sorry. Maybe he's hiding somewhere."
Mr. Song sighed after listening, "I knew this kid wouldn't let us rest easy. He peeked at the records of the Life Wand, stole the money from home, and slipped away without a sound. Now, well... let's wait for the police's news."
"Low-altitude flight?" Xu Yicheng looked at Liu Xuan with admiration, "You can't be..."
"Oh, right, a pilot," Liu Xuan hastily continued—he had only reported to Mr. Song and had forgotten there was still an uninformed person here.
Mr. Song sat down on the sofa and stared gloomily. Liu Xuan walked up and said, "Mr. Song, don't worry, he must be fine. Maybe he has already walked out of the forest."
"I'm not worried about that. I don't care about that unfilial descendant. I'm thinking of a possibility..." Mr. Song said.
Liu Xuan was puzzled and didn't quite understand Mr. Song's meaning. He glanced at Xu Yicheng, who avoided his gaze and asked with his head down, "Is Mr. Song's grandson missing?"
"Yes, disappeared in the forest, just like you," Liu Xuan said.
Xu Yicheng nodded, "I made it out, your grandson will be fine, Mr. Song."
Mr. Song smiled bitterly, "I hope so, it's better if nothing happens, even though he's very annoying."
Liu Xuan said, "Well, there's nothing else, I'll be leaving first."
"Um, hey, young man, leave me your contact information before you go..." The girl suddenly spoke, her face blushing.
"Well, I'm not leaving for the last time, and it's not the first time either. We can meet anytime, right?" Liu Xuan felt somewhat surprised, then opened the door and left.
Xu Yicheng actually had doubts in his mind a long time ago. He watched Liu Xuan walk away and asked Mr. Song: "That person... was he involved in last year's invasion incident?"
Mr. Song looked up at him and said, "You will walk together in the future."
Xu Yicheng fell silent, and suddenly he had an answer.
"That person is the King of the Moonheart, to be precise, the king is inside the body of a young man named Liu Xuan," Mr. Song said.
"Is that really true?!" Xu Yicheng was shocked, "Then why doesn't he say anything?"
"Because he doesn't know your identity, and also, it's not time for you to meet yet. Time will help you to get to know each other."
Xu Yicheng was even more confused. "What do you mean by that?"
Mr. Song lit a cigarette. "According to records from our ancestors, the former king once secretly met with Yuan Zun and requested that Yuan Zun dismantle the life of the Four-Armed Giant. But Yuan Zun refused. The two sides could not come to an agreement, which led to some conflicts. I don't know what the current king thinks of the Stone Giant Clan. If he is unwilling to reconcile with the Stone Giant Clan, then introducing you to him might just add fuel to the fire, do you understand? I'm doing this for the greater good."
Xu Yicheng was stunned. He looked into Mr. Song's calm eyes, and the knot in his heart gradually began to unravel.
Unable to resist Mr. Song's persuasion, Xu Yicheng stayed for dinner before leaving the villa. He navigated back to where he had parked his car. On the way, he had a foreboding feeling as if someone was watching him from behind. He kept looking back, but all he saw was the passing crowd. Xu Yicheng got into his car and turned on the radio:
"Today, after a day of searching, the search and rescue team found the bodies of two hikers by the stream, and the cause of death is still under investigation. Beside the bodies, there was a large amount of blood, and experts speculate that it is highly likely the perpetrator moved and concealed other bodies. The search and rescue operation is still ongoing, and this station will provide you with real-time updates 24 hours a day..."
Xu Yicheng recalled the four-armed giant that almost consumed him and sighed, "I guess that Zhao's grandson is gone too."
He considered changing lanes but quickly gave up— a white Land Cruiser drove up beside him, matching his speed instead of overtaking. "What does this mean?" Xu Yicheng couldn't understand and pressed the horn.
To his surprise, the vehicle suddenly swerved closer to his car. With a loud bang, the two vehicles collided tightly together. The powerful SUV pressed against Xu Yicheng's sedan, forcing it toward the wall. No matter how he turned the steering wheel, it was futile.
The car slowly moved towards the side of the road, and Xu Yicheng acted quickly, slamming on the brakes, causing the two cars to immediately separate. However, the other car reacted swiftly, sharply turning and skimming along the edge before the massive rear end of the car swung, executing a 180-degree drift and aiming the front of the car at Xu Yicheng's car. Subsequently, a grappling hook shot out from under the front of the car, hooking onto Xu Yicheng's car. Xu Yicheng was startled and quickly accelerated in reverse, the wheels scraping violently against the ground, as white smoke slowly rose. However, the other car began to pull back, and the grappling hook started to retract. Xu Yicheng could only watch helplessly as his car was pulled away.
With a loud bang, two cars collided. Xu Yicheng's head hit the steering wheel, instantly making him dizzy. Three masked individuals got out of the other car, one of them wielding a sledgehammer. They smashed the windows of Xu Yicheng's car and dragged him out.
"Hello, Dr. Xu." A person stepped forward, "Let's have a talk." With that, he threw a punch...
In an abandoned chemical factory on the outskirts, Xu Yicheng slowly opened his eyes and found himself lying on a bed. He tried to move his legs and arms, and to his surprise, he could move freely. His memory gradually returned, and he recalled being knocked unconscious. Xu Yicheng then realized the dangerous situation he was in.
Xu Yicheng immediately sat up and looked around. There was nothing but four light green walls and a dimly lit lamp hanging above. Xu Yicheng noticed a window nearby and quickly ran over to take a look, realizing that it wasn't very high off the ground. He glanced at the door and then back at the window, but ultimately hesitated. He walked over and opened the door, only to regret it as soon as he did.
In front of him was a large factory space where three people were sitting on the floor. When they saw Xu Yicheng get up, they immediately stood up.
"See, I told you he wouldn't dare jump," laughed a blonde-haired person. Xu Yicheng wanted to run, but he was quickly caught by the blonde.
"Don't worry, Dr. Xu, we, uh, shouldn't harm you as long as you're willing," the blonde-haired man said with a sly smile, pointing to the other two. "Go get it."
To Xu Yicheng's surprise, there was a table nearby, and the blonde pulled him to sit at it. Xu Yicheng already sensed that something was off: "Something's about to happen... Wait, I need to..." The blonde was on Xu Yicheng's left side, and Xu Yicheng reached into his right pocket with his right hand, relieved to find that his belongings were still there.
"Here's the thing, Dr. Xu, we hope you can cooperate with us and upgrade our equipment..." The two men had already approached Xu Yicheng with two large bags, unzipping them to reveal a stash of firearms inside.
"If I remember correctly, you graduated from a military academy with a degree in Ammunition Engineering and Explosive Technology, right? I wonder if you are still interested in upgrading weapons after all this time?"
"I'm not interested," Xu Yicheng said coldly.
"Very well! Since you've said that, it seems our cooperation has failed." The man with yellow hair got up from the table and pulled out a syringe filled with blue liquid from his backpack. "To be honest, we are actually remnants of the Viper Organization. We still possess a lot of technology, but unfortunately, you are unwilling to share with us. If we were to modify you, would you then agree?"
Xu Yicheng's face turned pale, and he immediately turned to run. The two people quickly chased after him and caught him, attempting to put handcuffs on him.
"Have the guts not to cuff me! You'll be finished in five minutes!" Xu Yicheng shouted, but in reality, he was feeling very anxious; he had no idea how long his plan would actually take.
"Oh, five minutes, is it? I want to see what kind of nonsense you’re spouting!" The blonde-haired man slowly approached Xu Yicheng.
Xu Yicheng He arrogantly inserted his right hand into his pants pocket, then took it out again. He swallowed hard, praying frantically in his heart.
