Without circling the village center at least three times, one would never feel satisfied or truly possess these two treasures.
"Hey, Zhao Lin, where have you run off to now?" a curious villager asked.
"This is a gift from the Lord of the Celestial Deities—the Divine Artifact Iron Hoe and a sharp sword!" he replied proudly.
"I’m not mistaken, but what kind of answer is that? Zhao Lin, oh Zhao Lin," someone sighed and shook their head.
With just a swing of this hoe, barren land instantly transforms into fertile fields; and this sword is so sharp that it can't even be blocked by a single hair.
"Enough! What do you mean by all this?" the villagers looked on in confusion.
"Among all of us, I alone have received these two divine artifacts."
"Really? How did you manage that?" gasps of astonishment arose from the crowd.
"Hehe, it all comes down to extraordinary luck, a bit more knowledge than others, and most importantly, winning the favor of the Lord of the Celestial Deities."
With that, Zhao Lin turned to leave, leaving the villagers exchanging glances.
As he walked past each place, nearby residents quickly shut their doors.
To this, Zhao Lin merely scoffed, "You guys must be jealous!"
Finally, as Zhao Lin passed by his own doorstep for the third time, a man in his twenties stepped out and suddenly grabbed him by the ear.
"Zhao Lin! Are you planning to be like Dayu? Passing by your home three times without going in? If I hadn’t pulled you in, would you have just kept wandering around the village?"
"What an embarrassing situation you've created for yourself! How am I supposed to face the elders in our village now?"
Zhao Lin quickly smiled apologetically and said, "Wife, I was wrong, I was wrong."
"Wrong about what?"
Zhao Lin was taken aback.
If this conversation were to be overheard by Yun Yi, he would probably laugh until his stomach hurt. Who would have thought that by the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, women had already mastered the art of soul-piercing questioning?
Back in the vast wilderness under the deep night sky, even with the moonlight shining brightly, everything ahead remained unclear. In such an environment, a carriage pulled by two horses rushed forward, driven by Chu Yan.
Inside the carriage, Dian Wei and Gao Shun sat in the compartment, staring at the timid and silent bandit.
"Behave yourself, got it?"
The bandit forced a smile and replied, "How could I dare to misbehave?"
He knew very well that with such a murderous presence around, any hint of defiance could lead to a beating or worse.
Gao Shun turned to Dian Wei, curiosity evident in his voice. "Brother Dian, what kind of person is that immortal?"
Dian Wei pondered for a moment before answering, "The immortal has an incredibly broad mind and great powers. He can create tangible things from nothing and can conjure up a solid barrier with just a wave of his hand. It's a pity you can't witness this scene; if you were fortunate enough to see it, you'd be astonished for an entire day."
Chu Yan outside the carriage nodded in agreement. "That's right. The first time I saw the immortal, I happened to witness him using magic to summon thunder and lightning. The power was utterly shocking. Even walls as solid as rock could be shattered with a single blow. If a person were struck by it, there wouldn't even be remains left."
Hearing these descriptions sent chills down Gao Shun's spine. Transforming the intangible into the tangible and summoning thunder—was this truly the work of an immortal? It was too astonishing! He continued to ask, "Could you tell us how you met the immortal?"
At the mention of this, Dian Wei's demeanor immediately shifted; he hesitated before responding.
Chu Yan chuckled upon hearing this. "Brother Gao, that's not an appropriate question; it's quite an embarrassing chapter in our brother's history."
Dian Wei frowned and retorted, "Do you think I want to share it?"
He then added, "It sounds like you're talking about someone else's story as if you have nothing shameful of your own."
Chu Yan was left speechless for a moment.
Indeed, as Dian Wei said, it was a rather embarrassing memory. He had confidently set out to challenge Dian Wei, only to be overwhelmed in a brief encounter, unable to put up any resistance at all. Gao Shun was originally just curious about this past incident, but if Dian Wei was unwilling to discuss it, he wouldn’t press the matter. However, at that moment, their conversation piqued his interest even more. "Come on, Brother Dian Wei, just tell us about it."
Dian Wei shook his head. "No, no, that’s something shameful."
Gao Shun grinned slyly. "Then let Brother Chu Yan tell it instead."
"You little rascal, Gao Shun! Just a few days apart and you've turned so mischievous?"
Gao Shun laughed heartily. "Come on, Dian Wei, just share it! I promise I won’t spill the beans."
Dian Wei shook his head vigorously like a rattle drum. "I really can’t say; it’s far too disgraceful. Ask Chu Yan; he knows."
Chu Yan chuckled as well. "Since our big brother Dian Wei is being shy, let me share the story."
The tale was quite simple: it was the first time Dian Wei had borrowed a path but ended up crossing the way of an immortal being.
"Wait, you actually robbed an immortal?" Gao Shun stared at the two in disbelief.
Seeing that Chu Yan had already revealed so much, Dian Wei decided to admit it straightforwardly. "But you can’t blame me entirely! That day, I intended to go to Julu to seek out the great sage Zhang Jiao for some Fu Shui. But I accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up in Changshan County. In my hunger and desperation, I thought of robbing a passerby to satisfy my needs. Who would have thought that my first attempt would lead me to encounter someone like you?"
