As the night faded into dawn, the streets of Shibuya were bathed in the soft glow of morning light.
John couldn't believe his eyes. How could it be a dance from the otaku culture? And it was "Aoi," no less! It felt so embarrassing! There was no way he would ever perform this dance in front of a crowd—absolutely not!
After the music ended, he buried his head in his arms, taking a long time to calm down. His body felt like it had been broken, but the dance was already done; he couldn’t let himself down for what he had lost.
He picked up the invisible remnants from the ground and returned them to their rightful place, beginning to prepare his potions. He lit a fire, poured in water, added insects, lizard blood, herbs, and luminescent stones. One by one, the ingredients were placed into the crucible, and the reaction began.
A mysterious aura enveloped him, as if someone was watching over him from beyond—like a goddess draped in splendid garments, surrounded by countless fans waving colorful support sticks and cheering loudly.
As the support sticks swayed in the air, John's mouth slightly parted, and a voice squeezed out from his throat. "Dimensional God, bless me!"
Shame washed over him like a tidal wave, crashing against his mind. But this feeling didn’t linger for long.
Once the initial embarrassment faded, the intense reaction in the crucible also subsided, and the potion settled into calmness. Taking a deep breath, John forced himself to act as if nothing had happened and began to seriously examine the potion's condition.
As long as I don’t say anything, nothing has happened.
With a mental boost from his own willpower, John overcame his shame.
Healing Potion (Excellent): This potion can heal wounds and restore various internal and external injuries, though its effectiveness is halved when facing Transcendent Item s. It acts quickly.
As John glanced at the potions he had previously brewed, he wondered how effective the failed ones might be.
Healing Potion (Inferior): This potion can heal moderate injuries and restore external wounds, but it is completely ineffective against Transcendent Item s and has a slightly faster onset.
Coughing lightly, it seemed he would have to keep his Alchemy endeavors a secret from now on.
John decided that his basement would be off-limits to everyone, especially during his potion-making sessions.
Carrying five bottles of Inferior Healing Potions and eight bottles of Excellent Healing Potions, he stepped out of the basement.
The maid waiting at the door hurriedly handed him a towel and some food.
"My lord, please have some pastries; these were just made in the kitchen and are still warm."
"Ah, Red Bean Cake," he said, swallowing a few bites. His empty stomach finally felt satisfied.
"By the way, did you hear any strange noises while you were waiting outside?"
The maid tilted her head thoughtfully. "I think I heard someone calling for a goddess, but I couldn't make out the words."
Coughing again, John felt his face flush with embarrassment. "The pastries are dry; do you have any water?"
He quickly changed the subject; it was too awkward for him to linger on that topic.
