John sat at his desk, gently rubbing his slightly aching temples, a look of fatigue and helplessness on his face. He never imagined that taking over would involve such a troublesome mess! In just half a day's time, he had exhausted himself trying to gather information about the Royal Capital Guard.
Once, the Royal Capital Guard was a source of pride for the Hecha Royal Family! It was an elite guard specifically serving the royal family, tasked with protecting the royal safety and maintaining order in the capital. However, over the past century, due to the lack of large-scale national wars in the Hecha Kingdom, this unit had gradually become decayed.
Corruption was rampant; officers shamelessly deducted from the already meager salaries of soldiers, and some even brazenly took pay for nonexistent service. Such misconduct not only severely damaged the reputation and combat effectiveness of the Royal Capital Guard but also led to widespread public resentment.
During the reign of the former king, the situation worsened as he formed another Royal Guard. Consequently, the Royal Capital Guard was completely marginalized, with many members becoming apathetic and the entire unit nearly falling into a state of neglect.
Now, with the newly crowned Napoleon King determined to restore military discipline and rejuvenate the Royal Capital Guard's glory, this might not seem like a big deal to those complacent officers. After all, most of them were nobles from the capital; even if they lost their positions in the Royal Capital Guard, it wouldn’t significantly affect their personal interests.
However, John was entirely different from these individuals. This mission represented a rare opportunity for him to showcase his abilities. If he failed to accomplish this daunting task, it would be difficult for him to gain favor with King Napoleon again, let alone leverage royal power to connect with the mysterious and powerful Magic Tower.
Thus, regardless of how challenging the road ahead might be, he had to grit his teeth and give it his all, never allowing himself to give up easily.
With determination, John suddenly pushed open the office door and rushed out. In an instant, he was outside in the courtyard.
"Kuiradi! Gather everyone responsible for the Royal Capital Guard immediately! Damn it, today I want to see whether they can continue being lazy or if my whip will strike faster and harder!"
John shouted, his voice echoing loudly as if shaking the entire courtyard.
Kuiradi, who had been waiting idly in the yard for orders, sprang up as if jolted by electricity upon hearing John's roar. Without hesitation, he drew out a thick riding whip from his waist and waved his hand decisively, leading all soldiers behind him out like a tidal wave.
A full Eight Hundred-Man Team marched with synchronized and powerful steps toward the military camp. Kuiradi thought to himself: Hmph! I refuse to believe there’s anyone in this world who can match my formidable whip!
Before long, this imposing team arrived at the military camp. At that moment, chaos reigned within; various noisy sounds intertwined in a cacophony.
