John's gaze slowly shifted to Kuiradi, revealing a hint of anticipation and confusion in his eyes. This was the person he had entrusted with the important task of seeking out the Magic Wolf Heart. After some time had passed, John felt uncertain, unsure of how many Magic Wolf Hearts his subordinate had actually found.
Kuiradi stood there, appearing somewhat uneasy. Under John's scrutiny, he found himself at a loss for words. Sweat beads gradually formed on his forehead as he silently lamented his predicament. With no other option, he cautiously stole a glance at Master, his eyes filled with a plea for help, hoping that this companion would come to his rescue and explain the situation.
As for Master, he looked at Kuiradi with a sense of helplessness. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly: why did this senior have to look to me? However, they were all in the same boat; he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
Thus, Master mustered his courage and stepped forward, saying, "My lord, you may not be aware that Kuiradi has indeed been diligent in searching for the Magic Wolf Heart during this time. However, it has only been half a month; finding a Magic Wolf with a Beast Bloodline is no easy task!"
Upon hearing this, Kuiradi felt as if he had grasped a lifeline and hurriedly nodded in agreement. "Yes, yes, my lord! It has truly been quite difficult! I have been tirelessly leading the soldiers in search everywhere. Unfortunately, this area is simply not a habitat for wolves; we only encountered some ordinary wild wolves. Although we were fortunate enough to hunt down a Magic Tiger, it has nothing to do with your assigned task."
He finished speaking with an expression of pitiful desperation.
John frowned slightly after listening to them and fell into deep thought. He realized that relying on hunting to obtain the Magic Wolf Heart was likely not going to work out. If that was the case, he would have to find another way.
With that thought in mind, he lifted his head and turned his gaze to Kevin Qi. "Kevin Qi, it will depend on you from now on! Next time we go to the Chamber of Commerce for supplies, remember to keep an eye out for any merchants selling Magic Wolf Hearts."
Annie stood nearby, puzzled about why her husband John still needed the heart of a Magic Wolf. However, her upbringing from the White Family taught her not to ask questions indiscriminately; she decided to wait until after the meeting to inquire further.
"Any other matters? If not, we are dismissed," John said.
After asking around and waving everyone off, John decided he needed some time alone to rest; there was much work ahead.
Once everyone had left except for Head Maid Iman and his wife Annie, Iman took Annie to get acquainted with Kevin Qi regarding administrative matters.
John took a deep breath and resolved to calm himself down and think about what preparations he could still make.
Meanwhile, Annie did not act immediately. She stood quietly in place, her face reflecting uncertainty as she wrestled internally with whether she should ask John about the sudden thought that had popped into her mind.
Time ticked by slowly without any sounds of movement in the room.
John couldn't help but feel puzzled; he slowly lifted his head and his gaze landed on Annie, who was still standing there. To his surprise, Annie's expression seemed quite strange as if she were hiding something deep within her heart.
"What’s wrong, Annie?" John asked softly, concern lacing his words.
Startled by John's sudden voice while lost in thought, Annie jumped up as if awakening from a dream. Flustered, she stammered, "Oh! I’ll just be going now." With that, she prepared to turn and leave.
John was quick-witted, swiftly pulling Annie back to his side. His gaze was filled with affection as he stared into her beautiful, captivating eyes.
"Go on, sweetheart. If you don’t speak up, it means you’re not listening to me. Be careful; I might just have to punish you," he said playfully, his tone laced with a hint of threat, though the tenderness and love in his voice were unmistakable.
Upon hearing John's inquiry, Annie finally mustered the courage to speak. "Darling, I'm just a bit curious why you want the heart of the Magic Wolf. Also, I happen to know some clues about where to find it."
Annie carefully voiced her questions and shared the information she had gathered.
"You know where the heart of the Magic Wolf is!" John exclaimed, jumping up from his seat in excitement. His face lit up with enthusiasm. "Tell me the exact location! This is something of utmost importance!"
John's sudden reaction startled Annie, causing her to instinctively take a small step back. Once she steadied herself, she took a deep breath and began to explain in detail about the whereabouts of the Magic Wolf Heart.
