Guan Yu and Zhao Feng suddenly seemed to be enlightened.
That's right, why does a stone fall to the ground? They had never thought about this question before. After all, when people let go of a stone, it seems like one of the most basic pieces of common knowledge that it will drop to the ground. Yet, this seemingly ordinary question hides a deeper significance.
"Master, why is that?" someone asked with curiosity.
Yun Yi slowly replied, "Because there exists an invisible force on this earth. It acts on all objects, compelling them to fall. I call it Universal Gravitation."
Guan Yu and Zhao Feng furrowed their brows, feeling quite unfamiliar with the term Universal Gravitation. Why did the master choose such a name? Guan Yu pondered, scratching his head. It truly felt like he had gained some new knowledge! In reality, Guan Yu was far from foolish; he possessed unparalleled talent in military strategy and tactics. However, he was somewhat lacking in the realm of natural sciences.
At that moment, Zhao Feng's tightly knit brows suddenly relaxed. "Does the master mean that there exists a so-called Universal Gravitation between all matter?"
Yun Yi nodded affirmatively, a look of satisfaction in his eyes. "Exactly so; Universal Gravitation indeed exists among all things in the world."
Zhao Feng thoughtfully rubbed his head and posed a further question: "If Universal Gravitation exists between all matter, why does the stone in my hand fall to the ground while people do not attract each other?"
"Good question!" Yun Yi exclaimed. "It is this spirit of inquiry that drives scientific progress."
Scientific research is fundamentally a process of questioning established truths. Before Newton proposed the Universal Law of Gravitation, there was a prevailing belief that gravity was omnipresent in the macrocosm. However, this law faced significant challenges when examining the behavior of subatomic particles. Thus, during the deep exploration and skepticism of existing rules, Einstein introduced the theory of Relativity.
Yun Yi promptly responded to Zhao Feng's question: Although there exists Universal Gravitation between all objects, the strength of this force varies. The primary factor determining the strength of Universal Gravitation is the mass of the objects.
"The mass of an object?" Zhao Feng asked, his face filled with confusion.
Yun Yi patiently nodded: "You can think of it this way: the heavier an object is, the stronger its gravitational pull."
This statement enlightened Zhao Feng. He thought about how vast the Earth is; its weight is undoubtedly astonishing, and thus its gravitational force must be immense. This allows it to easily pull stones toward the ground. In contrast, the weight of humans is negligible; while there is mutual gravitational attraction between individuals, it is so weak that it can be ignored and does not cause people to be drawn together.
In that moment, inspiration struck Zhao Feng like a lightning bolt: "Master, could it be that we are able to stand on this ground precisely because of the Earth's gravity?"
Seeing Yun Yi nod slightly, Zhao Feng became even more excited and continued to reason: "If we could find a way to eliminate this gravitational influence, would we then be able to fly?"
Upon hearing this, Yun Yi paused for a moment. Indeed, theoretically speaking, if one could eliminate gravity, flying would be possible. However, reality is far more complex; after all, anti-gravity technology is no simple matter.
