Restricted by the conditions of the Water Elevator, the maximum descent speed did not exceed one meter per second. In contrast, Yun Yi jumped down the mine shaft, with his speed almost entirely determined by the gravitational pull of the Earth's Core.
Theoretically, besides gravity, air resistance would also affect the falling speed. As the speed increased, the encountered air resistance would also grow until reaching a critical point where dynamic equilibrium was established, stabilizing the descent rate. However, since the mine had not fully connected with external air, this meant that Yun Yi's fall was essentially unimpeded by significant air resistance.

After placing down his empty bucket and stowing away his water container, Yun Yi took out his Qiang Tie Hao and prepared to dig again. The sound of clinking echoed throughout the entire mine shaft, particularly resonant in the quiet underground space.
As he dug deeper, the surrounding scenery began to change; the hard granite layers gradually transformed into more fragile and stratified rock formations. Yet no matter how hard the rock was, under the blows of his Efficiency-enchanted iron pickaxe, it met its fate. A light strike could instantly shatter the rock into fist-sized pieces that he quickly collected into his backpack.
However, as time passed and he dug deeper, both temperature and pressure began to rise. Fortunately, even when temperatures exceeded what Steve could endure, he only felt warmth and slight Health Points loss without experiencing any real burning sensation.
After digging down over two thousand meters, the surrounding temperature surprisingly climbed to between twenty to thirty degrees Celsius. At such temperatures, liquid water would almost instantly turn into steam upon contact with surfaces.
Following the flow of water down from the Water Slide to the ground, it evaporated immediately upon touching down due to high temperatures. The area was enveloped in thick steam, shrouded in a white mist. To prevent this situation from worsening, Yun Yi quickly used Rock Block to seal off the Water Slide's outlet, restoring the environment back to its original state.
However, such high temperatures also began to take their toll on Yun Yi; he started losing health! Although blood loss occurred slowly—taking about ten minutes for just a slight decrease—if he had a total of Health Points available at this rate, theoretically he could last several days and nights before running out completely.
In reality, a more extreme environment awaited him deeper down. As he descended, the temperature would rise further, meaning his Health Points would deplete at an accelerated rate.
When Yun Yi returned once more with two filled boxes, he noticed that his health was diminishing three to four times faster than at the beginning.
"Goodness, can I really continue digging into the Magma Layer?" A hint of doubt crept into Yun Yi's mind.
Yet on the surface, he showed no signs of anxiety, for he knew he possessed a powerful ability: Rebirth Ability! Even if the heat took his life, he could respawn in just a few seconds at his designated Respawn Point—right above his bed.
To him, dying once was merely a chance to start over!
With this thought in mind, he struck the Rock Block sealing the Water Slide once again, allowing the heavy slide to drop and revealing the searing world ahead. The water flowing down the Water Slide evaporated rapidly, and white steam enveloped the entire Underground Mine once more.
Fortunately, this wouldn't hinder Yun Yi as he made his way back up along the Water Slide. In just two short minutes, he returned to his respawn point, unloaded the Rock Blocks from his bags and boxes into another storage location, and without hesitation, jumped back into the mine once again.
