Ten Years Later
On the spacious balcony of the castle, twenty-year-old John lounged lazily in a deck chair, one hand gently stroking his meticulously groomed beard. In his other hand, he held a yellowed book, engrossed in its captivating plot.
At that moment, warm and gentle sunlight poured over him like a golden veil, wrapping him in a shimmering glow and enveloping him in warmth and tranquility. The soothing sensation seeped through his skin and into every cell of his body, filling him with immense contentment.
Suddenly, a commotion broke the serene atmosphere. A young maid was struggling to catch a lively, mischievous child who was darting around. She carefully held the child’s hand, fearing that this little rascal might inadvertently disturb Master John, who was enjoying his leisurely time. Looking around, one could see children playing joyfully in every corner of the castle. They resembled a flock of cheerful little birds, running and frolicking freely.
Over the past decade, John had tirelessly sown the seeds of his legacy. Not only that, but he had also welcomed seven or eight beautiful and gentle maids into the castle. As time passed, these maids began to bear him adorable children. Now, the number of children in this castle was on the verge of reaching double digits.
Just then, the butler hurried over with exciting news: "Sir! Sir! Lady Ventas has just successfully given birth to a pair of twins!"
Upon hearing this joyful announcement, a radiant smile spread across John's face. He couldn't help but murmur to himself, "This is wonderful! My ninety-ninth and one hundredth offspring have finally arrived. Our family is about to celebrate the glorious moment of having a hundred descendants!"
The arrival of these two children meant that John did not plan to have more; it wasn't that he couldn't afford them, but rather that it was simply too chaotic.
Over the years, the newly built castle in Salty Fish Village had expanded to four times its original size. It needed to be spacious; after all, children needed room to play and roll around without causing too much ruckus. With over seventy servants in the castle, if it weren't for the challenge of managing so many people, John would have considered hiring up to a hundred.
Currently, each servant managed a pair of children.
Among these children, the oldest three batches were aged ten, nine, and eight respectively. Given the large number of children in John's household, they were counted by batches. Now, these slightly older children had already begun their knight training.
The instructors included Master and several Wandering Knights. It must be said that hiring teachers of Transcendent level for guidance was quite an extravagant affair even within noble circles!
